jenL
The list of seed companies has me wondering what everyone's favorite companies are. We haven't ordered our catalog yet - we've been buying organic ones from a local hardware/farm store, but we are not opposed to branching out in our choices. So, what seed company do you love and why?
DaffodilDreams
We love Baker Creek. We've always had a good success rate with their seeds, and the produce is yummy. The company has great customer service, ships your items fast, and usually includes a surprise bonus packet of seeds.
prairiewindmomma
Baker Creek....for the reasons listed above.
4kidlets4me
Territorial Seed. I live in the PNW and all their seeds grow wonderfully here.
MomsintheGarden
Baker Creek, Johnny's, and Southern Exposure Seed Exchange are our favorites. We also buy seeds and seed potatoes from our local farm supply store.
myfunnybunch
Territorial. We're in the PNW also, near their test gardens. :)

Guest inoubliable
Another vote for Baker Creek. The catalog alone is delicious.
Carrie12345
Baker's Creek. And I used them even before I heard they were homeschoolers. ;-)
tearose
Seed Savers Exchange--My local grocery co-op carries their seeds, which is convenient for me.

mommymilkies
Seed Savers or Baker Creek. I order from both to make sure I get all of the varieties I love. :)
Miss Mousie
I like Pinetree (superseeds.com) because most of their seed packets contain around 30 seeds. A garden as small as mine does not require the 300-seed packets that many catalogs sell, and the smaller packets have smaller prices so I can try something new without much risk. They are a small (family, IIRC) company and have terrific customer service. I haven't heard of Baker Creek. The last thing I need is yet another seed catalog, but the number of recommendations here have me curious!
ILiveInFlipFlops
We love Baker Creek. We've always had a good success rate with their seeds, and the produce is yummy. The company has great customer service, ships your items fast, and usually includes a surprise bonus packet of seeds. I agree, for the same reasons. Our success rates with their seeds have been phenomenal. I planted my first Baker Creek seeds in 2009. Last summer we started our first major garden, and I planted seeds from all of those 2009 packets. The germination rates were still 100%. Their product descriptions are accurate, and the customer reviews were key in making our garden very successful. I also love their commitment to heirloom seeds and to fighting GMOs and everything that goes along with that industry.

PachiSusan
When we finally get a place to call our own, we are going to be growing quite a lot of fruits and veggies on our own. I am very concerned about GMO's, so I'm very glad to hear of seed companies that have this concern and avoid them as well.
JFSinIL
http://www.seedsavers.org/ I love getting the heirloom varieties.
icecream
I've been very happy with Seed Savers Exchange
justamouse
I really love that other list--it's got a lot of small seed companies that are non GMO and though I've loved Baker Creek, I'm going to give a smaller Mom and Pop my business this year. merry gardens
Renee's Garden http://www.reneesgarden.com/ Expensive, but they sell seeds for some truly beautiful plants.
Lady Marmalade
Baker Creek, Johnny's and Seed Saver's for the bulk of my garden needs. For heirloom tomato seeds, Mariseeds is hard to be beat, with over 1,000 varieties. I have 88 of those 1,000 varieties... so many more to explore! Lady Marmalade
Renee's Garden http://www.reneesgarden.com/ Expensive, but they sell seeds for some truly beautiful plants. The year I ordered from Renee's I had excellent germination. I had cucumbers and beans from them, and they were spectacular. I should order from her again. Kalmia
Fedco is where I get the bulk of my purchases. Very happy with them. Love their catalog (no photos!) all history and opinion and details about the varieties. Territorial for my Bolero carrots that Fedco doesn't carry. I am going to try a few from Baker Creek this year. On Amazon you can "look inside" their book and read a lot about how they started the company. http://www.amazon.com/Heirloom-Life-Gardener-Growing-Naturally/dp/1401324398/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1359153847&sr=1-2&keywords=bakers+creek+seeds
dbmamaz
i know the people who run Southern Exposure. One thing to keep in mind is - at least for Southern Exposure, i believe the majority of their seeds are grown here in virginia - so they are esp suitable for this region. Seeds from michigan might not do as well in VA!
Briva
My dad was an avid gardener, he loved Pinetree Seeds, for the reasons stated here...few seeds/low price. He always got good service. He doesnt garden anymore so I inherited his stash of seeds :) I like http://www.cooksgarden.com/ I once purchased their started kit, seed starter trays, soil and seeds. It was wonderful. Never had any problems with them.
