I used to have a weekly routine where I would cover my hair and face in olive oil, paint my nails and then shower when my nails had dried. I could probably do that now and incorporate it into our Friday Night movie night.

Re. screens. I seem to do well with no screens until break (quiet time, 1:30) and then turning them off when hubby gets home. I should really stick with that.

We have developed a new routine recently where immediately after dinner the kids pick up for 30 minutes of playtime with Daddy. This wears them out right before bed and they are ready for their evening devotions which have been neglected a lot lately, but they want their playtime so badly that they get everything ready and devotions just happened as an aftereffect.

That sounds so good!

We need a new routine!

Hugs for Krissi and family. Not too close, though. Because I have cooties.

I am officially tired of coughing. My ribs hurt so much when I cough, it isn't funny. Cough medicine helps, but only for about three hours, and then I'm back at it.

Poor baby. At least the cough medicine helps for awhile.

Maybe the bunnies will do some good after all.

Dh didn’t get home until 11 pm tonight. Very long day.

I have nothing to add but felt odd only quoting the first two. Three is just such a nice number, you know.

I should put learn to write on mine.

You didn't ask me but...

  • More emphasis on swimming/yoga/tai chi and less on harsher fitness
  • A dedicated devotional time
  • Something about screens
  • Stricter rules regarding my diet (health, not weight loss)
  • Clarifying a routine for my family's mental health

It's an I told you we were all a mess BOOYA!

Learn to write is perennially on my list. The better I get, the more I realize I have to learn. Like a kid's room. It's all clean and pretty, and then your agent or critique partner opens the closet or looks under the bed.

Good morning!

We are on the road.  I’m kinda eager to see Dallas in the daylight.  It was wonderful being in such close proximity to so many of my ITT friends!  Hopefully we will be able to come out this direction some non-holiday time and plan a meet-up.

If you are so inclined, maybe say a prayer for my sister, who is on her way to consult with the specialist in Houston.  We are hoping they can schedule surgery very soon.

Coffee!

Oh, I coughed myself silly until midnight, but took a dose of cough syrup an hour early because dying is not allowed per ITT regs. I don't know if it was the last gasp, but I went to sleep and slept like the dead until four, woke, didn't need syrup, went back to sleep, and got up actually feeling halfway human this morning. My voice has been upgraded from "rooster with laryngitis" to "asthmatic bullfrog".

Good Morning!  I was surprised to learn that it's already Thursday!  I just dropped dd at swim. Can't decide whether to run in the AFSA for a quick errand or just sit in my quiet car and read.

(Slache, go seep!)

self care - I need to get a secure routine for walking everyday. I think if I did this other things would fall in place.

Me too!  I had so much fun walking my sister’s dog - it’s tempting. I should probably be satisfied tagging along with dd12 and her dog-walking job.

I'm learning with the boy, which is probably a good pace for me.

I can't. Every day between 5 and 6 the neighbor's fire alarm malfunctions and we have to wait for the fire department to come fix it.

I feel like the weather is an issue regarding walking. Is there an indoor walking alternative for bad days?

Good morning all!  For some strange reason people decided that 11:30 is the best time to call and text me, lol.  I didn't get to sleep until after midnight but, I got good sleep.  We have an appointment at dentist today to fix the last of the cavities, I need to return something to Walmart and I might stop in Hobby Lobby, since we'll be in that area.  Angi, don't judge me, lol!

Good morning.  I"m tired again.  Didn't sleep well at all.  We head home around lunchtime today.

Oldest dd has been watching our dog and he's making her miserable.  He is a pita with anyone except dh.  He's tolerable with me but anyone else, forget it.  I guess next time we need someone to watch him, he gets to go to a boarding place.

Self-care/routines:  more exercise, better school routine better cleaning routines

I like the idea of a daily walk with the dog.  It would probably benefit everyone if I drag the kids along.   Unfortunately, it won't happen until the weather is nicer.  The cold makes my ankle, wrist, and knees ache really bad.  And if it's really cold, it kicks up my asthma.   But I like the idea.

I'm hoping to use the rest of my break (if this damn cold will go away) to clean and organize the house, finalize plans for the last three weeks of my classes, set up school for the next few weeks.  If I can get all that accomplished, I should have more time to just relax.

I was putting some new jewelry in my jewelry box and noticed my wedding rings.  I haven't worn them for a few years because of swollen arthritis fingers.

I thought that I would try them on to see if they fit now.  (My hands have been feeling better so I thought they might fit.)

My rings are now stuck on my fingers.  I think that I'll be able to get them off, but it's going to take some work.  And maybe some olive oil.  😞

I've heard that planet fitness can be joined for $10/month.  For 5 months I've been contemplating whether I prefer convenience or controlled temperatures. 😂 (Evidently, I prefer contemplating over walking. 🙄😜)

I thought I *might* attempt cleaning my closet later today. I don't think I actually will. Maybe clean up my art supplies and think about where I want to store them. I have the little closet in our room, but I also have a long area of cabinet space that I could be using.

Dh is painting some rooms at my mothers house this coming weekend, so that should give me lots of time to clean and reorganize our house.  It's hard to do with him sitting in the living room trying to watch tv.

I plan to teach (again!) the kids how to vacuum (now that we have a working vacuum), dust, straighten, etc.  They need more chores to keep them busy.  They empty the dishwasher (doesn't work, we hand wash and use the dishwasher as a drying rack), and put their laundry away.  They need to be retaught how to use the washing machine and dryer but I"m hesitant to have them use the dryer when they are home alone because of the fire risk.

I need to decide if it's worth teaching them (again!) to fold clothes.  I think if I leave it up to them, things will get balled up and thrown in drawers.  Trying to decide if I care.

I am considering failing at bullet journaling again this year.

You know, I just use mine for keeping notes. Sometimes I do calendar stuff in it, but mostly it's for writing down Things I Need to Know. None of those fancy "spreads," just pretty much the kinds of things that the original bullet journal site suggests.

I have a traveler's notebook. I have lists, the weekly layout (free printable), and a calender I didn't use but I want to keep a family sick journal and the calendar will be perfect for that. Those are all separate notebooks in one leather case, along with a zippered case for pens and post its, a credit card insert I use for important quick references, and two folders for bills and school printouts. I stopped keeping it because I wanted something bigger but I think I want to go back.

I am alone in my house, during day, without construction stuff going on, for the first time in a month. It.is.awesome.

And I'm celebrating by doing laundry and cleaning the bathrooms on the day they are supposed to be done, which I have not been able to do since before Disney--er, I mean, since Thanksgiving. It *totally* weirds me out not to be able to keep my schedule, lol.

And it's a back-to-normal booya!

I put a few more recipes into plan to eat.

I cleaned a bunch out and streamlined my tags. I added a low carb tag and am down to about 250 recipes. Matt is going to help me add the quick and easy tags this week as well as delete things he refuses to ever make again because they were a hassle. Then I'm going to add some from this new chiropractor I found on YouTube that is super into low carb with high veggie content.
