  1. Don't burst the Scottish Bad*ss image I have of you!
  2. Am I the only one who thinks of It's a Wonderful Life reading this? 😅
  3. Usually we wait til the start of December. In year's past, I tended to have a disdainful look at houses that started early because I feel like Christmas gets rushed. I'm not quite feeling that way this year. Since we're staying home for Thanksgiving, I have already put the idea in dh's head about at least getting the lights on the house this weekend. We keep our decoration up through January 6.
  4. 1.) I took the teens for some Ramen from a local joint a few weeks ago just to have the ability to eat outside and get out of the house for a bit. 2.) Not quite sure, but it would have been in March just before lockdowns. 3.) There's a creole restaurant that dh and I were only able to visit once. We had planned to go back and then lockdowns happened. If it survives, I'd love to go again for a date night/ outing. 4.) I'm not sure how to answer this. We did a lot of take out before the pandemic. Usually, no one wants to cook and sometimes were all too lazy to want to actually go o
  5. My mom had mine first done in the doctor's office when I was a toddler. Around 7, she had them re-pierced (this time at the local mall ::facepalm::) because they had closed up. I still have those holes. When I was a teen, I got 2 extra holes added to each ear. 1 of those has closed but the rest are still fine. So now my left ear has 2 holes next to each other and my right has 3. I generally wear 2 sets of earrings most weekdays as I work fulltime. I tend to not wear any on the weekends.
  6. I bought these over the summer and I'm pretty happy with them. I used them while jogging and they stayed in: https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Boltune-Bluetooth-Waterproof-Headphones/dp/B07RDLBHGC/ref=pd_rhf_ee_s_rp_c_2_0_4/141-9215998-4459609?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07RDLBHGC&pd_rd_r=843060d8-000d-40c0-98e8-f2fa9eaff57b&pd_rd_w=XjY5J&pd_rd_wg=Afg08&pf_rd_p=eedb2e0a-dc98-41ea-a87a-c2ba640d1762&pf_rd_r=QN510JBY6MM91VAW1XYF&psc=1&refRID=QN510JBY6MM91VAW1XYF
  7. #teambagatthecar - except for a few situations where paying the bag fee was worth the convenience. While I appreciate the Aldi bagging area or the outdoor tables under canopies area my local TJ's set up, I would rather bag my groceries away from others and with more air exposure. Most stores here won't bag into re-useable bags, so I just bag my stuff outside by my vehicle (weather permitting).
  8. Generally, I don't but my work is planning to open back up to the public soon. I work in a large, urban setting, so I figured if ever there was a year to do it, it's this one. I wasn't too happy when I was given one 3 years ago during an ER visit that I don't recall being asked about first and only noticed upon reading my discharge papers a day or two later (I probably would have skipped it because it was March and I don't live in a cold climate.) Dh will probably skip it. Youngest ds will be getting one next week.
  9. No kidding! Could I be added to the PM train? OP- sorry to hear about your experience.
  10. Hot spot location here. I had to rush my dh to the ER in the early morning hours about 2 weeks ago. Everything was set up outside for intake. We had our temps checked and had to be masked. There was only one entry point for the ER and they had a security guard out front with the nurses. I got the impression I wouldn't have been allowed to push his wheelchair in, but dh's responses to some question demonstrated his confusion at that point. I was allowed in so I could speak to the nurse while he took his vitals. Once that was done, I was asked to leave and told I could call the posted phone
  11. In case anyone is curious about the current project of studying quarantining time frames and types of library materials, you can view the updates and studies at https://www.webjunction.org/explore-topics/COVID-19-research-project.html.
  12. Looks like it's online learning for the CA counties on the Governor's List. https://abc7.com/education/live-newsom-announces-which-ca-school-district-can-reopen-this-fall/6321702/
  13. Yup. Used to try to sneak that onto my morning oatmeal instead of just cinnamon as a kid. As a breakfast treat, my mom would make toast with it. When we didn't have it pre-mixed, we'd do it ourselves. In my high school and early college years I moved to using it with butter on tortillas.
  14. I was shocked to see this last night, too. I had to read the headline a few times to let it sink it. According to The Hollywood Reporter (and now a few other places like People Magazine): "Imahara died suddenly following a brain aneurysm, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. "We are heartbroken to hear this sad news about Grant." https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/grant-imahara-dead-mythbusters-host-was-49-1303101
  15. Rubbing alcohol. I can't find it anywhere. Otherwise, it varies from week to week. Sometimes it's something like frozen pizzas, the next it will be a limited selection of pasta sauce brands. I wanted to get one this year, too. I figured that if we were going to mostly be home as is, then it would give the youngest something to do other than a water slide or playing in the sprinkler. I'm kicking myself for not taking better care of the one we had in the past.
  16. That's pretty much how it is at my work place. We've been doing this since the closures in Mid-March. In the last few weeks, temperature checks were required. We have hand sanitizers distributed throughout the building for staff and encourage hand washings through out the day. Masks are required in all common areas and hallways. Since we're closed to the public, all doors to staff-only areas are propped open so we don't have to touch multiple surfaces.
  17. I have been waiting. I was considering taking myself for my bday this year, but then Covid happened. 🙄 You best not log in all at once, I don't want to see this.... *LOL*
  18. I'll be interested to see how this plays out. A story from a tv station article on it: https://abc7.com/health/covid-california-issues-statewide-order-on-masks/6254439/
  19. Disneyland Resort is working on being open by next month: https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/06/disneyland-resort-proposes-plans-to-begin-phased-reopening-july-9-with-proposed-reopening-of-theme-parks-july-17/ FWIW, Orange County, CA, "strongly recommends" but does not require mask use in public (https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2020/06/11/face-masks-orange-county-required-coronavirus/). I'm sure Disneyland will have their own rules regarding masks, but at this time they are not required unless a business chooses to require it of their clientele/ patrons.
  20. I've been reporting to work everyday. I've tried to reduce grocery store trips but its hard to go less than 2 times a week. When I'm not working, I'm home. The family has been pretty house bound since mid-March. We've seen a family friend only once, otherwise it's phone/ FaceTime calls. We also had our 6 month dentist visit about 2 weeks ago. I have a friend who is starting to feel more comfortable about hosting a distanced visit in her yard, so I'm planning to meet up with her fairly soon. That's about it.
  21. Our 6 month teeth cleaning and check up was last week. Our dentist has a very small office. We were instructed to call when we arrived and to bring our masks. After arriving, they checked our temps. They waved us in when they were ready. Our appointments were spaced out, so dd and went in first and later on, dh and the boys. When we went in, we used hand sanitizer and then had our oxygen levels checked. After that, we were escorted to the exam chairs and handled clear eye wear. We had to rinse with a peroxide solution before any cleaning happened. There were multiple air purifiers set up throu
  22. Mine had bikes when I went this past weekend...
  23. Maskne- an unexpected side effect.
  24. I ordered some off etsy that arrived in 3 days from this seller: https://www.etsy.com/shop/FromRagstoTreasures?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=787781926
