*********
The day dad had his heart attack, I put Matthew 6:34 (same verse as in my siggy) on the white board in his room. It's just the verse I felt the Lord gave me for all of us at that time, and my sisters and mom were encouraged by it. That verse is still on his board, 26 days later. Next time I see him (tomorrow or Sunday), I want to take a sheet of paper with that verse on it to put up in his room, so that the staff can have the board space back. Plus, the writing is getting smuged on the white board. I would like to add another verse to the paper. Something about the Lord's peace maybe? I don't know. This is for me, my sisters, and my mom; something for us to meditate on while sitting at dad's beside for hours. Something to give us comfort, hope, healing; something. Anyone have any suggestions? Susan C. Mommie_Jen
Psalm 27 1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When the wicked advance against me to devour[a] me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. 3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. 4 One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. 6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. 7 Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. 8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!†Your face, Lord, I will seek. 9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. 10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. 11 Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. 12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. 13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. NancyNellen
These two verses were so helpful and comforting for our family when my FIL passed away last June. Tiberia
2 Cor. 4:16 "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day." I read this at my mom's funeral last year. This verse characterizes her last month on earth. Her outward body was declining fast before our eyes, but we could tell that she was being renewed on the inside, even as she slipped from this world. I'm praying for you and your family. Twigs
Psalm 91 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!†3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. 5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; 6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. 7 A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. 8 You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked. 9 For you have made the Lord, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. 10 No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. 11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. 12 They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread upon the lion and cobra, The young lion and the serpent you will trample down. 14 “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. 15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. 16 “With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation.†:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Desert Rat
Bethany, my dad's favorite verse and the one we printed in his memorial bulletin, etc. is Isaiah 40:28-31 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on the winds like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. My dad collect eagles most of his adult life because of this passage. I think it had such special meaning for him because of his lung problems and polio growing up. He couldn't run. The last few months he couldn't walk. Now he is running and breathing and soaring free. What a wonderful idea for your dad! Hang in there! You are in my thoughts and prayers.
