  1. *sigh* I am so sorry, Tracy! I was reading your thread and I was going to write to you and say to not count on it being very long. My grandmother was in a similar situation and she died just three weeks after she was diagnosed. I was be praying for your family! Don't worry about school or anything else. Do what feels right for you are your kids. Take the time that you need.
  2. I love my Rachel Ray hard anodized cookwware. I bought one skillet several years ago and love it and it has held up beautifully. I've used it more than any other cookware and it hasn't worn. This summer I decided to buy the whole set when it went on sale.
  3. Well, you know the key to that is not that Job had more children. He could have had more children if his others has not died. Children are supposed to be a blessing. I believe the real key there is that God doubled everything Job lost, but he didn't double his children. Why? Because he really didn't lose his children. They were in heaven and would be reunited with him one day. I like this verse when I am struggling to understanding why certain things happen. Maybe not things that God causes, but then again he has to allow them. He is God he could stop that tornado even if he didn't cause it to hit that house. Isaiah 55:8-9 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,†declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Who am I to decide God's ways are not ok. It does not mean I understand them all. Of course not, but I'm not sure we are supposed to. I definitely also like the Roman scripture that says all things work together for good to those that love Him. I'm paraprashing that one. I was immediately thinking about that when I read your post, then I saw some other posters mention it. I think we have to remember that things working out for good is not meaning having a pain free life. Once sin entered the world, then that wasn't an option. Working out for the good is having things produce growth in our lives. Those troubles refine us and shape us to be more Christ like. When you are in the midst of trouble it is hard to see the long term benefit that God sees. He sees the finished project when he is modeling and shaping us. I also think that some times we look at things in too much of an earthly perspective instead of an eternal one. Death is painful. Grief is not fun, but everyone dies and I don't think anyone in heaven would wish to come back to earth after experiencing it. Proverbs 3:12 says that the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. As a parent, I know that often times I discipline my kids because I know they have a lesson to learn. It is for their benefit and long term growth and maturity. Often times I hate it, but I know it is required. The health and wealth thing is disturbing to me. That doesn't mean that God can't give you earthly blessings, but if everything is perfect, then it is hard to rely on God. Often we rely on self and our possessions instead of God. I believe that is why the Bible says that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. I go back to Proverbs and see that if I'm not getting disciplined, then maybe I better be wondering why? I know I made this post too long. I didn't mean to be so long winded and probably a bit disjointed as I haven't slept. I was in bed and not sleeping, so of course I was scanning the boards. Usually, I would have went on, but I felt compelled to respond.
  4. My dd had cradle cap when she a baby and the doctor recommended Neutrogena T/Gel. It worked great. My dh now uses it for the same reason. You can purchase it on Amazon for a decent price. You don't have to use much. It lasts a really long time. Plus, it's not something that you'd have to use everyday after it has cleared up. My dh just uses it occasionally for maintenance. My mom also used it for psoriasis. We've had a $5 4oz bottle for way over six months. I think it is almost gone now.
  5. First of all :grouphug: I have a 12 dd that doesn't stutter, but does have a hard time spitting things out or finding the right words. It has nothing to do with her intelligence. If someone said something to her like your "friend" said to you, then oh boy she better watch out. I'm not sure why she thinks she needs to be correcting your speech. She sounds highly offensive and rude. She don't even realize how uncomfortable that it would make you to say such things in front of her husband let alone at all. You can forgive things if this seems like an out of character issue. However, if this is a pattern, then I'd be wondering how great a friend I really had. I'd still forgive her, but I'd move on. If friends treat you like that, then what do enemies do?
  6. My dh hates it when I stay in the car alone. Ok, not in the small town we live in, but when we are out shopping. Some times he wants to run in somewhere and I just don't want to go. Our first little tiff was when I was very pregnant with dd which was my first and he wanted to run into the mall to preorder some game. I told him I would just wait for him in the car. I figured it couldn't be more than 10 minutes. I was tired and didn't have any desire to look in EB Games or whatever it was then. He insisted I come in. I insisted I stay in the car. I got pretty ticked and I kicked the glove box pretty hard. lol You just don't mess with a woman and her hormones. He likes to remind me of that incident every once and a while. :tongue_smilie: The answer to your question. It just depends! I'd say if it was in a large place, then maybe a 15/16. It depends on the area and the time of day. Where I live now, I would let my 12 year old, but definitely not my 8 and we live in a very small place.
  7. I'm not sure I have laughed that hard in a long time. You actually made me laugh twice since you updated with the looking up and down part. I thought this post was going to be about eating too many free samples. :D Hey, if you ever need some help at Costco, I bet you can find a guy that will give you good service.
  8. How did this work when they had other children? I'm curious to where that belief comes from. I've never read anything that suggested that. Do you know what text that your church has used to form that opinion from. Not trying to be argumentative, just curious.
  9. I'm not sure how old you are, CyndiGirl, and that may be the difference, but to me that seems abnormal.
  10. Yes, they take food stamps. I saw that in their pamphlet. They take a variety of payments including some kind of Schwan's card that doesn't take your money out of your checking account for 14 days after delivery I believe. I'm not sure what all that entails. I'll probably just keep writing a regular check.
  11. It is so funny that I see this thread here and I got my first order in years on Thursday night. We used to get Schwan delivery quite often when I was a kid and when I was first married, but the Schwan man stopped coming by. I was thinking about my all time favorite ice cream, Rocky Road, and decided to look them up online and I placed an order. My order was just over $100. :001_huh: I did get $10 off of that though. I tried some new stuff, so I'll have to let you know what I think. My family already has a list for next time. Of course, I did get some Rocky Road, which was heavenly and some malt chocolate pushups. They've had both of those forever. I believe someone mentioned the pushups, they are good. My kids really liked them. I just wish the Rocky Road still came in the bigger size. I guess I'll have to hide it from dh. :D
  12. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
  13. :grouphug: I know what you mean! I have a 12 dd that on occassion gets a little weepy over this issue. I don't know what to do, but pray about it. So, that's what I've been doing. It is funny this came up and the birthday thread because these things have been on my mind. Tonight I was reading Proverbs 18 with my daughter and there is a verse that says it is better to have one true friend than many companions. She said when you don't have a true friend, then Jesus is the only true one you need. I needed to hear that! :001_smile:
