oooo, this is going to be fun!  Apocalypse music!

Bad Moon Rising - CCR

A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall - Dylan

The End - The Doors

O Fortuna (Carmina Burana)

Dies Irae (Mozart's Requiem)

I almost suggested Mozart's Requiem.

I like Bad Moon Rising, too!

For consolation on either side in case of loss, Johnny Cash's version of God's Gonna Cut You Down.

Go tell that long tongue liar

Go and tell that midnight rider

Tell the rambler,

The gambler,

The back biter

Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down

In other words, they'll get theirs :) Eventually.

I was thinking of suggesting NIN's Head Like a Hole, which echoes the same sentiment with its "you're going to get what you deserve" line.  :)

What a mess we're in.

Well, maybe a few hymns are in order:

"When All The World Was Cursed" comes to mind.

Or the second verse to Praise the Almighty, My Soul Adore Him, which reads:

Trust not in princes; they are but mortal

Earthborn they are, and soon decay.

Naught are their counsels at life's last portal

When the dark grave doth claim its prey.

Since then no man can help afford,

Trust ye in Christ, our God and Lord!

Alleluia, alleluia.

Amen. â€œI have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.â€

This Is My Song (A Song of Peace) would also be very appropriate, I think.

Steve Earle's "Christmas in Washington"

It's Christmastime in Washington

The Democrats rehearsed
Gettin' into gear for four more years
Things not gettin' worse
Republicans drink whiskey neat
And thanked their lucky stars
They said, "He cannot seek another term
They'll be no more FDRs"

I sat home in Tennessee
Just staring at the screen
With an uneasy feeling in my chest
I'm wonderin' what it means

So come back Woody Guthrie
Come back to us now
Tear your eyes from paradise
And rise again somehow

and on that note maybe Woody's "Old Man Trump" about Donald's dad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jANuVKeYezs

Here are some recommendations from my husband :)  These aren't his favorite songs, musically, but the lyrics are appropriate. I  :001_wub: my man. He says:

"Radioactive†is definitely apocalyptic.  The original by Imagine Dragons is good (we have that album) but I actually prefer the cover by Pentatonix and Lindsey Stirling found here:

“It’s the End of the World†by R.E.M. is a little too obvious :)

“Sleep Now in the Fire†by Rage Against the Machine isn’t apocalyptic, but it does remind me of the election quite a bit.  I just re-watched the video and at 1:04 you can see someone holding a “Trump for President†sign — for the 2000 election!  Here is the video (interestingly made by Michael Moore):

Here are some lyrics from Linkin Park’s “Wretches and Kingsâ€:

There's a time, when the operation of the machine becomes so odious
Makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part
You can't even passively take part
And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels
Upon the levers, upon all the apparatus
And you've got to make it stop

The election also makes “Lies Greed Misery†by Linkin Park a little too appropriate:
.  The song kind of sucks (OK, it does suck) but it’s hard to argue with these lyrics:

I wanna see you choke on your lies
Swallow up your greed

Suffer all alone in your misery

[i feel like I should say that my husband is actually very gentle and kind. He doesn't suffer fools lightly, though.]

You might also like these lyrics from Linkin Park’s song “Hands Held High†about the war in Iraq.

Adding one more Jimmy Buffet song -- A Lot to Drink About. Although it was written around the time of the Great Recession, parts of it are certainly appropriate today. "I can't take another doomsday moment, we've got a lot to drink about."

I was going to link the You Tube video, but it does have some bad language…

It's a funny song, though, if you're in the mood.

Funny, one of our local radio stations was playing a whole series of songs that could relate to the election.  I wish I could remember the ones I heard.  They included ch ch ch changes, something about you gotta make up your mind, we don't have to agree, and several others.  :)
