Bang!Zoom!
So there you are, having a perfectly normal kinda day and then there's this distant jingling sound of the ice cream truck..... Some people have an unnatural reaction to clowns. I have abnormal reactions to ice cream trucks. Common or clinical?
AK_Mom4
A reaction where you run down the street chasing the truck and waving a five dollar bill? Doesn't sound so abnormal to me
Mom-2-7
I hate them! They are dirty and turn a fun day into one full of whining, begging children. Then when they don't get the treat, they sulk.
BigMamaBird
They're so rare here it's like seeing a Unicorn!
Chris in VA
We used to have one visit us every day in our Dallas apt. I still hate "Pop! Goes The Weasel!" I think we bought ice cream from it a grand total of one time. When they don't really know what it is, they don't whine when it comes around... nmoira
I miss the ones that jingle. Here they blare midi type tunes at a volume too loud for the speakers. Loathe them, absolutely loathe them.

Bang!Zoom!
Oh that makes me laugh. A few weeks ago we went to a Chinese Buffet, very authentic crew working there, delicious food. Guess what was playing on the music system? Yep. Christmas music. I laughed and laughed, they had no idea.
nmoira
The ice cream trucks around here are insane. They drive down the street at 10 pm with their stupid ridiculous jingle. If I had a rocket launcher...

Reeciecup
When I was a kid the ice cream truck was awesome. Now that I'm an adult, not so much.

Belacqua
Ice cream trucks seem incredibly sinister to me after watching Dr Who. I find them sinister because I once saw a tv show about "would your kids do this?" Kids were set up to have the opportunity to display really poor decision making, such as accepting an invitation to "tour the inside of an ice cream truck" while the parents, who were in in it, watched secretly. It was truly horrifying to see how many kids who had been instructed over and over about staying safe were still willing to go into a truck with an affable stranger. Lisbeth
We avoid them. As in, go inside if we hear them nearby. I have read several stories of unsavory types manning those things. Also, we have food allergies. They give me the creeps.
Spryte
We call it the music truck. I don't know how old DS was before he figured out they sold ice cream. :) The ones that cruise through the neighborhood at bedtime really drive me crazy. magnificent_baby
In my area, the people who drive them are creepy. I usually say no because it's also so overpriced. I feel bad, because it was so fun to get a treat from the ice cream truck when I was little, so on a rare occasion we make a purchase. Pod's mum
We didn't have them as kids, so I first knew them in city house-sharing days, where we soon decided that loud slowed "Greensleeves" always meant creepy looking men trying to attract kiddies. My kids learned that they only play the music when they've run out of icecream ;) They soon learned it's a joke but they also know mum thinks icecream men and ballooon clowns are creepy-scary. Humour mum.
Orthodox6
We used to have one visit us every day in our Dallas apt. I still hate "Pop! Goes The Weasel!" Here in Carrollton, it's "Turkey in the Straw". Maybe I'll move south on I-35 for a change of tune!
Gentlemommy
We looooove our ice cream truck lady. ;) After telling her the kids heard her one Saturday and ran and missed her, she now stops AT OUR HOUSE on her route. The kids are allowed ice cream if they've done their school and chores all week without complaint. Best $3 I spend all week. ;)
Jennifer3141
We don't get ice cream trucks out here but when I go into town and if we see it, we follow it until it stops. Ours is manned by a woman who is a dead ringer for Salma Hayak. I cannot believe how beautiful she is. I get a kick out of watching DH stutter. :D

We have one here in the neighborhood, but kids know not to ask. Some friends ran one and we lived nearby, so we would buy from them occasionally. But most are too dirty around here. NotSoObvious
I hate them and don't let my kids buy ice cream. They can just add it to their lists of ways I've screwed them up...
PeacefulChaos
We have one occasionally in the summer. I have let the boys buy off of it once or twice. :) Most of the time I had given them popsicles long before it went by. It was convenient :D

AndyJoy
We moved to Okinawa from Las Vegas when I was 4. One morning I jumped out of bed to the sound of the "ice cream truck" at 5:30 am. Imagine my disappointment when I learned that Okinawan TRASH TRUCKS play music! My mother was disappointed too for a different reason--it took me a few weeks to remember that it wasn't ice cream! The ice cream trucks in the largish town near me aren't creepy or dirty. All the ones I've seen are driven by Hispanic men and feature a lot of tasty Mexican fruit pops as well as the big name brand items. They all have a decent selection of $1 items. I did laugh at the music the last truck I saw was playing--Christmas carols in September!
