Victory is Mine! Huzzah! Update in Post 16

I posted about a year ago about trying to reclaim premiums from the company that we used to insure our rental property in London.  For complicated reasons, it turned out it was double insured, so they would not have paid out even if there had been a claim.  Over the last year, the company has tried to close the case twice, has requested the same documents repeatedly, contacted me by phone despite my asking for everything in writing, asked me one particular question four times......  Finally, I wrote to them detailing the progress of the case and saying that I would go to the ombudsman (regulator) in 30 days if the issue was not resolved.

They just gave in!  I don't have a figure for the refund yet, but the insurance was not cheap and it ran for several years.  This could be a real help - there are a couple of damp spots in the walls of our house in Scotland that we really need a professional to come in and look at, and now we should be able to do it!

We just received our refund cheque.  I have a few things to query, but basically they are refunding the equivalent of over half a year of my salary!  And £50 compensation for mucking us about.  The latter could have been a bit more, for all the trouble I've gone to, but I'm pretty tired of the fight at this stage so I think I'll just take it.  Now to call the builder about the damp problem...
