Okra
Some of the newer fun games I've played are Quixx - Grab and go and play in 15-20 minutes Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle - Takes more time, but is cooperative and the family works as a team. For me, this cooperative game is more fun than others like Pandemic and Forbidden Island Classics: Apples to Apples Hearts
Kareni
Up to 5 One of our favorite card games is Fluxx which comes in a variety of incarnations such as Pirate Fluxx Star Fluxx Oz Fluxx SET: The Family Game of Visual Perception Bananagrams Love Letter ~ It's a great game for two players that can also be played with three or four. OneStepAtATime
Sushi Go Tsuro Settlers of Catan Forbidden Island Pandemic Zombie Dice Sheriff of Nottingham Munchkin Qwerkle You can see all of these played on the show Table Top with Will Wheaton (may need to screen some episodes, depending on your sensibilities), so that would give you an idea if they might work for your family and it also helps a bit with understanding HOW to play (for those who struggle with reading rules and translating those rules into actual game play). creekland
Ah yes, Mexican Train is loved here too. That also brought to mind Five Crowns (a card game). When your youngest gets older and knows how to spell more words, Quiddler is fun. So is Bananagrams.
