Dmmetler
Yes, but not until I moved to TX for grad school-I think it's a regionalism.
SailorMom
Grew up in CA - I had no idea until I moved to the south. I do know now, but voted 'no' for regional reasons. I had, however, heard of 'Emancipation Day'.
MyThreeSons
I voted no, then looked it up. I guess I sort of had a vague idea. I grew up in CA; I have raised my sons in SC.
Cinder
No. I've heard the term but didn't actually know what it referred to. I grew up in HI. First time I heard the term was about 10 years ago; can't remember if we were living in AR or KY at the time.

Veritaserum
Yep, courtesy of SWB's Story of the World Vol. 4. :) I grew up in CA and now live in UT. It is not celebrated or mentioned in either place as far as I'm aware.
Mom23Boys
Grew up and live now in Louisiana. I had never heard that term before. We call it Emancipation Day. When I Googled, I found out Baton Rouge has a Juneteenth celebration, so I don't know if I have just never paid attention or what. We rarely go to any of the festivals/celebrations downtown, so I could have just not paid attention to the name.
Seasider
Deep Southerner here. Seems like I've always known that one.

learning2gether
I have heard of it and we do attend a Juneteenth celebration/community festival every year. I am in Florida and there are quite a few festivals in my county and surrounding counties this year. I even saw that one organization was putting on a Juneteenth Rodeo. Candid
I knew this, I grew up in NC, but I am pretty sure we did not study this in class. I am pretty darn old and it's just knowledge I picked up somewhere along the way.

misty.warden
I'm from Oregon, and I'm pretty sure I either learned about it from hitting the "random" button on Wikipedia (fun Saturday nights, that's me) or from browsing r/TodayILearned. It definitely wasn't something I learned in history.
