Pucker

This one took me all day! I finally remembered that when I was in Colorado back in May I saw a rock structure called “Kissing Camels” at Garden of the Gods. I didn’t get the best photos, but if you look carefully you can see the outline of two camels.

It’s midnight here, a may be a busy day tomorrow. For the topic of “Made me laugh,” I happened across a perfect one, which is actually a video. I cannot remember the story behind it, but it is DS13 laughing uncontrollably, saying, “I don’t know what’s so funny.” Which, of course, is hilarious! And I took a still as well, so it must have been very good! Alas, you can totally tell it’s DS, so I won’t put it on the internet.

I kept scrolling through the photos on my phone, and came across this, taken at a park while I was in Québec:

My son makes me laugh. Usually unintentionally. I often glance at him and think, “WHAT is is doing?”

In the top photo I caught him outside the living room window munching on the cranberry and popcorn garland we’d put out for the birds after Christmas. The others are just photos I’ve snapped at various times and sent to dh, “This child came from your side of the family.”

Ok, I couldn’t narrow it down so you get three.

Marshmallow the toad who has lived in our garage for 4 years trying to get into the freezer. (Since Marshmallow never grows it is highly possible this is actually Marshmallow the 4th).94C3049E-12EB-4F35-94E5-234F487A1D1B.thumb.jpeg.3401065e6ed5d9face11518cfefb6ca2.jpeg

My son the day after we got home from a trip.  He was overwhelmed by the unpacking  and laundry sorting.

A sign I drive past most days during the summer.

Our pets always make us laugh. The first one is our now 10yo cat. The first week she was here with us (at 8 weeks old) she disappeared. We were in a panic trying to find her. Did she get out somehow? Is she trapped in something? We checked closets, under and behind furniture, and all other possible cat hiding places. Finally we found her right under our noses, sleeping in my crochet bag next to the couch. The sleepy look on her face says, "What? What's going on?"

The next ones are from when our Sheltie first came home. First up was during Hurricane Charley (Dingo came home to us 3 days before the storm arrived). Thankfully 7yo ds had a new puppy to keep him busy while we were hunkered down, and later without power. We didn't realize until the pictures were developed (yes it was a film camera lol) that the photo of him with his new puppy looks like he's choking him. The other pictures are from when Dingo used to pine for the puppy in the dishwasher. He wanted desperately to play with his friend. He would even sleep there hoping the other dog would eventually come out and play.

So. I told my kids to stand together, but they didn't want to be near to one another. So they did this. And ended up looking like a Contemporary Christian band, minus the quirky hats and glasses. I texted the photo to my brother and he responded.

Last, this is a polish chicken. They are a never ending source of entertainment. This one's name is Bon-Bon after Jon Bon Jovi.

(It's the hair)

It Made Me Laugh:

This is Mayhem - she lives up to her name. Daily she nests in my bath mat and I find it crinkled up and across the room. She's really truly derpy (check out the second pic). She's the litter mate of Eclipse who sleeps with her head under the furniture; I think there was something wrong in that cat family.

Black and white cats are the silliest! Our tuxedo cat does a similar thing to your bath mat. The cats like to sleep on the chairs on our screen porch. We put old towels on them so they don't get full of cat hairs. She messes up the towels so that she's laying on the chair cushion anyway.

These are fun to look at today.  My day started out bad with youngest being sick, so it is fun to look at funny pictures.

This is a picture of my youngest about 8 years ago.  He hated using his nebulizer, but really needed it.  The only way he would let me do it was if I let him wear his dog costume.

It Made You Laugh:

I'm still scared to post my first choice -- LOL.  Here is one from 1995.  My first fur baby!  She was getting into my Christmas ribbon and wrap and I put these on her head.  She was not too happy with me.  It was my Christmas card the following year!

We had one of those huge, um, “phallic organic lawn fungus decorations” this year.  I took a picture standing over it, but that viewpoint doesn’t do justice to the side view my neighbors were getting from their front windows.

I haven’t contributed to this thread yet but here’s one of DS9’s spelling assignments from a year or so ago.  He had no idea why this cracked me up so much.  The 90’s... so long ago...

I wish our cats would get along as well as @Stacia's cats.

@BarbecueMom's post reminded me of our great niece. Dh's nephew has twin daughters. This is from one of them and based on their personalities it's actually NOT the one you would have expected this from. The teacher thankfully did not mark her down but instead explained what was actually expected.

It made me laugh.

Franklin is so sweet; look at that patient face. Mine acts like you want to cut her feet off.

That’s how our Polly is. I pay the vet to cut her nails. She doesn’t get aggressive, she just tries to get away and she’s really strong!

Ah, sadly, none of the cats in those photos are still with us. (The white cat in my earlier photo & the orange cat, along with another one of our cats passed away in 2013 -- two of them on the same day. The black cat & the black & white cat, along with another one of our cats, passed away last year -- two of them in the same week. Rough times. I still miss all of them so much. Each of them had such a great personality.)

At this point, we have four cats & they are great too. All relatively young-ish & healthy for the most part. Knock on wood. They don't get along as well as the ones in the photos I posted & there are a few scraps going on now & then. But, our Siamese loves, loves, loves our flame point boy -- she has eyes only for him. She's always wanting to hug up on him. He mostly looks mildly irritated when she's snuggling him but generally he goes with it.

Libby the Disabled Wonder Dog.  How in the world did she get into one of the rabbit's cages?  (We had to take it apart to get her out. . . )

When we had a rabbit (Jar Jar Binks aka Binky), he would shake his cage so vigorously that the mastiff would feel sorry for him and she'd paw the door until it opened. Frequently, we would find rabbit and mastiff hanging out together in the house...

Favorite things, taken from my current situation. I love being up early on a weekend morning, with the house quiet, sitting in my sunroom (my favorite spot), drinking coffee from my Hogwarts mug, with my books and knitting nearby and looking out onto my garden.

Favorite Things:

I tried posting this at 6 am when I took it, but my phone wasn’t cooperating.  I love our summer swim meets and the calm before the storm ?.  It rained on us about 3/4 of the way through, but we got it done. One meet left and we can start sleeping in again on Saturday mornings.

You've seen pictures of my favorite animals. . .    And I put a pic up of my favorite kids when they were really little . . .   I don't put up recent pictures of us on the internet so no pics of my favorite husband. . .

I am in the midst of camp prep for the summer camp where I have been on staff for the last 7 years.  It really is one of my favorite things in the year, though right now I'm in that love-hate thing that I go through during the camp prep time each year.

This picture is of the two crafts I figured out yesterday.  A duct tape wallet and a "paracord buddy" keychain.  There will be lots more crafts but these were the ones I was most unsure about since I had never done them before.

...and still does! Hysterically when I recall my failed attempt at the perfect Pinterest-y Xmas picture (long before Pinterest existed). The baby screamed bloody murder while I tried to squeeze her into the jammies that were sewn wrong. These pics are all I got out of the hour ordeal. The name is even misspelled on the hat. ?

Traveling is my favorite thing. We road trip every summer, even the college kids. These are from Painted Desert, AZ, Blue Hole in Santa Rosa NM, Uranus Fudge Factory (really) in Uranus, MO, a new playground near Jefferson Memorial Arch, City Museum in St. Louis, and Ren Faire in Kenosha, WI.

Favorite things.

I enjoy going stargazing with DH.  This week I decided to try doing night photography, so I studied up a bit on it.  I got some really interesting pictures.  This is one I really liked.  It was taken at Elk Rock view point facing Mt. St. Helens.  It isn't quite as sharp and I would have liked, but I think I will keep practicing.
