  1. We are using CLE for 4th and we both really like it. I need to add is something for more writing, but other then that it’s great.
  2. Are you using a prescription flea treatment? We had a massive flea infestation this summer with our cats. The only thing that took care of it was prescription meds. Nothing that I could buy OTC worked- no medicine, powder, spray etc.... When I finally paid for a prescription only medicine it took care of it.
  3. Not all packs are like that. Ours leans more toward the middle, however I am the Weblos 1 den leader this year and I expect my cubs scouts to do the work. That said, how old is your son? Our boys are tired of cubs and are going to do Weblos 1 and 2 in one year and bridge to Boy Scouts. They will be old enough, and are ready for more serious scouting.
  4. My 9 year old absolutely loves Kiwi crate. We did Tinker crate for a little while, but they were more difficult, and he had trouble doing them by himself.
  5. We homeschooled with a private school for 8 years. I’m on year 7 with a charter and that’s been good too. CA is easy to homeschool in. Welcome!
  6. My DH and DS didna Colorado river canoeing trip a few years ago with scouts and they had the best time!
  7. Not a fan. We used it for 3 weeks. It was choppy and moved too slow for my liking. I moved him to CLE 4, and we are both happier, lol.
  8. My 4th grader was having the same trouble. We switched to handwriting without tears and he pretty much instantly understood it and is now able to write in cursive.
  9. Tell him. I like to email, it feels a bit more like a supriseâ€ish†that way, lol.
  10. My older kids did it ages ago with a class. I found the guide book in the garage (LOL!) and want to implement it this year. I'm not loving SOTW 4, so we are going to switch topics to California history. Does anyone know of any good note booking pages (free or not), that go with this study guide? I"ve looked all over and can't seem to find any.
  11. I have a few friends who used it, but they are all dropping it, saying it’s way too easy and drags on. I switched from CLE to Math Mammoth this year and it’s been a fantastic switch. There is less busy work and much more thinking required. It’s been great.
  12. My daughter gets paid $10 an hour. Last weekend she watched 3 kids and they paid her $12 an hour.
  13. The first 3 levels have a video review that is excellent.
  14. My childhood friend and homeschooling buddy wrote some great field trip journals this summer. They are fantastic and have been really well received by the local homeschooling community. Cathy Duffy posted a review about them!! We have been using them, and they are fantastic. Just wanted to share, in case anyone is in the market for field trip journals... You can buy them on her website, or on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Laena-West/e/B074JMNM7B/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1 http://cathyduffyreviews.com/homeschool-reviews-core-curricula/science/general-science-resources/field-trip-journals "Field trips are a great idea, but sometimes we have trouble making sure our children actually learn something. Laena West’s Field Trip Journals help to solve that problem...."
  15. I have 2 boys in college. One lives at home, one does not. We do not give either of them spending money. The both have jobs and work 20ish hours a week to pay for their own expenses. When I went to parent orientation with my oldest, they actually suggested that all of the students have a job. They said it was good for them, and statistically, kids who work part time jobs have better grades. I thought that was interesting.
  16. If your girls like workbooks style, Christian Light’s Language arts is really well done. It’s solid, and thorough. I’m just adding a bit more writing to it. It’s spelling, cursive, grammar and writing all in one.
  17. I did castor oil. It’s awful. I never ever took it again, with any other baby. Don’t do it.
  18. It worked very well for my auditory learner, who was a horrible speller. We had used several workbook based programs, and they all were a flop. PZ gave her independence and took the stress away from me.
  19. So for thw Genes for good study, if you do their Facebook app thing, you can get your saliva analysed for free? Have you done it?
  20. YES!!! It's not so much about the project as it the amount of effort, planning etc.. that it takes to get to the actual project. My son's Eagle project took a ridiculous amount of hours to plan, compared to the amount of work it took to actually execute the plan. The leadership skills he gained were invaluable.
  21. I have a non mathy kiddo. She's taking a Geometry class, but there's not enough homework for her to keep up her skills IMO. I was thinking about adding in The Key to Geometry series to her workload. But when I looked at the sample pages, it was a lot of drawing lines, circles etc... Has anyone used it? Does it get harder?
