  1. No. We always pay and never get a tax refund. So, the IRS doesn't have our bank info. And the tool that launched today to give that info is glitching.
  2. DD is finish 1 year Physics C with Dr Kernion. It is fantastic. He is so involved and available. She has never felt like instruction has been lacking in any way. This class is for sure for someone who can self study and is willing to invest a lot of time in the class.
  3. Our HS Prom was postponed to June. DD said she did not want to go to prom after graduation. Our graduation is scheduled for May 30th as well. But, who knows if that will happen. She decided to do Early Start in July, so if restrictions are lifted, we will do a going away/grad celebration last week of June just for family at our house. So, maybe 20 people at most. Definitely a disappointing way to finish up...
  4. Yes. I've had the same starter for 5 years. I only keep 1/4 cup or so in the fridge at a time. So, it takes a few feedings before I have enough to make anything. I force it for pancakes(feed 2-3 times over 24 hours.) I have left it in the fridge for probably a month without touching it. It is always fine. It will form hooch, but I like a stronger, more sour flavor, so I just mix it in. Some like to pour it off.
  5. I store mine in the fridge. I don't feed it weekly. Maybe every 2 weeks unless i am using it. I take it out(I only keep 1/4? cup, I take the whole thing out) and put it in a bigger jar, feed it a couple times(over 24ish hours for pancakes, 3 days for bread) before using it. I never feed it more half again its size at a time. That's it.
  6. I know some levels have been revised. I use the older sets. Pre K-level 2. I love TG&TB for this age range. Yeah, it's a little frustrating the way the older version is laid out. Some lessons are super short, others are super long. I just work on it for 20 or so minutes a day. Sometimes we get through a lesson or 2, sometimes not even 1. It is SO gentle and my kids who have been SO resistant to reading programs have loved it. The stories are so sweet, short and fun. Even the word lists are made to be fun. I have DREADED teaching reading to the first three homeschoolers. The last 2 (with TG&TB) have been a breeze. I tried it for my 4th grader last year and we dropped it. I did not care for the way spelling was taught. It didn't seem to translate well when I tried to use it more independently. I sit with my littles through every lesson. And, some talk of certain books leading to bad character -well, since I'm the one reading that, I just skip it.:)
  7. We are self employed contractors(DH is a house painter). We are a sole proprietorship. He had 4 jobs put on hold because of social distancing regulations. He has enough work(in empty houses) to last 3 weeks. And then that's it. Nothing. I do know that if the president grants it, we can qualify for Disaster Unemployment Assistance(which caps at $390/week). There are lots of hoops though, like time deadlines that may not be reasonable.
  8. DD is taking it this year. She and I can not say enough great things about the class! Shin Yen has a phd in Electrical Engineering(my dd's future college major). She has been such an encouragement!
  9. I'm pretty minimalist. I use instant yeast with GREAT results. A big container for proofing? I use a huge tupperware bowl I got 25 years ago., but this one is nice, I got french bread forms for a gift and they are fun. I like to use glass pans for loaves. I make rolls the most. So large sheet pans.
  10. https://cafedelites.com/sheet-pan-garlic-herb-butter-chicken/ This has saved dinner so many times and my family LOVES it. Few pans is a huge plus too. It's budget friendly at around $10. I always have everything to make it. We are a family of 7. I use 2 sheet pans, a whole bag of frozen chicken tenders from Aldi, 3/4 bag red potatoes from Aldi, and a bag of the fine green beans(frozen) from Aldi. I wash and cut the potatoes and put on the pans, Dump the frozen chicken tenders onto the pans. I salt and pepper everything. I double the "sauce" recipe and pour it onto the pans evenly. Bake 15 minutes, Take out the pans, divide the frozen green beans on the pans, toss. Put back in for 15-20 minutes(check chicken for doneness and veggies for a bit of crispiness.) Oh, and I use dried herbs.
  11. I really thought I was crazy. LOL I also react to cardboard. It began after a big move(4 years ago), so handling lots of it. Now, whenever I carry it, I break out in a rash. I had zero allergies until then. Now, I also react to big dusting days. Like behind furniture. I try to wash my hands often and only hit it hard for a couple hours and then shower. I use an eczema cream and it keeps it manageable. Also, I have to buy Method handsoap and dish soap. Anything else irritates my hands. I use homemade bath soap and I also make homemade foaming handsaop with Castille, Aloe, and essential oils.
  12. We have used Easy Peasy PE for this purpose. My kids have some funny memories related to the activities.
  13. Walmart also has these. By the holiday candy.
  14. I have a similar yellow in our music room. I love it. I have white trim and white curtains. Looks awesome.
  15. My 6 & 8 year olds are asking for Look and Find books,Playmobil,Marvel PJs, Robot,Twistable crayons, Magic Trcks. They love unique stuffed animals. This year they are getting a sugar glider and lemur.
  16. I would let her bring her stuffing. Have chalkboard tags and chalk and label all the offerings so you don't have to keep warning people about the disgusting stuffing. 🙂 We have oyster stuffing offered too. I hate it, but it's tradition. And I love tradition!
  17. DH is an painting contractor. We do not accept CC. We would however accept Paypal for services. Also, Zelle is an option. No way would we ever ask for money before the job is done. EVER. HVAC is expensive for the unit up front. So, I understand money needed before the job starts. However, I would offer to buy the unit from the distributor (or wherever), use your CC to do that if you want, have it delivered to your house. That way it is YOURS. If the contractor skips out, then at least you do not have to recover the money you paid to him before you can hire someone else. We have done this for all contractors we have hired(roofers, landscapers, gutters, etc) We simply say, "We do not give anyone money upfront." Most understand this and do end up accommodating us. Contractors get into a dangerous cycle when they use down payment money to pay for other jobs/pay themselves. People tell us nightmare stories all the time. If your contractor refuses to let you pay directly to the distributor and have the materials delivered to you, I would walk away.
  18. Senior DD just finished all her apps. Oh.My. 10(ten?!) applications with CA, Coalition, individual. It was way too much. Caught all the deadlines for early action. Now for FAFSA. That's the only thing left for me. DS just graduated college last December. Felt much harder this time around. She did do most of the work. She has 2 projects for potential scholarships to do this month. She is excited about them though. So, there's that!HA
  19. Front teeth are tricky. The size of the implant, size of the crown require a VERY good working experience. Don't let your general do it. See a specialist. Depending on your area, this could be a periodontist or an oral surgeon.
  20. If you want to hit a bunch of stuff, Chicago has a CityPass. The Field museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium are very near each other. There is an awesome city view from the Adler property. MSI is a 15 minute drive away from Museum Campus, as is The Art Institute(traffic depending, of course.)
  21. These are all people who pled guilty? Is that right? Lori Loughlin pled NOT guilty. I wonder if that matters in sentencing?
  22. CC Physics was the best online class we have ever had. 2 years after CC Physics, DD is taking AP Physics C and loving it. Her teacher comments on her "stellar" lab reports. All thanks to CC Physics. We have used Apologia(and currently doing Biology). Physical Science was SO AWFUL here. I did not have high hopes for Physics. DD is a senior and plans on majoring in physics/electrical engineering. She was a biology girl until 10th grade.(When she fell in love with physics!)
