Unicorn.
So I finally ordered a Kitchenaid mixer and the UPS guy just delivered it. I opened the box and it is used. I had a feeling as soon as I started opening it something was off. No plastic wrap, fingerprints all over it, styrofoam was falling apart, and then I noticed that the bowl wasn't even clean. There's something like batter or something still on the bowl. I bought this because dd is gluten free (wheat intolerance/allergy not celiac) and we want to bake our own bread etc. more often. Would you call amazon and return it, or just clean it? It's kind of creeping me out that it is used. Not to mention spending $300 for something used is kind of ticking me off! Dh says send it back. What say the hive?
elegantlion
Absolutely send it back. If you paid for new it should be NEW!

Mynyel
Definitely send it back. :iagree::iagree: Most certainly. They will pay for shipping too!
JudoMom
I would send it back. Amazon is so easy to deal with--they'll probably send you a new one right away. No way would I accept a used mixer!
Lara in Colo
Absolutely send it back. If you paid for new it should be NEW! I agree to the new should be new quote. The ick factor doesn't really bother me, but not knowing HOW much use it has, does. Add into the factor that you wanted it to be gluten free---I say return it. What say the hive? The first microscope we ordered had a couple of pieces missing. I called, they sent a shipping label and a new microscope that day. They had UPS pick up the microscope. It was super easy. :)

Annie G
Definitely send it back! You really don't know how USED it is. Sorry- I bet opening the box quickly deflated the joy.

MeaganS
I would send it back in a heartbeat if I was sure that I had paid for a new machine, especially something as expensive as that one. Amazon is usually pretty hastle-free about that sort of things too, so yes, definitely!
Denisemomof4
Absolutely send it back. If you paid for new it should be NEW! :iagree::iagree::iagree:100%. I wouldn't even THINK of keeping it!!!
stripe
So I finally ordered a Kitchenaid mixer and the UPS guy just delivered it. I opened the box and it is used. I had something similar happen (dirty + scratched) and Amazon took it back, gave me my refund, etc, without any problem. Send it back. Your warranty isn't for a used item. Neither is your bill! Scuff
Yup. It's one thing to pay half price for a used mixer, clean it up, and be happy. It's quite another to pay for a new mixer and have to do all that!
Unicorn.
It is boxed up and ready to go back. :( I just have to give them a call. And yes, considering the price, and the fact that nowhere did it say used... I just hope they don't screw up again, and send me a new one of a different color! Just Ugh! I had some chocolate, so I'm feeling a little better. Thank you for the replies, and the commiseration.
Barb_
:iagree: with the others. Call Amazon now and they will have a new one to you TOMORROW. They are awesome to deal with.
plansrme
I recently received a KA Artisan from Amazon, and I believe it, too, had been used. The enamel on the dough hook was chipped when I took it out of the package. I immediately called KA to send a replacement, and while I was on the phone with the guy, realized that the other two white enameled pieces had wear marks where they would touch the bowl. I asked if they are ever tested before they're sent out, and he said no. I did not return my mixer, because if it had been used, it had been without any ingredients in the bowl. I did look over it very carefully to be sure it was otherwise acceptable. I also didn't fuss about mine because I got such a deal on it because it was white, but there is no way I would have kept it if there had been any indication of someone else's leftover ingredients on it. That's disgusting. Terri
