  1. Wow! I am really shocked. My vet, who I would say we wouldn't call quite a friend but more then an acquaintance, absolutely loves our lab and wasn't thrilled when I told him we were getting a GSD but has never been that vocal or rude about him. He has asked me more then once why I didn't get another dog from our lab breeder, but he just really, really loves our lab 🙂 Sorry you don't have another good vet option nearby.
  2. I have purchased several of the YnM brand ones from Amazon.
  3. My husband and I lived apart for around 5 years, not due to marital issues. I lived with youngest who took 500% of our energy. He lived with our middle who had been functioning as an adult since childhood. Our adult child lived near hubby. It was very tough for me, even though this was something we both agreed on, he provided our financial support and we were generally together around every other weekend. I didn't know what else to call it other than I was her single parent the majority time. I never called myself a single parent other then to my friends that were true single parents and it was basically a conversation of how I didn't know how they did it because I was only a single parent logistically speaking. I had my husband emotionally and financially, and physically on a regular basis.
  4. My daughter's doctor ordered the GeneSight testing for her. It WAS covered by our health insurance. I don't remember if we had to obtain pre-authorization but I'm guessing we did. The main thing I remember is that it doesn't specifically say Do or do NOT take this medication but rather it says that a typical dose of XYZ medication is likely what you will need, or for ABC medication you will likely need a higher dose or for QRS medication you will likely need a lower dose. You can find a sample report on their website which is pretty easy to understand in my opinion: https://genesight.com/product/ It also includes information about whether or not the patient has a variation of MTHFR.
  5. I certainly would not be a fan of such an arrangement. Looking back, for various reasons I understand now, my parents allowed me too much freedom as a teen IMHO. I went on a couple of dates as a 15 yo with an 18 yo. Although nothing inappropriate happened at all, looking back, it was one of those situations, I wish my parents had just not allowed me to be in. My children are now all of legal age, but I hope the single ones will date close to their own age.
  6. Use AirTags. I'm very prone to lose things. I have AirTags in my wallet and other important items. Has been helpful more than once. I've found things in the craziest of places.
  7. My husband and I dated 5+ years before we were married. We set our wedding date a year in advanced and booked our honeymoon. My brother started dating a girl a few months before our wedding, proposed and set their wedding date for the weekend after ours. They were dumbfounded that we refused to come home early from our honeymoon to attend their wedding. To top it off she took my veil after we left without permission and wore it in her wedding because she liked it better then the one she purchased. Needless to say that marriage didn't last long. Edited to clarify: My brother's marriage. My husband and I are still very much married.
  8. I have the GPD Passport which is likely the same thing. I donate x amount to Georgia Public Broadcasting, our PBS station, and in turn I can log in to PBS and watch all their shows, not just the current ones. I can log in online or using an app on my Smart TV, Roku or Apple TV. I have never tried logging into PBS within the Prime app, I just always go through the individual streaming apps. All that to say, Seasons 1 and 2 are available through PBS for me, although it isn't exactly called Masterpiece. I'm fairly sure we are talking about the same thing.
  9. wait, do you have 2 or 3 puppies at once??? I have had labs and goldens all my life and have my first GSD, now 11.5 months. I can't imagine having 2 at once. He is much, MUCH more then all my labs put together. bless you LOL
  10. This is where I start. I have a picky German Shepherd after labs that eat anything and everything. After his recent surgery he was put on frequent, small meals. I started with The Honest Kitchen base mix, added chicken, egg and then I also use 2 supplements: Missing Link recommended by our service dog organization and Rogue Origins 5-in-1 recommended by his breeder. He is finally eating well.
  11. I have a few stories to tell about Jimmy Carter, but I realized some provide too much identifying information. I once slept in the same cabin as Jimmy Carter. Obviously, not at the same time. My parents had close mutual friends with the Carters. Due to this same connection, it is my understanding that Jimmy Carter is the one that helped cut through massive red tape in the 80s that allowed my mother to obtain medical THC in pill form, to help with the symptoms of chemotherapy. She was one of only ~8 patients in the country obtaining it legally at the time.
  12. 🙂 I really smiled when she showed up on my FYP since I felt like I knew her. Now I have to go hide back in the closet since I don't like to admit that I am addicted to TikTok LOL Tell her she has all of us cheering her on.
  13. Mine too! Who is her daughter again?
  14. We have dogs that ride in several of our vehicles. Labs and German Shepherds. We have seat and cargo covers, designed for pets, that we purchased on Amazon and they really do help. We also have the WeatherTech mats in the 2 main cars. Lastly, I purchased a dog dryer (Flying Pig) and it really does a great job at helping remove hair after bathing. I use it occasionally when grooming but not after a bath to also help.
  15. will send you a link to the realtor I know.
  16. Have lived there more than once but not in a few decades. Gainesville is a great town on a huge lake, Lake Lanier. I still know a couple of people there, one in realty.
  17. Also, I reread the school's policies on service dogs and accommodations. They really dropped the ball on their own guidelines as the roommates were supposed to be notified and ok'd. Also seems to be much confusion about the difference between ESAs and SDs and the rights of each.
  18. Little update. The girls met with the disability director and reported back that everything is being handled and is ok. They have not elaborated more so I will have to wait for the full report. Bonus note, my daughter had her first day of classes today. She has never been in a school classroom before. She texted that she absolutely loved it and her professor. Sure makes my heart happy.
  19. No. see my earlier post. PCP prescribed for me and telemedicine (push health) prescribed for my husband. You do not have to have T2D to use it at all.
  20. The girls (my daughter and her good friend) have a meeting with the disability director tomorrow. Today they had issues with 3 emotional support dogs. One barked uncontrollably, the second the mom said was a service dog but when my daughter asked her what tasks he does the mom quickly backtracked and said 'provided emotional support', and the third was an unleashed pit that lunged at him before the owner grabbed his collar. They have asked me to be on speaker so I will but both the girls are feisty and know the laws well. I doubt it will get to it, but we have several elevation levels if needed LOL
  21. I did have some nausea with the Wegovy, but manageable. So far I have not had any side effects on the Mounjaro with the exception of the expected decreased appetite.
  22. No problem asking my PCP. For my husband, who has zero other health issues, I actually used Push Health to obtain his and save him a visit to his doctor. It is online telehealth that will prescribe for a fee. YMMV.
  23. @arcadia You make several good points and we ALWAYS try to be respectful of others. There are many service dog users that seem to think their rights triumph everything else. We were on a ferry once when I quickly noticed a family that seemed uneasy with her previous dog. Based on their appearance and mannerisms, I felt it was likely a religious issue. We made changes to keep her dog as far away from them as possible including letting them deboard well before us so we could keep a distance. When we go to restaurants, I always ask nearby tables if they are ok with a dog next to them (although under the table). We have only had one family say no, most love knowing they are there. Allergies are another common issue. In a classroom, if a student is allergic (depending on severity), generally seating them on opposite sides of the room is enough. But, I would never ask someone with a dog allergy to live in the same suite as her dog. The RA supposedly talked to the resident director that gave the same answer and also told her that R would have to be confined to her room, with no gate in the hall. Obviously this isn't going to fly. I've asked older sister to talk to her about her next steps as older sister was a graduate resident (so over RAs) for two years. I'm glad to know it seems the consensus is this isn't going to work and needs to be elevated.
  24. I am not getting involved directly with her college. She has learned long ago how to advocate for herself. Her single room within the pod is considered a medical/disability room. Her good friend, who also happens to have a physical disability is in the other single medical room. The college even put them together as her friend has been around her dog since day one and has the ability and permission to care for her dog if she is really sick or otherwise needs help. Fortunately their rooms are at the end of the hall so they will likely even put a dog gate right before their rooms so her dog can freely go between their rooms without going into the common area when they want to keep their doors open. She talked to her RA and was told no one could request room changes for 10 days. That is 10 days too long IMHO, but I will wait to see what else is decided. I know the dog will be ok more or less confined for 10 days but I feel for the young lady.
