ProudGrandma
I need a new purse or something to carry my "stuff" that won't hurt my shoulder or lower back. Here is some information that might help you help me...some information my be totally useless...but on the other hand, I don't want to leave anything out that might help. I am 47. I am short and small framed. I am not "out there" or wild. (I wouldn't say VERY conservative...but pretty close). The items that I feel I must have in my bag are: my wallet, 3 small EO holders, a zippered pouch with things like a nail clippers, lip balm, lotion, etc in it, sunglasses. You would think that all of that isn't too heavy....and it's not, unless I am walking a lot...which sometimes I do. I prefer a bag that will close on top and can be worn cross body, or not. Oh, I also can't pay $50 for a new bag....unless it is something that I will love for years. It seems like I buy something I think I will love and then after time, I don't. So if you think you know of or own the perfect bag, please send me a link or something. THANKS.
NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
I love Ameribag Healthy Back Bags. I would recommend an extra-small bag or an extra large baglett. The regular bag has a zip pocket, the baglett does not. I own a couple of smalls, and they are a bit too roomy. Ebags has coupon codes you can use. Just google a bit and you should find some savings. http://www.ebags.com/product/ameribag/microfiber-extra-large-baglett/284923?productid=10339331&rlid=DETAIL_AI http://www.ebags.com/product/ameribag/healthy-back-bag-micro-fiber-extra-small/3194?productid=908234&rlid=DETAIL_AI
Greta
I like LeSportsac bags because they are very lightweight. They also come in a nice variety of sizes, shapes, and styles. The only negative is that they don't meet your "less than $50" requirement. But I wanted to mention them anyway, because if you don't mind keeping an eye on eBay for awhile, you can occasionally find one in great condition at a great price. https://www.lesportsac.com/collection/classic-collection
history-fan
I have a couple bags Travelon that I really like. The second one is a little bit larger than the first one listed. http://www.qvc.com/Travelon-Leather-Adjustable-Crossbody-Bag.product.F11015.html?sc=F11015-User&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-7-_-F11015&catentryImage=http://images.qvc.com/is/image/f/15/f11015.001?$uslarge$ http://www.ebay.com/itm/Travelon-RFID-Blocking-Crossbody-Wallet-Passport-Organizer-Messenger-Travel-Bag-/201397551315
poppy
Go to a Marshall's or TJ Maxx, they often have a lot of Baggalini bags for under $50 (significantly less than retail).

There are almost always patterns $40-50 range, but the codes make them even better deals. (Pull down the pattern selection. Default is a pricier pattern.) LeSportsac Deluxe Everyday Handbag, Chroma Flower, One Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q7RPGQ8/ LeSportsac Deluxe Shoulder Satchel, Marion Floral, One Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q660XUY/ LeSportsac Classic Hobo Handbag, Art School, One Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q66VOU2/ Deluxe Everyday might be larger than you need. I have worn it cross-body on vacations. I can fit my dSLR in there in a padded sleeve. This Baggallini is a great size. The price on it is high on Amazon. TJMaxx or maybe ebags with a coupon? I know I paid under $50. The linings are usually a contrasting color so you can find things inside easily. The charcoal is lined with hot pink. :) Baggallini Everywhere Travel Crossbody Bag, Charcoal, One Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XGBTN4/ Vera Bradley has good sales. They're lightweight and washable. Not everyone likes the patterns, but they come in solids too. This Kipling Europa is my favorite bag. With a coupon/code it would go under $50. It's lightweight, washable, zippers don't jam, and has great pockets. It's been my daily use bag for 3+ years and preferred travel bag for a year before that. I tried Amazon before but didn't have much luck with patterns that I liked. I didn't think to look for a coupon code, though. And I haven't checked at TJMaxx or Marshalls. I'll have to try that. Another Lynn
Vera Bradley - either the Hipster, the Triple Zip Hipster or the Mail Bag. They are just over your price range in new patterns. Sale patterns will be less. Solid colors will be slightly more. They are all three cross body. Hipster is the sleekest; mail bag is the biggest. http://www.verabradley.com/product/hipster-crossbody/classic-black/1001756_176910.uts?Nr=AND%28Content+Type%3Aproduct%29&Ntt=black+hipster

Desert Strawberry
How big is your EO case? Those are HEAVY. Can you trade out for mini vials?
alisoncooks
I love my Patagonia cross-body sling. When I plan on being out longer and I need to take my tablet, I use my REI sling. ETA: I got them each for under $20. One off ebay, one brand new but on clearance from REI.
ProudGrandma
thank you so much for all of these suggestions. I really appreciate them. I wish we had a TJ Max or some of the other stores you all mentioned. Unless I can buy it at a walmart or target, I have to shop on line. But that is ok. and yes, EO is essential oils...and my holders are pretty small....I have 2 that hold 8 mini vials and one that holds 3 roller bottles. I rarely use them...but on the few occasions that I have, I was REALLY glad I had them in my bag...so I am not willing to leave them home. Question on the backpack type bags mentioned....I have always been a bit worried about having my stuff on my bag...for fear that a slick pick pocket would walk off with my stuff....does that not bother the rest of you...am I being too paranoid...no, I usually am not walking around in huge crowds...but sometimes I am... thanks again for the suggestions...sorry I was absent yesterday to respond...but I am watching for all of the ideas.

I'm always worried something's going to tumble out when I'm in a hurry.
Murphy101
It sounds more like you need new or better shoes.... Aside from that... Idk. I'd just go to wackomart or target or whatever and see what you can find and otherwise be on the look out for a better purse.
Garga
I used a backpack as a purse for a while (a cute flowered one.) I found it to be a pain, literally and figuratively, to have to pull it off each and every time I needed to get something out of it. Look for something that doesn't have to actually come off of your body to use. Make sure it can slide around to the front of you when you need to use it. I thought I'd love the backpack, so that my hands would be free and my purse wouldn't fall off my shoulder, but it was a major pain when I had to acutally use it. I'm back to a regular purse that I can leave on my shoulder while I rifle through it for when I need to get something out of it.
