NCJessieRN
I just found out I was pregnant last wk with a positive hpt. I'm not sure of the date of my lmp but was pretty sure I was really early. I started bleeding on Friday. Not too heavy but I was concerned. I had an u/s yesterday and it showed a very small sac and fluid in the uterus. The doctor said it looks like I'm in the process of a miscarriage. She did say there is a very small chance that I could just be too early to tell but she said that is most likely not the case. The bleeding has pretty much stopped. I haven't had any cramping. My question is, if you have had a miscarriage, has there always been a lot of bleeding AND cramping? Pink Fairy
I've had two miscarriages. Bleeding yes, heavy cramping, no. Light cramping, yes. I'm so sorry for your loss. :grouphug:
Nakia
I'm so sorry, Jessica. I know this is very hard. Here is how my miscarriage went: Saturday am: a little spotting, no cramps Saturday pm: moderate bleeding, no cramps Sunday am: very, very, very heavy bleeding and severe cramps that lasted until my D&C on Wednesday :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: ETA: I was 9 weeks pregnant, but my baby only measured 6 weeks at the time of my loss. swellmomma
My miscarriages always had cramping with the bleeding, like menstrial cramps but then so have a few of my normal pregnancies. If the bleeding has stopped and you have no cramping I would go back in a week for a repeat u/s. With 3 out of 4 of my kids I had bleeding in the first trimester, with one of them(my youngest) I bled from day one until delivery. With ds6 I had implantation bleeding. I thought I was starting my period early, but then after a couple days it stopped. It was blood from when the egg implanted in the uterus. He is a very loud rambunctious 6 yr old now so Iw ould not write off your pg just yet if the bleeding has stopped and no cramping. I think the dr was premature in declaring a m/c with no other signs like decreasing hcg count etc. Get a 48 hour blood draw and a repeat u/s and you may find this dr was too hasty. littlebug42
My first miscarriage had no bleeding and no cramping. I was not aware I had even lost the baby until my ultrasound at 10 weeks showed no heartbeat. I had to have a D& C. My second miscarriage was very early and amounted to no more than a heavy period. My OB said that if I hadn't been trying to get pregnant and looking for it, I would have probably never even known I was pregnant at all. I pray for a very positive outcome for you. NCJessieRN
Thank you ladies! I want to be hopeful but I don't want to get my hopes up either. I did have a miracle experience with #4 and I know miracles happen every day! I chose not to do the lab work b/c I don't have insurance until May 1st. I know that sounds silly but we had to pay almost $500 out of pocket just for the u/s and doctor visit. The doctor said that I can take a hpt in 2 wks and see if it is neg. or pos. The bleeding didn't just stop. It was like a period. I agree that you need to have blood work done to test your HCG levels. :grouphug: Michele
IsabelC
Could be a very early mc, or could be an implantation bleed. Take care of yourself ((()))
OnTheBrink
My m/c was heavy bleeding to the point of requiring hospitalization. I didn't have cramps, even after the D&C. However, with my dd, I did bleed a bit and cramp a bit, then it stopped and there were no other problems.

I have had 5 misses where we let nature take its course. Two were similar to a period. One was very early and pretty light. One had me on the couch with cramps but no more bleeding than that of a period, and one where I hemmoraged [ok I don't know how to spell that] and had to go to the hospital for an emergency D&C. That one was completely painless. Long story short, they were different. I would wait. I was supposed to miscarry my now 4 yr old. Here's hoping. :grouphug:
Brenda in FL
I've had 3 miscarriages - and had little bleeding - no cramping. However, may I suggest that if possible you do nothing until you are further along? If you are going to be home anyway - just wait it out - because I have heard too many times, stories of women who were told they were going to miscarry and then the heartbeat finally shows up. I know this is a very difficult time - and it is so hard to wait things out and so hard to know whether to be hopeful or to start grieving - I am so sorry that you have to go through this. :grouphug:
Brindee
I agree to wait it out and see what happens! I hope this is a miracle for you!!! I only had one m/c. It was my first, and I didn't know what was happening. I bled a LOT for a long time, and it was VERY painful!
NCJessieRN
I am waiting... I was reminded of two of my favorite songs I'm waiting I'm waiting on You, Lord And I am hopeful I'm waiting on You, Lord Though it is painful But patiently, I will wait I will move ahead, bold and confident Takeing every step in obedience While I'm waiting I will serve You While I'm waiting I will worship While I'm waiting I will not faint I'll be running the race Even while I wait I'm waiting I'm waiting on You, Lord And I am peaceful I'm waiting on You, Lord Though it's not easy But faithfully, I will wait Yes, I will wait I will serve You while I'm waiting I will worship while I'm waiting I will serve You while I'm waiting I will worship while I'm waiting I will serve you while I'm waiting I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord se 1: This is my prayer in the desert And all that's within me feels dry This is my prayer in the hunger in me My God is a God who provides Verse 2: And this is my prayer in the fire In weakness or trial or pain There is a faith proved Of more worth than gold So refine me Lord through the flames Chorus: And I will bring praise I will bring praise No weapon forged against me shall remain I will rejoice I will declare God is my victory and He is here Verse 3: And this is my prayer in the battle And triumph is still on it's way I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ So firm on His promise I'll stand Bridge: All of my life In every season You are still God I have a reason to sing I have a reason to worship Verse 4: This is my prayer in the harvest When favor and providence flow I know I'm filled to be empited again The seed I've recieved I will sow

MariannNOVA
Jessica: I understand totally waiting till you have insurance -- just hang in there. Prayers and :grouphug: for you. I've had four miscarriages and one was heavy, heavy bleeding and painful cramping requiring hospitalization, one was light cramping and period-type bleeding, and the remaining two were asymptomatic. Take it easy, and let us know what happens.
freeindeed
:grouphug: I am so sorry. I've had two miscarriages. The first time I had light bleeding and light cramping. rafgaf4
I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks. I had no bleeding at all. I went in for a regulary checkup and ultrasound and they discovered that the baby had passed away. My body never did miscarry completely. I had to have a DNC performed. I continued to have morning sickness right up until the morning the DNC was performed. This was the saddest day of my life. :crying:
GWOB
I just wanted to give you a big :grouphug:. My first m/c was awful. Tons of bleeding and cramping. I was around 12 weeks, though the ultrasound measured the baby at 8 weeks. My second was similar to your situation. I had just missed when I took the test. I went in to the doc on a Monday and had a +HCG. By Friday I was losing the baby. I would never had known unless I was looking for him/her. It was just like a very heavy period. OTOH, I have a friend who was supposed to have a m/c. Her dd is a lovely and vibrant 3yo. One may always hope and pray for the best outcome. Praying that you get to meet your child here:grouphug:. When I had my miscarriage, I started bleeding lightly, spotted for a couple of days, then stopped. A week later I miscarried in earnest. Then again, I've had scares with two of my children...heavy bleeds followed by completely uneventful healthy pregnancies. This probably doesn't help much. I'm sorry. tkeller
I think how much you bleed and how much pain you have has to do with how far along you are. With my first miscarriage I had no idea there was anything wrong until my 6 week ultrasound (We were doing fertility treatments so they were watching me closely) no fetal pole, no heartbeat. I continued to have no signs of trouble until I was almost 12 weeks pregnant when I started having cramps, and lots of bleeding. Second one was ectopic and I did have slight bleeding with that one until they had to remove it surgically. I have heard lots of women go back for another ultrasound and there is the baby's heart thumping away! Hopefully this will be the case for you! :grouphug:
cjbeach
First, many hugs. :grouphug: I was 8 weeks and had some light spotting. It was a Saturday a.m. but my doc wanted me seen for an U/S just to see what was going on - sadly there was no heartbeat. I had a vag u/s and I honestly think that the invasiveness basically got things going. After the u/s the plan was to go back in 2 days to see specialist but a few hours lated I passed a large clot (had probably been pooling - because it was large, about 10cm). After I passed the clot I started with passing a LOT of frank blood. I went to the ER and had a D&C that night, primarily to stop the bleeding. P&PTs for you! NCJessieRN
Thanks to all of you for your prayers! I did end up having a miscarriage. But, I know that in ALL things God works everything for good and even though I'm sad, I know that this too shall pass and if anything, I am more empathetic to those who have experienced the loss of an unborn child. Dawn in OH
My only miscarriage occurred very early and involved no more bleeding or cramping than a normal period. I do however get fairly heavy periods. If I hadn't known I was pregnant, I would have dismissed it as a late period.

Desert Rat
:grouphug: I had a miscarriage that sounds like yours. I had a positive HPT and went on vacation with my mom after making an apt. to see an OB. I started bleeding on the way home. I got an apt. the same day and they said my levels were borderline but that I had an early miscarriage. No cramping and regular bleeding. I'm so sorry for your loss. :(
