  1. re: medication for those interested. I started Wegovy a few months ago. It is the same as Ozempic, just different dosages. I was fortunate that my insurance covered it as many do not. I have lost 25 pounds in three months. It slows your food through your stomach so your appetite is just much less. I switched insurance July 1 and lost coverage. Enter Mounjaro. Mounjaro is similar but targets an additional area and is showing greater weight loss than even Wegovy. The other great thing about Mounjaro is that if you have private insurance and they DENY Mounjaro, they currently have a savings card which makes it only $25 a month. Cash pay, these medications are typically around $1300 a month. This does not work if you have Medicare/Medicaid, federal or state insurance. Private insurance only. It is a once a week injection that is very easy to do and really doesn't hurt.
  2. Just curious how you think this should be handled by my daughter's college. She is working on a resolution but I want to make sure I am advising her the best possible. She moved into her dorm suite on Saturday. There are 4 individual rooms with their own bath and a common living/kitchenette. 2 of the rooms are singles, 2 doubles. My daughter has a service dog. The college has been very easy to work with regarding her dog so that has been nice. The issue is when they were all moving in Saturday, one of the girls in the suite does not like dogs at all, in fact has a fear of dogs. We were surprised that the college did not somehow let these girls know ahead of time there would be a dog in there. For those that aren't aware, service dogs are not working 24/7. They may work at home but they still have much down/play time and really should be able to relax in their own home. And of course, this young lady also deserves to have a college experience not always on edge wondering if she is going to run into a dog every time she opens her bedroom door.
  3. hairspray. has worked many times for me.
  4. audiologist in my prior life. You have received some great advice. 30% hearing really isn't a helpful description. If you can obtain a copy of her actual hearing test I can give you a better idea if hearing aids would likely be encouraged.
  5. I think we may have children adopted from the same country. Before the process changed and they were automatically sent the COC, we were told you could apply for the passport but then after you would have to go to the SS office and let them know you had the passport for proof of citizenship so that it could be changed in the SS computer. We had one done this way (in 98) and then the next was in 05 so she was automatically sent the COC. Both of them have now gone through the FAFSA process and neither was flagged so it must be correct in the SS system. But no, in a nutshell, one part of the government does not talk to the other hand. Even all these years later, I still plan on obtaining a COC for the first but I keep putting it off. Just want her to have any proof possible to prove she is a citizen.
  6. I may not be fully understanding but I don't believe this is how mine works. I added it to my existing toilet a few months ago. There is no hot water to the little room my toilet is in (water closet). The bidet is plugged in and then it is hooked up through the same water pipes as the toilet. I installed it myself. Mine has heated water, a heated seat and a dryer function. From amazon: TOTO SW3074#01 WASHLET C2 Electronic Bidet Toilet Seat with PREMIST and EWATER+ Wand Cleaning, Elongated, Cotton White I LOVE mine.
  7. Just because something is legal at the state or federal level does not mean it is 'ok' for employment, sports and more. My husband would lose his job, our livelihood, and my child would lose their ability to compete. So, so, SO wrong!
  8. Severe chronic migraines for around 40 years. I had my first and only MRI about 10 years ago when my neurologist (3rd I have seen) encouraged it. I left a PCP once when he refused to order breast MRIs for me even though they were recommended due to several reasons. His reason, did not want me to be exposed to unnecessary radiation. I never did figure out if he was that ignorant or if he thought I was. Either way, that was the last time I saw him. As others have stated, MRIs do not expose you to radiation.
  9. Second Zenni. You can pick up a very reasonably priced pair of prescription sunglasses through them. Just look for their cheaper frames and don't do any fancy upgrades you don't need.
  10. What about his breeder? Have you talked to them? Any good breeder should have it in their contract that he goes back to them first if there are any issues and you can not keep him. I'm sure they have many great contacts and can find an experienced GSD home for him.
  11. I don't think I can add much more but, can I buy your daughter an ice cream? I am so proud of her for sticking up for her brother. As a mama to 2 with disabilities, one which has a physical disability, I have zero tolerance for bullies that pick on kids because they aren't 'perfect'.
  12. I just wanted to post that it isn't all doom and gloom. We shopped for a Toyota in January, put a deposit down and it arrived 3 weeks later. Yes, we were limited to just a few per model but it still worked out. The dealership we went through was more than happy to work with us, required just a small deposit, $250, and if we decided we did not want it after it arrived it was refundable as they knew they could sell the vehicle quickly. We also did not pay above MSRP.
  13. No. Many top swimmers wear old-school Speedos. Generally for top meets they will wear a tech suit jammer, but I have seen more than my share of teen young men walking around in Speedos at practice and meets.
  14. I regularly have Giordano's pizza shipped to me! Love love love!!!
  15. Following. Have been trialing a few different contacts over the last couple of months, multifocal with astigmatism, and so far it hasn't worked out. I feel I could be doing better but I'm dismayed by the lack of help after my first appointment and paying good $$$. Debating trying another office. Other than a quick look at my phone, my dashboard, I am no where close enough to be comfortable reading anything over a couple of minutes.
  16. Sending you a message. Several times have paid CHOA payments over a year. They weren't interested in negotiating. And yes, we were also told there was a fund available to tap into when we decided to move her care to CHOA. It mysteriously disappeared when our insurance changed and our OOP would be in the tens of thousands per year.
  17. Splash1, I'm not sure when they were tested but I was initially tested 10+ years ago and my BRCA1 and BRCA2 was negative. I have a very strong family history. Fast forward 5 years ago and they are now able to test for many, many more genes that cause breast cancer. I came back positive for a different breast cancer gene. I'm letting you know this to encourage you to have the full Myriad panel if they were only tested for BRCA.
  18. Our vet school also has a certain number of seats that are designated for a bordering state. I was always told it was due to the fact that SC does not have a vet school. Quick googled yielded: Because South Carolina has no veterinary schools, SC residents must complete their veterinary medicine education out-of-state. For tuition purposes, however, SC students may be considered in-state residents at the University of Georgia, Tuskegee University (Alabama), and Mississippi State University. and As South Carolina has no in-state veterinary program, “South Carolina quotas” are available at the University of Georgia (largest number of contract spots) and Tuskegee University. Applicants to the University of Georgia program must take the GRE, including the Advanced Biology section.
  19. We have this bowl and it has made a big difference. Our lab holds a lot of water in his mouth and then walks away dribbling. This has greatly reduced the amount of water on the floor.
  20. 13 for a large dog is much older than 13 in a small dog. Do you cut his water off at night? My dogs have a 6 pm cutoff.
  21. I've only had 2 and they were both to be able to attend/volunteer at international sports meets.
  22. My son's was done by his ENT before braces.
  23. The ENTs I worked for did in office tubes on a very regular basis. As long as the eardrum is numbed well it really is a simple procedure. Depending on the patient they routinely performed them in office from around 6 years and up. The only requirement is that the patient WILL hold still. My own son was 2 when they did one of his in office, much younger than most patients but since he knew the doctor and was very comfortable there they knew him well enough to know he would lay still. He was a trooper and we all laughed when he starting saying "YUCK, YUCK!". He was watching the procedure on the monitor and did not like watching them suck the pus out.
  24. I know a guy that put his tracker on his dog each day to get his required steps for his insurance discount. I don't really agree with it but it was funny. 🤣
  25. I'm so sorry. I am also someone that knows and understands the medical system, previously worked in the system, and on and on. And it sucks and I have been caught for weeks and months trying to access care for myself and my family. I also come back to, if I have this much difficulty, how does the average, or worse yet, the below average patient or parent ever access much needed care????
