Popular Post Jann in TX
My oldest dd is an aspie. She is the reason we homeschooled. I remember crying one day when she was in 8th grade after she asked me what a 'frak-T-on' was (she was finishing pre-algebra at the time-- she had a partial seizure and had completely forgotten what a fraction was). DH actually over heard the conversation and wondered if she would ever be able to support herself as an adult... DD is now 28 and has lived on her own (with a bit of parental support) for the past few years. Today she found out that she is now the official studio manager at the photography studio she has been working at since she graduated college (she did that with honors!). This is her DREAM JOB. She will be 100% financially independent-- has insurance benefits too! I'm so proud of her!!! 82

Andromeda
Wonderful! Congratulations to your daughter and your entire family!!! I have an acquaintance who has special needs. Her mother was told for many years to give up and that the daughter would never amount to anything. Well, now the daughter (my acquaintance) is all grown up, married with two teen daughters of her own and a wonderful husband. She has a good job, drives a car, owns a nice house, and is an exceptionally gifted interpretative dancer. It all began when her mother refused to give up. Many hugs and virtual trophies for you both! Edited January 10, 2019 by RosemaryAndThyme
lavender's green
I am so happy for both of you! I hear a lot of young adult Aspie stories that aren't going well (which is good, it helps me prepare for the future), but it's awfully nice to hear that things can all work out.

DawnM
So happy for you both. I have an Aspie. We never thought he would even graduate high school. He is the reason we homeschooled. He is now a Junior in college, with a good scholarship to boot! He still doesn't drive, and he still has some struggles, and we still worry, but your story is encouraging.
