Lecka
When are people getting flu shots? Are they out already?
mommyoffive
We just did well child visits at the end of August and they were not out then. Normally our old ped would say to do it over Thanksgiving break time. But that was before Covid. All I know is I am getting them not with my covid booster. I did that last year and I was sick for 5 days or more. I don't know if it was the 2 shots together or what? Spreading them out this year. I think I want to wait until at least Oct.
scholastica
I usually do October. I plan to do my Covid booster a few weeks after that. They are out now because college dd got hers already.

kokotg
They're out now; I got one last night at cvs at the same time as my covid booster (TWO sore arms! but not too bad, particularly the flu arm) 2
Lecka
I think just with logistics it would be good for us to get the Covid booster and flu shot at the same time. It would be much simpler. I don’t want to have people get sick, though. I don’t remember us getting sick before, but I don’t have a good memory for things like that.
Kassia
We always get ours in October with the idea that protection will last through most of the spring (around 6 months).
kbutton
My family doctor says the shots last longer than they used to, but DH is more of the mind to watch the flu map. He was still diagnosing flu in July. For us, this means November, sometimes late November. The CDC has published data, so you can look at previous years to see what cases generally begin in your area. It starts earlier in the south, IIRC. If we planned Thanksgiving gatherings, we might move it up, but we don’t do big gatherings with indoor food unless people mask in all indoor settings for ten days or so ahead of time, so our likelihood of getting flu is pretty low so early. In past years, some family gatherings that we haven’t been there for have been flu parties. Christmas is really when it ramps up here.
Hilltopmom
I usually do mine between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Last year I got it with my covid booster and wound up sick for several days and got a cold sore and was miserable. Separating them this year.
Dmmetler
One of my piano parents told me last night to get it along with my COVID Booster this weekend because they've had more kids admitted due to flu so far this year than they usually have. I often get one in the fall and then one in Jan or so at my immunologist's recommendation anyway. So smart!
HSmomof2
We always get our flu shots in September and have ever since I had the flu in 1995. Haven’t had the flu since then.
MEmama
I scheduled mine at the same time as my Covid booster.

I know it's been discussed that Covid is causing people to be more ill with other viruses.
Ottakee
I usually do October but just got mine an hour ago. I could get the new COVID booster and they suggested both so I did both. I am traveling twice in 2 weeks and have a funeral coming up so it made sense for me to just do it now.
Lady Florida.
Our flu season usually starts in October so I get my shot late September-early October. This year I'll probably do it when I get the new Covid vaccine/booster, which hopefully will be the week after next. I'd rather not have to go back and get another shot in just a week or two. Lecka
I just heard from my friend, her son has the flu, at the university in our town. So I’m looking to sign us up now. I had been planning to wait until October. We’re in Oklahoma.
