  1. It is an honest warning. The truth has been coming out by quite a few families that I believe were afraid to step up before. There were people that have been bullied and harassed by Dayna's husband, Joe Martin, so people kept quiet..until now. Here is just one blog of one person's experience with the Martin family and there are other past blogs that are resurfacing. http://unschoolingthegreenfamily.blogspot.com/2013/07/watching-unschooling-pieces-crumble.html
  2. I have lived in Minnesota for over 43 years--very used to ticks. We own a commercial dog kennel-in the country-so we are outside 3/4 of the day and we find numerous ticks each day. The only ones I worry about are the SUPER TINY ones! If we pull a tiny tick off of any of us we take a marker and circle the spot to keep an eye on it and also mark the calendar-then go to dr if fever develops. I have noticed as I have aged-that I have a reaction to all ticks--that I did not have when I was younger.....not a thing the dr can do--just advised me to take benadryl to reduce the swelling...This is a tremendously awful year for them--but I still prefer ticks to mosquitos! Oh-and I have read somewhere that ticks do not like vinegar--I have started adding acv to my diet...for other reasons--but it would be a plus if it kept ticks from biting me!!:001_smile:
  3. :iagree: I would be thankful that the bird did not belong to a client!! This is what can happen when one takes care of animals....and it is a lesson learned--the extremely hard way. :grouphug:
  4. :iagree: My oldest ds is visually impaired. Not blind--but he does have severe impaired vision. He does have to field a lot of questions when he uses his cane out in public-since people can tell that he does have vision--they just do not understand that he does not have enough vision to be without his cane nor does he have enough vision to pass a drivers test. So when the questions come-he does inform them that he does have a visual impairment.

  8. to make me feel better my youngest ds decided to make me some nutella filled croissants!! he is in the kitchen humming, whistling and having a great time. I am feeling better already!:001_smile: He will make a fine husband some day!
  9. I keep whatever is left and replace with new and I share the goodies...even if I have to make a larger batch---but I never expect anyone to do the same thing when borrowing from me.
  10. HILARIOUS!! I cannot believe I missed seeing so many of these....I thought I was on here at least a dozen times daily....:glare:
  11. This is why rules are made!!! I don't want to be sitting in a theater with people that are drinking alcoholic beverages! That would not make for a fun movie--or it could.....depending on how entertaining the drinkers are....;) I do not understand why someone would think that bringing beer to the movie theater is not against the rules---but then I guess the way of thinking for them is--if people can bring in their own snacks or pop--then what is wrong with bringing in some brewskies??
  12. We deal with this quite frequently--my family owns an Event Center that is rented out for different family/business gatherings. In our contract it does stipulate that we do not allow any outside beverages into our building. It is mostly because there are alcoholic beverages at these gatherings---and we need to keep everyone safe--second reason is- we need to make $$, which is why we are in business. There are so many costs that our clients/potential clients do not realize--the biggest being insurance costs. It does cost $$ to every time we open the doors and turn on lights, flush toilets, turn on heat/air conditioning--other costs are: toilet paper, paper towels, soap, cleaning, upkeep of building/grounds, taxes, staff, garbage disposal, and the list goes on.....We could charge more for the rental of the building--but we chose to make up on the sale of beverages. We have had people complain that they do not want to purchase beverages through us---we then give them a list of other rentals in the area--they will find the same thing pretty much everywhere.
  13. :iagree::lol: I once told my son---I dare you to NOT learn a darn thing today!!! Guess what he did??? He took off running to go learn as many things as possible!!!
