  1. She is precious! Thank you for sharing.
  2. My dd was 14 when she started seeing a counselor/therapist. It may vary by state, but she had to give permission for her therapist to tell me anything. The therapist would give me a vague idea of what they had talked about and encouraged my dd to share. My dd would almost never share. There were a couple of times that the therapist would meet with just me and tell me some things that she was hearing and her suggestions for helping my dd. It took about10 months, but we are on the upswing for sure. It will most likely take more time than you would like.
  3. All of my boys are on swim team. I know you said that is no one's first choice, but it is flexible (in our town) as far as the days. Mine have practice offered 6 days a week. We pick the 3-4 that work for us. The meets are often Fri-Sun, but we have the option to only swim Saturday or only swim Sunday.
  4. I am ready for cooler weather. It is only 88 today. My kids want to go to the pumpkin patch, but I refuse to go until it cools off. The pumpkins will just rot in this heat. The weather channel says that it will cool off later this week. I really hope it is right!
  5. After 16 months without a dishwasher, we decided to buy a new one. Because of the style of our kitchen, we decided to buy a white dishwasher. I was surprised to learn that it had to be special ordered and cost $20 more. We ordered it Labor Day weekend and are hoping it will be delivered this weekend.
  6. It is very common where I am. Most people will stop and wait for the procession to pass even if they are on the opposite side of the road and could keep moving. I was surprised to find out that wasn't common everywhere.
  7. This is the doll house that my daughter had. I have so many good memories of it.
  8. We paid one cost for our dd (just under $6K) that included everything including first set of retainers. We were able to set up a payment plan. My middle ds will probably have braces before this calendar year is over. We had hoped to have enough saved in our HSA to pay for his, but we had other medical expenses come up. So his will be a payment plan too.
  9. My daughter recently went to a music camp on a college campus with what I would consider apartment style dorms. There were 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchenette/sitting area. I was surprised that there was not a garbage can anywhere. My dd ended up tying a garbage bag to a drawer under the sink. All that to say, she may need a garbage can.
  10. This made me laugh because I am the exact opposite. I would much rather deal with 100 degree plus temperatures than the cold. I don't like to leave the house if it gets down to +35. I cannot imagine living with winters as cold as yours. I am a cold weather wimp. We do have central heat and air in our house.
  11. I have a son that really likes IQ-Fit, IQ-Twist, and the other games in that series.
  12. I think it can vary widely. My ds had his out last summer. He was almost 16 at the time. He had very little pain and almost no swelling, but I don't think he had that much energy three days later. His main exercise is swimming, but his surgeon wouldn't let him back in the water for two weeks. He was ok to walk and ride bikes after about a week. He was able to go back to playing violin after about 10 days. The pressure of the instrument on his cheek was a little painful. He did have all four removed at the same time, and they were impacted.
  13. We definitely had more time together when our kids were little. Now at least two of them stay up later than I do. If I want alone time with my husband, we have to kick them upstairs to their rooms. Our only TV is downstairs, so everyone wants to be down here.
  14. Our insurance will only pay for flu shots if we go to the doctor. None of us can go to the pharmacy.
  15. She is absolutely beautiful! Congratulations!
  16. I love these dresses, but I am thinking she will need something longer. If she stands to play, the dress will come up some when she raises her arms. If she has to sit to play, she will want a longer dress. This is just something my daughter has thought of with orchestra clothes.
  17. I have all four of my kids' teeth in envelopes in a drawer. Unfortunately not all of the envelopes are labeled. I am not sure if I could group them into complete sets. I am not sure why I can't get rid of them.
  18. That picture is precious!
  19. I am so sorry for your loss.
