What does your 7th grade curriculum look like?

My 7th grader is using:

 

Math: Understanding Maths Year 7

LA: LLATL, Abeka Grammar and Composition 1, Vocab from Robinson Curriculum, Compositions 2x wk, Sometimes compositions from SL Core 7

History/Geography: Sonlight Core 7, keeps a history notebook with write-ups from each history reading.

Science: Apologia General Science

Literature: Sonlight Core 7 plus some of own choice.

Art: Artistic Pursuits

Music: Piano and Violin and music theory

Here is ours but we are still tweaking. My kids take outside classes one-day-a-week.

 

Math- Pre-Algebra with "cheaper version" of ChalkDust and Dana Mosely dvd

 

LA- Grammar- Analytical Grammar and Daily Grams

Spelling and Vocab- Spelling Workout and Vocab from Classical roots

Literature- Outside Class and Figuratively Speaking

 

Science- Abeka Science and Abeka Health at outside class

 

History- Hakim's History of Us with Hewitt guide and historical fiction from SL

President Study- one each week

Geography with Settera on computer

 

Latin- Getting Started with Latin ...then Latin Alive (I think?)

 

Spanish- Outside class and supplementing with

SOS Secondary spanish and joining younger sibling w/ LaClase Divertida 2 dvd's

 

Writing- Outside class and at home using

Put that in Writing and IEW

 

Logic- finish Orbiting with Logic ...then Fallacy Detective(I think?)

 

Music- Piano lessons with daily practice 30-40 minutes/daily

 

PE- Competetive gymnastics 4 hrs/day

History - History of US

Spelling - Spelling Workout

Grammar - Grammar for Middle School

Science - Prentice Hall chemistry textbooks with several different kits

Writing - Write With the Best

Spanish - Paso a Paso

Latin - Great Latin Adventures

Logic - Fallacy Detective

Music - violin lessons and orchestra

P.E. - soccer, swimming

Art - sadly neglected, but Draw Squad when we can fit it in

Math: Singapore Math 6B/NEM Chapters 1-4 (Pre-Algebra)

Grammar: Analytical Grammar

Writing/Composition: Paragraph Writing Made Easy/ back to IEW

Spelling: Megawords

History: HO Modern History/TRISMs History Makers

Science: Prentice-Hall Science Explorers Series

Logic: Logic section from MEP 7 and then onto ?? Can I count his "Scratch" programming?

Music: ;-( radio?

Art: Draw Squad when we can fit it in.

PE: Karate and Wii Fit

I will add Logic in after Christmas, but I'm not sure what I'm going to use yet.

Math: Basic College Math (Lial's)

English: R&S 7

Reading/Lit: an old school text I picked up for $2/plus whatever perks his interest

Science: year two of Rainbow

History: Abeka

Spanish: SOS Intermediate

Handwriting: Italic

Spelling: working through the word list in Writing Road to Reading

 

 

Boy, that looks like a lot more than it is!:lol:

Here is what my seventh grader takes:

 

Dolciani Algebra I

BJU Life Science

Wheelock's Latin (through Lukeion, an online school)

K12 World History B (early Renaissance through 1914)

K12 Art History B

Literature and writing through an outsourced teacher

Rod & Staff English 7

Piano practice 45 minutes/day

 

She does 8 hours of ballet/week and takes piano, cooking, sewing, and Bright Lights (a girls' discipleship group).

Grammar: Harvey's

Latin: Latin for the New Millennium (will start in November)

History: The Teaching Co.'s Early American History

Science: Exploring Creation With Physical Science

Memory: Scripture and IEW's Poetry (Level 4)

Literature: WTM lists

Music: Piano

PE: fencing

Writing- IEW

Spelling- Megawords

History- SOTW IV

Science- Chemistry from Usborne Science

Vocabulary- English from the Roots Up

Typing- Typing Instructor Deluxe

Reading- Historical fiction to accompany SOTW

My 7th grader is slightly accelerated, but here's her list. I'm still considering a switch for writing.

 

Saxon Algebra I

Rod and Staff English 8

Tapestry of Grace, Year 1 (history, literature, geography, writing, fine arts)

Prentice Hall Science Explorer (3 books/year)

Fallacy Detective (just finishing up)

Building Spelling Skills 8

Rosetta Stone - Spanish

World geography/cultures: Around the World in 180 Days

Literature: Lightning Literature 7, plus some literature to go along with geog.

Math: Professor B (ds is below grade level in math)

Science: Apologia General Science at co-op

Writing: IEW

Grammar: Winston Grammar

Spelling: Spelling Workout

Logic: Mind Benders, Logic Links, etc.

Music: private guitar lessons, theory workbook

Art: Geography Through Art and Artistic Pursuits

Bible: Explorer's Bible Study Luke and Acts

Drama with a Christian drama group

 

I plan to add Latin after Christmas.

DS is 13 and being hs for the first time. He is a struggling reader and needs to brush up on math basics...

 

Math: Math Mammoth (for a few months; then we'll transition into LOF, probably supplementing with Lial's or Singapore or MEP).

Writing: IEW

Spelling: Spelling Through Morphographs and Spelling Wisdom

Reading: REWARDS, Reading Assistant, various literature and study guides

Science: Supercharged Science, CPO

History: Teaching Company, Glencoe's Journey Across Time, SOTW

Logic: Building Thinking Skills, Logic Liftoff

Art and Music - pottery classes and drum lessons

Phys Ed: travel baseball year round, basketball

Math: NEM 1 ch1-5 then Foerster's (maybe or stick w/NEM?)

LA: CLE 7, R&S 7 for comp, vfcr A

Lit: Ancients from TWTM lists + some historical fiction

Logic: Traditional Logic 1, Introductory Logic

Science: Apologia Biology but will probably ditch it soon for a more relaxed approach

Latin: Wheelock's ch 1-as close to 20 as we can get. Goal is to take Nat'l Latin Exam 1 in March.

History: TWTM ancients

PE: soccer

Art: Artistic Pursuits, dd is really enjoying this

Looks like a lot, and it is. We'll drop something if we need to.

Language Arts: Rod & Staff English 5 (we just switched over and I wanted an easy transition), Calvert Spelling & Vocabulary CD-rom, Pentime Penmanship 7

 

Literature, History, Writing, Geography: History Odyssey Early Modern Level 2

 

Science: Apologia General Science

 

Extras: Short story writing course w/ Dh, karate, swimming, piano
