gandpsmommy
Here's what we are planning to use:  Lively Latin Big Book II Righstart Math D First Language Lessons 3 Writing With Ease Level 3 Story of The World 3 All About Spelling Level 4 Spanish for Children Abeka Cursive handwriting R.E.A.L. Chemistry  She does competitive gymnastics at least 10 hours a week, and she might play soccer or take swimming classes. So we don't do much with physical education at home besides letting her have time to play on the swingset, ride her bike, hit tennis balls at the courts 2 miles away, etc.  She takes private piano lessons, but we'll probably check out library books for music history and cd's for music appreciation.  In the past we have used Artisitic Pursuits, but I feel that she is ready for something more. So, I'm still looking around for a good drawing program and we will most likely enroll her in classes at the art museum.  We either buy or check out children's novels from the library for reading as we go along. Right now she is reading her fourth book in the Little House series, so she might want to finish those. But, we just sort of choose those as we go along. Ditto for free reading.  I haven't quite decided about literature yet. This year we read D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths and we're finishing up DK's Children's Illustrated Bible. We have D'Aulaires' Book of Norse Myths, but I haven't decided whether to use it or not.  We'll probably finish up The Geography Book for geography and just work on memorizing regions of the world. This year we worked on continents. Next year I'd like to start on countries. Edited May 27, 2009 by gandpsmommy
SLH in ND
This is what I did with my 3rd grader (this would be 2 yrs. ago, as she is going into 5th grade now) and I pretty much used the same thing with my 2 older dd, as well.  Math - Saxon 3 and since we school year-round, we got started on Saxon 54 as soon as 3 was completed  History - SOTW 3 & a Catholic history text for the same time period were the spine, then I followed suggestions from TWTM for supplemental reading.  Science - The Elements (mainly)  MCP Phonics C  MCP Maps, Charts, & Graphs C  Abeka Spelling & Poetry 3  Grammar/Writing - we enroll in Seton Home Study's program for English.  Latin - We had good intentions with PL, but the teacher wasn't on top of it and if I must say, maybe had a negative attitude about doing it, :blushing: so it never really did get accomplished.  Religion  Piano  Tennis  Sheri :)

CarynB
Our plans are yet to be finalized - 8-) but here's what I'm thinking so far:  Grammar: R&S 3  Math: CLE 2 (have to work our way up after a bizillion curr. changes!) with Singapore 2  Spelling: BSS 3 (CLP not Evan-Moor)  History: SOTW 3 with Activity Book and loosely following TOG 3 for American Focus (and I would love to add in either the Civil War or The Early 19th Century Time Traveler's Packs from homeschoolinthewoods.com) or History Pockets  Science: Apologia Astronomy with lapbooks  Nature Study: Handbook of Nature Study with CLP Nature Readers and library books. We will also do the One Hour outdoor Nature Challenge along with this blog:http://handbookofnaturestudy.blogspot.com/  Bible: as a family with Scripture Memory system from simplycharlottemason.com  Handwriting: Italics books D and E  Literature: made up lists from AO, TOG, WTM, Simply Charlotte Mason and Books Children Love  Reading: DITHOR Level 3 (not necessarily weekly)  Latin: Song School Latin with younger siblings  Other stuff: Little Keepers or Keepers at Home, Possibly CLE Spanish 1  Of course, next weekend we're going to the Iowa Homeschooler's Convention so who knows what may change after that! 8-)  Blessings,
