AnnaM
I always have but my DH does not. I have always thought it a bit strange that he wont as it's the best part IMO. No real point to the question just curious.
Mrs Mungo
Yes. I use don't even peel red potatoes or yukons when I make mashed potatoes.
Denisemomof4
organic - *always* yes. Non - organic - too often. it's the healthiest part of the potato.
OrganicAnn
I will if it is our homegrown potatoes. Potatoes are on the top 10 list of veggies that are sprayed/used chemicals on the most. So I won't eat the skins on ordinary potatoes from the store.
MamaT
Yes, my dh and I do, but my kids preferred theirs peeled.

justamouse
Yep, it's the best part. OK, question to those who peel if not organic-the potatoes are grown in the ground-the tops are sprayed? So it's a systemic pesticide, no? Peeling won't take anything off, then?
Spy Car
Yep, it's the best part. :iagree: Bill
Cosmos
Baked russets, yes. Mashed russets, no. Mashed yukon golds or reds, yes. Roasted anything, yes. Soups and stews, it depends.

Lovin Learnin
Red potatoes, always. Sometimes for other varieties but often I give them to the puppy. He loves me.
LibraryLover
Yes. I use don't even peel red potatoes or yukons when I make mashed potatoes. I peel them, but my kids don't. Two of mine make a snack of mashed potatoes with skin about once a week. I have to stay away. It's so yummy and good and carby. Marylou
I used to until I discovered my body can't handle solanine. I miss potatoes, and tomatoes and peppers, but I digress. Beware of the green parts of spuds. One time my dd vomited (8 hours after eating them) b/c her stomach couldn't handle the solanine.
silliness7
Absolutely. It is the best part. I do scrub them extra good though. I don't want to chance any grit. :tongue_smilie:
ThreeBlessings
When I used to be able to eat potatoes I'd leave skins on all but mashed and in soup potatoes. Yum, yum baked potato skin and home made fries with skin.

It should be noted that in many areas, potato crops are sprayed with chemicals to protect them from pests and disease. These pesticides can become concentrated in the potato skins. Any consumers who are concerned about the possibility of ingesting pesticides may want to purchase organically grown potatoes.
gardenmom5
I like mashed potatoes with no skin. I usually peel potatoes before throwing them in chowder. I like the baked potatoe skin seperate, filled with butter and salt. (and lots more stuff on the potatoe itself.)
Annie Laurie
Yes. I use don't even peel red potatoes or yukons when I make mashed potatoes. Ditto. Exactly. I also only eat organic potatoes since they're on the dirty dozen.
m0mmaBuck
I peel them. All of them. The peel and anything green and I core out the eyes. I HATE it when I go to a restaurant and they leave the peels on my French fries. Blech.
SonshineLearner
On organic ones I do :) Root veggies are important to purchase organic, and if they aren't, then for sure to not eat the skin. It's the VERY best part :) I like mine in my black skillet with butter, baked in the oven till they get all crispy :)

angela in ohio
Yep. We call them smashed potatoes instead of mashed potatoes. :D We don't eat a lot of potatoes, but when we do we usually have smaller red or yellow local potatoes, and I just quarter them and roast them in olive oil. NanceXToo
Baked, yes, mashed, no. (By the way, when my husband and I first got together and he first saw me eating the skin on a baked potato, he told me I was the first girl he'd ever met who did that lol).
