  1. Like a basket? Or a hamper? I have this basket and love it. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Neu-Home-Commercial-Grade-Chrome-Laundry-Cart/10024032
  2. We do this too. Kids look forward to it every year. My girls have loved these mini school supplies. Comp books with fun pictures Aaron's Thinking Putty minis Art supplies:pastels, paints, color pencil sets, kneaded erasers A new Better Binder(for daily assignments) glitter glue pencil case We use color flags for book marks.
  3. We are using Houghton Mifflin books with the corresponding worksheets this year for my 3rd grader. Harcourt makes a pretty good looking one also. I bought the HM and workbook used. Less than $10 total. And 180 days of Social Studies for my 6th grader. It covers history, economics, civics, geography. I will use it as a reinforcement/review mostly. We are not required to, but it bugs my kids that they never know those questions about communities on the standardized tests. 🙂
  4. I have been doing tons of research on this. First, I thought I would buy kits(Like MSB) I LOVE the idea of it, but it would end up being SO expensive for the small amount of supplies. I am borrowing a bunch of books from the library and going to choose my favorite and buy it. I will collect the materials and bag them myself and put it all in a big tote by subject, page number, etc. I will even measure out stuff like baking soda, etc. Kind of like DIY science kits. Then, my older kids (or dh) can help with the experiments. Hopefully this way they will GET DONE. My kids love the messy experiments and I never have all the "common household items" to do them! I have tried making lists the week before. That just doesn't work for me. I have a few books now(all the Usborne Activities and Van Cleave books.) I don't like the Usborne ones because I don't like the format. I like an experiment page to look like a recipe. Very clear on supplies and procedure. The Usborne books are very random. Also, I like a science explanation.
  5. I was also going to suggest the 7 Sisters curriculum. Sounds fun.:)
  6. I really like the Visits to...series also. They were not done with the series when I used it. So, I made my own to finish out. There are books scheduled into the program. Hungry Planet, Material World, and readers according to age. So, there is a cultural aspect as well. Love that.
  7. 3 days are scheduled. There is plenty to do for the week though. The reading/read alouds alone would take the whole week-the readers are scheduled like "read 1/2 book this week" not by pages. The book lists are so detailed. I suppose the books are chosen so that they are age appropriate. I did see a few parental warnings(in red) in the Modern booklist. The maps are great. Super easy at the earlier levels. We used the Companion and SOTW, The questions we used only applied to SOTW(Cool history classics) I did not make the kids write out answers-we just discussed I did not use RTD, but I would in the future. Yes, they have RTD audio version. Not sure if it's for every level.. I like the craft ideas better in the SOTW guides. You can also google for ideas. You could cut out the figures and put them on your timeline. I love the timeline from BP though. We put ours on the wall.
  8. Honestly, it varies. We have never waited weeks. Yes, up to 1 week at times.
  9. I watched the full series(so far) of When Calls the Heart like this. While cooking dinner. I'm rewatching it now. I don't think I missed much the first time. Characters don't change too much. so glancing up now and again works well.
  10. Heal Rescuehttps://www.walmart.com/ip/Profoot-Care-Heel-Rescue-Superior-Moisturizing-Foot-Cream-16-Oz/10315082 I exfoliate with a stone in the shower and put the Heel Rescue on each night. I can not sleep in socks. Feels like I'm suffocating!:) I suffer from deep, painful cracks(as did my mom and her mom and my daughter) This has made all the difference!
  11. I think things like you want are an investment(when done right). DH does work for people all the time for cosmetic type things who think they will be moving "in a few years". You should make the space better FOR YOU while you are there. A potential buyer would be thrilled with great closets!
  12. So, we do not deal with allergies/sensitivities like you do. So YMMV. DS has a dairy allergy. He just skips cheese/milk. No expensive substitutions. If we had gluten issues, we would just not buy bread(or rarely). I would structure purchases to what we need. That would be a HUGE change and a painful one, indeed, but our grocery budget can't take that kind of hit. So DS can't have milk, so no almond milk(SO EXPENSIVE and not really that healthy.) No cereal. He gave it up. He eats oatmeal sometimes or eggs or fruit for breakfast. I'm sorry to hear about your Aldi. It's where I get so much organic stuff that costs $$$$$ at other stores. Do you have Country Life Natural Food co op delivery location near?https://www.clnf.org/
  13. Student loans ARE reasonable. How do you avoid a similar situation described? Try not to take out unsubsidized loans. These begin to accrue interest immediately. So, if you sign these loans freshman year, you already have a substantial amount of interest tacked on by graduation. Begin payments right away. Do not defer. Interest still accrues during the deferment period. And you also pay interest ON the interest. Pay more than the payment amount. Whatever extra you can manage.
  14. Agree with the bolded. I don't know exactly how this can be fixed. It would be time consuming to rebag curbside. And I agree that Walmart is not an awesome company. Other stores need to take this model and expand to online shopping. And they will as they see Walmart's success. I DO find Walmart to be cheaper on most things(except Aldi, Costco for some things). And I don't buy meat there. But, for toiletries and everyday stuff, they are usually the cheapest. If I have to go inside a store, it is rarely Walmart. I pay the Meijer or Target "pleasant experience" tax.
  15. I suppose the produce quality is related to the person picking it. You can ask to see the produce when you pick up and refuse what you don't like. That's what I do. I have only refused produce a few times. The shoppers must be trained well at my store. They show you any substitutions and you can refuse those as well. They take it off your bill right away.
  16. I was on vacation and missed it too! I am not on FB, but there are a few on there. I'm not sure what I will do.
  17. DS had a footlocker he kept in his closet at college. It was awesome for moving. And wasn't too heavy. He kept extra sheets and blankets and some valuables. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-Footlocker/45924283
  18. And Walmart keeps a list of what you have bought before, so you can just click to add to your cart.
  19. Another vote for Walmart grocery pickup. Game changer. I can spend days adding to my cart, then place an order for pick up the next day. I refuse to shop in store, but I love the pick up!
  20. You are right. In your situation, you have probably used up all the procedures available. An implant is your next one. Please see a specialist. 5 appointments in 1 hour with a single hygienist? A good adult cleaning with NO periodontal problems is about 25-30 minutes without an exam. A kid cleaning- about 15-20 minutes without exam. Even if there are family members, OSHA requires a sporicidal cleaning regimin.(takes at least 5 minutes per appointment.) Some states mandate exams at every appointment, some do not.
  21. It felt ...random? I really did not like spelling. The art/geography was fun, but got old fast. I did not mind the diagramming. I did not like the rest.:) But, you can look at it all and see what you think. I LOVE that about TG&TB.
  22. I have used and loved LA PreK-level 2. DS loved the sweet stories which almost always include pets. I do not like it past those levels. I tried level 4 and it was one of the very few curricula I have tossed aside. I gave it 1/2 year and switched to something else. I also really like the handwriting books. The Nature one is cute, too. The science units are just ok, imo.
  23. I don't think it would work well if you had to bring water to it from far. Mine is right next to the sink on a short plant stand on the counter. I think you would end up hating that.
  24. This is what I have. The Big Berkey. $278 https://pleasanthillgrain.com/berkey-water-purifier-filter It is 2 1/2 gallon. The smaller would work. You would just have to fill more often. I have had the same filters for 3 years.
