  1. in this same vein, Riddley Walker by Russel Hoban. i found it much more difficult than Clockwork Orange, also much more rewarding. :)
  2. we're out Katy way and may be interested as well. :)
  3. OP, your first picture is literally 3 miles from my house! :)
  4. i never thought of the future much. i was a talented cellist and just kinda assumed that would be what my future held...of course, i was wrong. ;) my 2 youngest kids are huge dreamers, and it's always struck me as strange. every day, at least 3 times a day per kid, i hear; 'when i grow up, i'm going to...insert big dream here' i've asked close friends if their kids do this, but i guess it's just my little weirdlings.
  5. i'm a barefoot runner, so these look suspicious to me. when running, a heel strike is bad news even if you have a trampoline strapped to your foot. :001_huh:
  6. the Cave Without a Name outside of Boerne is my favorite cave i've been to in Texas. it's beautiful and personal. it doesn't have that really tourist-ey feel; our tour consisted of my family and one other family.
  7. for myself personally, i don't think i'll ever be able to. it gets out of control very quickly. i allow myself birthday cake and ice cream on birthdays and maybe a dessert on holidays, but that's it. otherwise i'd be digging my size 22 pants out again. :001_huh:
  8. i have had better results with this product than anything else out there: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/en/browse/sku_detail.jsp?id=UI-1003
  9. i'm the eldest of 1 brother 3 half-sisters 1 half-brother 1 step-sister so that's the eldest of 6 (all but my real brother are my kid's age and younger. it's so strange.)
  10. i eat a ketogenic diet as a lifestyle. here are some examples of what i might eat any day: breakfast: eggs fried in butter or coconut oil bacon, ham, or sausage coffee with whole cream lunch: 1 cup whole fat bulgarian or greek yogurt 1 oz walnuts 1tbsp flaxseed or chia seed 1 scoop flavored whey protein or a big salad with tuna in olive oil and a high fat dressing snack: nuts peanut butter and celery cheese veggie sticks and ranch dip dinner: any meat in any amount. lamb is my favorite :001_wub: any veggies minus potatoes if i make chicken i usually incorporate bacon and cheese. chicken with homemade alfredo sauce is great too. you can do some interesting dessert things with whey protein as well. the bodybuilding.com forums has a keto recipes section has some good stuff. HTH good luck!
  11. my daughter has thrown up from too much sugary/starchy food before. and it gives her a headache and makes her sleepy. in fact, she's the only kid i've ever known not to finish a snowcone or popsicle because it 'has too much sugar'.
  12. i think your predicament is very prevalent in America. nearly everyone here has a definite separation from our cultural roots. i identify strongly with my German heritage, but also with my Texan heritage and my heritage as a Southerner. maybe you should do some research on your roots and the customs and traditions of your ancestors. good luck!
