  1. I think there a plenty of rigorous choices. However, I'm a believer in the best curriculum is the one that gets used day after day. Use what you've got, it's the work that works!
  2. Super easy Pie crust top and bottom (use store bought or home-made) shredded chicken about a handful (left overs work great, canned in a pinch. like when you live overseas and fresh chicken isn't an option) creamy white sauce Easy to make with butter or olive oil and flour. I saute onions in the oil a little and then make the roue, next add milk about a 1-2 cups or heavy cream You can use a can of cream of whatever Season white sauce with any seasonings you like salt & pepper, garlic etc. frozen or fresh veggies, can work in a pinch I usually do potatoes, carrots, peas, celery, corn etc. 1 can cream of corn Put bottom pie crust into pie plate, dump in the ingredients and top with the crust. Bake until it bubbles a bit
  3. Do notify the hotel, but it should be fine. I've used general delivery to the local post office when we travelled with no problems.
  4. :w00t: Oh, my gosh... Your disaster makes me remember mine. Our neighbor tried to wash her dog-pee, huge-comforter in our washer. My dh...very gallantly threw the wet comforter in our backyard, while cursing a blue streak... Vinegar, I agree. Use vinegar to clean the dryer.
  5. :grouphug: How terrifying, I'm so glad no one was hurt.
  6. Class video times vary by subject and grade level. Some high school courses are 45 minutes with daily reading and assignments following. The web site lists the number of assignments and class video times.
  7. :iagree: Happy day = you're so smart you get to jump a grade...Sad day = you need to repeat grade ___.
  8. :iagree::iagree::iagree: Although, I would speak with her parents, because I'd want to know as a parent.
  9. :grouphug:You know we love you Sue, and given your set of circumstances...Yes, I'd send him..:grouphug:
  10. My limited experience has shown that succeeding in homeschooling happens when the mom or teaching parent seeks the how. Many moms need a sympathetic ear, but aren't really interested. ymmv
  11. Try a vibration alarm clock. I think someone recommended a shake awake one, originally intended for hearing impairment.
  12. :grouphug:Your poor girls and Sam...It's heartbreaking, I hope the dog owners pay financially and emotionally. I hope you are able to follow the case though. We had a local case where a dog mauled an adorable little mutt to death in it's own yard. The owners fought to keep their vicious dog and sued the little dog owners for not properly keeping their pet on a leash. Your kitty was a hero, and probably saved a human from that mauling. Poor, poor kitty.
  13. :grouphug: I missed the thread yesterday, but wanted to send some cyber hugs and prayers your way.
  14. I continue to homeschool... because it gives my in-laws indigestion;). My other reasons are a profound love of slippers, a general dislike of going out in inclement weather, and my strong attachment to books. And of course keeping my kids as unsocialized as possible.
  15. :grouphug: Babies...How sweet. I hope everyone is better soon.
