Tammyla
:grouphug:Cont. prayers:grouphug:. Thanks for updating us. Update - For all of you who are praying ...the doctors are saying it is prayer that is responsible for the remarkable progress she is making. They had to do a quadruple bypass a few days ago. She is recovering from that surgery well. The ECMO machine that was doing the work of her heart and lungs has been reduced to 45%. The doctors are saying that today they hope to have her off of it!! She is not yet allowed to be out of the sedation but the hope it that once the external machines are removed they will allow her to be awake. The doctors are saying that the next 24 hours are critical to see if her heart can take up the work by itself. They have requested prayers as well. Thank you all so much! - Cammie

mothergooseof4
Wow! When I first read this thread I was so saddened by the circumstances. Now I am sitting here amazed! Praise God! Beth S
UPDATE - ECMO machine has been removed as of 4 hours ago. Her heart is now doing all the work unassisted. We are looking for stronger heart and improved capacity to work. The life of the 16yo son of a close friend here was saved after a lengthy time on the ECMO machine. He had severe MRSA & pneumonia. The machine cycles and filters the entire circulatory and respiratory system(s). It requires the continual (100%) attention of a nurse to monitor all the levels, so the cost of the machine + staff are exorbitant, but it looks like this machine (& the Lord, and so many prayers) has now saved at least two lives! Yes, here she has been attended 24/7 by 2-3 nurses at a time. I cannot imagine what the cost would be in the US. Even here in India I imagine it is expensive. She is also in an isolated ICU room to avoid any infection. Thank God all this is available here - as well as some excellent doctors!
