mandymom
Are you in Texas somewhere? My in-laws have ashes raining down in their yard. They are about 5 miles from a massive fire that's been going for over a week.

Chelli
Simka, Be careful. I have a friend whose husband is working that fire trying to get it contained. Praying it won't get anywhere close to you guys. I'm really hating this drought.

We were at are horses in Sugarland and I am so thankful for a northernly wind. Here at least 10 can act as some sort of barrier.
simka2
Really? They are up near Magnolia in Montgomery County. This one just started this afternoon in George Bush State Park. I know they are having trouble because there are very few roads in the park. I REALLY want a hurricane!

I know they are having trouble because there are very few roads in the park. I REALLY want a hurricane! My sister lives just north of I-10 by this one. She sent me pictures of the sky. So incredibly scary. We've way past WANT; we NEED something major!!

milovany
Yup! that is what my kids came in and told me a few moments ago!!! Speaking of Prophet Elijah (different thread), ask for his intercessions! God worked through his prayers to end a drought once before .... "nothing is impossible with God." Lord have mercy on Houston and the surrounding areas.

Orthodox6
Simka, dear one -- May you and your neighbors all be safe. I'm going to post this also in the temporary Orthodox thread, but our friends just called with news that they lost their home in the Bastrop fire. They just found out a few minutes ago. The poor little girl (age 11) broke down on the phone telling me. My dd is out with dad and brother, and shall have to call her back. Mommyof4ks
Stay safe. Put all pictures and valuables near the door just in case. We are not near any major fires, but we have done this just in case we have to leave quickly. There are 'small fires' around us daily. :grouphug::grouphug:

amy g.
Keep us posted on how you are doing. I'm so ready for this to be over. Friday night, dh went to Magnolia to move our horses. He said the wall of fire to the north was like something out of an action movie. He felt like Rhett Butler fleeing Atlanta.

Rhonda in TX
How are things this morning? I checked the news this morning and it is 99% contained. That's very good. I was watching the news last night and they said we haven't had significant rainfall since Hurricane Ike. Wow!
Momto3indians
after our drought...we got hit hard and now we are on the other end...coming out of towns under water. simka2
Things seem calm this morning. The day before yesterday I saw smoke coming from the same area. Not nearly as much as yesterday, but a decent plume. I still do not know what that one was and am curious what the afternoon holds for today. Uggghhhh....I think what is exhausting is never knowing where the next fire will pop up at.
Mama Geek
There was a fire in the park the other day that was different from yesterdays fire. I saw that in one of the articles that I was reading this morning.

TKDmom
:grouphug: I hope you guys get some rain soon. It would have been awesome if Lee had gone a little farther west... We flew across the country this weekend. I was busy wrestling a toddler (so I didn't look out the window), but DH said he knew when we were over Texas because everything was completely brown and he could see smoke rising up in places.
