KrissiK
(((Krissi))) (((Susan))) I would cut toenails for money. I want to go somewhere close to you guys so we can have lunch. That would be so fun. (It's a lot of lunch, due to the scattered nature of your homes, but that's something I'm willing to do for you.) Yay for chocolate cake! Happy party! Susan in TN
So, i’ve Been thinking a lot about all y’all’s answers to my dilemma re: DS2 and I have concluded that all y’all are no help at all. 😜. Everyone made very good points, so I have decided to use the Scarlett O’Hara method, “I’m not going to think about that right now. I’ll think about that tomorrow.†👠Sometimes it's best to let issues marinate for a while.

Jean in Newcastle
I know, right?? I’ll tell you this, I am not paying the school for what he charged. If they don’t get permission from the parents, they have no right letting the kids charge $$ for lunch. Just a curious question: is he supposed to pack a lunch? Has he been forgetting it at home? Trading it away?

Paige
It makes me want to vomit, too, but it also kind of makes me want to do something like that. Not with feet or toenails, because that is gross, but just.... something simple to make people happy and earn a little cash. I agree. It's a genius idea if I could stomach it. I'd love to have a part time job with senior citizens doing something like that but if there's anything that would give me a panic attack it would be a roomful of feet I had to touch. It would be what did me in on Fear Factor!
Paige
I had lunch with Paige today!! We realized that we live sort-of nearish each other, so we arranged to meet for lunch. And then the weather didn't cooperate and we rescheduled. So, today we finally got to meet. She's super nice and our kids are near the same age. (Well, except for her Baby.) I got to meet him too. He was such a good little boy and slept all through lunch. It was so nice to meet you! If you hurried up and had another baby, then everyone could have a friend. :thumbup1: (((Krissi))) (((Susan))) I would cut toenails for money. JoJosMom
I just read the weekly email from FIL. On Tuesday, MIL drove him to his dr. appt. and accidentally left the car in 1st gear when parking. So as FIL was getting out of the car, it started to roll and knocked FIL to the ground AND knocked him OUT! He ended up in the ER in Albany (an hour north) and he was OK - CAT scan was normal. :svengo: Also, he paid a podiatrist $50 (specialist co-pay) to cut his toenails. FIL can't reach his feet and MIL won't do it. :svengo: Yikes, Susan! Glad he's okay. Re. the podiatrist: Have they contacted their insurance company? Medicare covered my grandmother's trips to the podiatrist for this same issue. She could not do it herself any longer, but she didn't want my mom (who had been an RN) to do it.

JoJosMom
Having had the whole "in the hospital in a coma for the month" experience kinda changed my perspective re. doing icky things for others. When one naps for a month, one loses much conditioning. So things like going to the potty or showering are no longer things that one can do on one's own. I remember the first time that I was fully conscious and needed help toileting. I was finally "me" again, and I was humiliated. The nurses aide who help me was the most beautiful, most gentle, most kind person on the planet. While I blubbered and apologized, she just stroked my hair and said, "Please, let me bless you." I still cry thinking about it. Maybe someday I'll be half the Christian and half the person she is.

Renai
I have more problems with vomit than I do with feet. Growing up, our church would do a foot washing every New Year's Eve. Jean in Newcastle
There was a time when I was our neighborhood “Momâ€. I got called to help one person dispose of an aquarium full of dead fish. And I helped with the carpet cleaning after a dog had diarrhea. And I helped the lady who called to tell me that her “dead baby was in the toilet “ (miscarriage). I did tell the lady who called to tell me that her husband had a fever and could I go to the store to get him some soup, to go get it herself. All the gross things that happen to living and dead bodies don’t bother me but being unnecessarily helpless does. They are on Medicaid, I think, but I don't think they have great options where they are. Most services are covered, but they have lots of co-pays. I wonder if there's a local nail salon they could call.

Paige
Or maybe I’m not cool. I like feet. I used to give foot massages to people in my dorm in college. For free. :D That gives me the squicks. I couldn't even watch. DH knows there will be NO love in the house if people aren't wearing socks. I can't handle it. Little Baby feet are fine, but once they start approaching my size I don't deal well. And, of course, my child would be the one who has CP primarily affecting her foot that I had to touch to stretch every day. Thank goodness it was small! I'll clean up all the blood, vomit, snot, poop, urine, slobber, and half eaten drooly food, but please no feet. I don't want anyone to touch mine either. I shudder at the thought. I've never had a pedicure or foot rub and hope I never will.

Renai
Ds10 feels pretty sick. But no fever, no cough, no congestion. Just threw up twice yesterday, has body aches, and is sleeping a lot. I've been waking him up about every 15 minutes to sip ginger ale or coke (that's all he will drink right now), and I got about a fourth of an ice pop down him. He finally took some Tylenol for the pain a few minutes ago (yesterday he threw it up) and now he's in the bathtub. I have him elderberry syrup twice yesterday, but I'm not so sure about continuing. Yesterday he had chills, today he asked for a fan because he was hot. Anything I'm not thinking of? ETA: I didn't wake him up every 15 minutes all night long, but quite frequently. 1. Netflix 2. This is...not nice. (I hate being woke up, lol)

KrissiK
All this flu stuff is kind of freaking me out. It’s kind of making me wonder if my lazy impulse to let the kids sleep in and watch too much peg and cat rather than getting them out the door for storytime or daily Mass or whatever might actually be the smart move. Thankfully the weather’s actually been kind of nice (if super muddy) here so I can take them on walks. At this point, I think keeping kids away from people is the best idea.
