RainbowSprinkles
Yesterday I was looking around on nameberry.com. I found a nane that I LOVE and I wanted to look it up. I was a little surprised that under famous people who also have that name, they put a p*rn star's name. Why would a parent who is considering a name want to know that a famous p*rn star also has that name?? I'm trying to decide if I still want to use it now. It's so beautiful. And my DH actually likes it. And we have the hardest time agreeing on names. Maybe I'm weird, but it does bother me somewhat. I'm sure I'll get over it eventually though. itsheresomewhere
If you think about it, just about every name out there is also a p*rn stars name, a murderers' name or just a nasty person name. If you like the name, name the baby the name you like.

SeekingSimplicity
Baby 'maming'... *snicker* Sometimes I just love typos ;) lol my first thought was I suppose you could put whatever you want to on a baby maming site. That's weird to start with. To the OP, I wouldn't let something the internet says influence my name choices too much. My oldest has the same name as a girl I new in high school that liked to smoke pot and got pregnant at 16. Didn't like the girl, but she had a beautiful name. I liked the name so much that I eventually gave it to my child. If you like the name, keep it. Don't worry about who else is named that, because chances are somebody out there you don't like (or somebody you know doesn't like) has that name. Dmmetler
I googled DD's name possibilities to make sure there wasn't anything too bad out there. Which is how I know that in 2004 there was a garage band in Seattle named "Allison's Hope".
airforcefamily
I did searches of any and all names we were thinking of. First name, first and middle, first and last, first middle and last. If it's just the first name it doesn't seem to matter but when more than one name matches people are going to think they were named after that person. As for knowing it is a p)rn star's name....I have mixed feelings about that. If it is a unique name that is closely associated with a p*rn star...yeah I'd want to know because *I* don't watch that stuff and I wouldn't want weirdos that do looking at my dd and thinking of a p*rn actress. OTOH, if it is a normal name that some one happens to have in that industry...meh...I could have done without knowing. I want to know the name. :)
BigMamaBird
Unless you're naming your child Chesty McHoneyBuns, I don't think your average, run of the mill person is going to equate your Dd's name with a porn star.

Why would a parent who is considering a name want to know that a famous p*rn star also has that name?? So that innocent parents who don't watch or know about porn won't name their kid something that has a negative connotation. Another example, you name your kid "John Wayne Smith" thinking only of the western movie star, and not knowing about other John Waynes, such as serial killer John Wayne Gacy -- would be nice to remember the creeps with that name to avoid them, if you feel strongly enough about it. I think this is the reason most people think anyone named Adolf must be a neo-Nazi, when there's nothing wrong with the name, but it has negative associations. BlsdMama
Let's say you lived under a rock but really thought "Stalin" sounded like a great, strong, boy's name. Well, that site would really help you, you know? Because it would be dreadful to find out what many people might associate your sweet pea's name with later.... After he's been named. I really don't want to wet my pants!!! That was funny. I almost googled the name to see if it was real. People really do need to think about names carefully....I knew a girl who was unmarried and at the last minute decided to give her new baby his father's last name....If she had thot it through she probably would not have named her son Michael Douglas. :glare:

lavender's green
If it was an unusual name, I'd want to know. My son would have had the same name as an overnight singing sensation if he'd been a girl, because I kind of live under a rock as far as pop culture goes. That's just not the sort of connotation I want my kid to project to the world, even if it's a lovely name.

This had me rolling on the floor laughing. My kids think I'm nuts! And pregnant women should probably steer away from any and all baby maming sites. ;) Ok - on that note, there was a blurb on a baby naming site that kept me from naming my daughter what my first choice name was. I do love the name we chose, but I still love the original name and it makes me a little sad we didn't use it. So if you still love the name and you had no idea about the name before, I'd stick with it.
ILiveInFlipFlops
Teagan :) It's a lovely name, one that's growing more common (so it's not like it would be just your baby and the p0rn star!), and you should use it if you want to. NorthwestMom
I think it's just so you know there's that connotation out there. I remember a mom on a different site many years ago who had her babies' names picked out from her childhood, then her DH vetoed the girls' name because it was a porn name. She was really heartbroken but agreed she didn't want grown men making that association when they met her DD.
I.Dup.
I think Teagan is a great name and common enough that it would NOT just be attributed to a p*rn star. Now a name like "Jenna" is different, because she is one of the most famous p*rn stars of all time.

He decided to Google my full name to see if it would come up that way, and instead he got a rather nasty surprise. Apparently, my full name is the same as some pretty hard-core p*rn star. The search came up with all of these links and DH called me at home freaking out. I was like, "DUDE, if that was ME I think we would have a LOT more money." We Googled her picture together at home later and discovered that she was definitely not me. :D

justLisa
I love that name. I always think of p*rn stars to have names like Kiki or fifi or Luscious something or the other. P8rn is pretty lame and cheesy.
OrganicAnn
I imagined it was going to be "Buck Naked" George Castanza's name if he were ever a p*rn star. Trish
Lots of people don't know porn stars' names. At best he/she would be a retired porn star by the time today's babies reach adulthood.
