katilac
Pin*trest or Pin*ter*est....just curious:) It's however one pronounces 'interest' with a P in front of it, lol! So either of those.

Guest
Funny. I did this poll before, too. I hear people say it both ways, but to me "Pin-trest" makes way more sense. Oh, editing: I thought it was between "Pin-trest" or "Pin-Interest." That's what I hear people say that doesn't seem logical to me.
Kathryn
I've never actually said it, but in my head, it's three syllables.
fraidycat
I say it the same way I say interest, which is basically two syllables, despite what the phonics rule of one vowel per syllable says. I only add the extra syllable *sometimes* when adding ing or ed. Interest - In - trest Interesting/Interested - In - ter - est or In - trest, both ways, depending on the context of the sentence and where the word falls in the sentence. And that is probably the most I've analyzed my speech patterns in, well probably forever. :tongue_smilie:
Chris in VA
Properly, or the lazy way I usually speak?;):D
SquirrellyMama
I actually don't say it the same as I would say interest. I say "intrest" and "pin-ter-est". Not sure why. I wonder if I heard someone say Pinterest before I saw the word spelled out. Kelly
Jean in Newcastle
I say "in-ter-est" and "pin-ter-est".
labst60
DH works in e-commerce so he deals with the topic of Pinterest frequently. He says it is always pronounced "Pin-trist" by folks in the ecommerce community.

dbmamaz
i never looked closely enough at it until you posted this . . in my head i've been saying 'pin-in-tryst'
xixstar
pin-ter-est just like in-ter-est with a 'p'. I don't think I say in-trest but I wouldn't be surprised to catch myself doing so in causal convesation. But now, when thinking on it, in-ter-est or pin-ter-est is how I pronounce it. I also pretty much mentally pronounce every word I read as well so I always find it amusing when people say they've never really thought of how a word was pronounced because they never say it. Desert Rat
Interest with a P in front. I assumed it meant Pin what Interests you.
Jean in Newcastle
Interest with a P in front. I assumed it meant Pin what Interests you. The problem is that some people pronounce interest as "in-trest" and some pronounce it as "In-ter-est".

I pronounce it both ways. Most of the time I probably pronounce it as pin-ter-est. Though yesterday it was simply pin-trest.

WagsWife
I voted other, because I actually say it both ways. When am just speaking it is normally pint-rest, but if I am reading I say pin-ter-rest. I have no idea why...but I do the same with photographer. If I am reading I say photo-graph-er, instead of the the normal way.

Seeking Squirrels
I don't say it the same way I say interest, even though I know that's what it stands for. I say in-ter-est and pin-trist. I've said pin-ter-est before, but usually I say it the two syllable way
Lady Florida.
I say interest and pinterest. But I also say care-a-mel when most people say carmel for caramel.
