They should do this more often.
Sure would beat hearing the prof at 2dd's induction (into her doctoral) program talk about how nice it was to see the students dressed like grown up, and she "expected" as of the next day they'd be wearing pjs.

I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot lately as I look for craft ideas I can do with sick kids. It’s crazy.

I was teaching in a preschool in 2001, and we were not allowed to do toilet roll craft or accept them as donations, for that reason - grossness.

To Say Nothing of the Dog includes this - Connie Willis.

That's the author I was thinking of too. She did Blackout and All Clear (WW2 time travel) too, with not insignificant mentions of the challenges of the costume department.

Yeah, but that one was actually GOOD.  The one I’m thinking of was a series of like ten books and really wasn’t great.  Fun but not great. When I get home, I will find it.

I loved this one and I don't do sci-fi. Lots of fun Golden Age references plus Oxford and Coventry Cathedral.

But she was doing her civic duty *within* her home.  :-D

(not arguing against women working, just having some fun with the logic)
