BabyBre
Have you read it personally, in its entirety? I always feel like a heel when I think that I have never read the entire Constitution. Why don't we have to do that in American schools? I'm picking it up today.
Crissy
In its entirety in one sitting? No. But through reading bits and parts with my boys we've covered the whole thing. I really should read it all at once.
freeindeed
Yes, I have.
Tap
Yes, we read it when I was in 7th grade and discussed each part in length. No wonder I always hated history :0)
Garga
I voted no because I don't really remember any of it, but I think I might (might) have had to read it in school. But since I can't remember, I'll count that as a no.
lionfamily1999
I have, for school and for some arguments with family members. I have found, though, that it's like having read the entire New Testament. Sure, I have, but that doesn't mean it all sunk in, or that I was able to understand every bit of it.
Krista in LA
Yes, and I wish all members of our government would do the same - should be a requirement for getting elected.
proverbs356lady
Sadly, I don't think I've ever read it in its entirety. I've read much of it but not even in recent years. I think it's time for me to remedy that. What a perfect weekend to pull it out and get going. Thanks for the question! :blushing:

LizzyBee
We had to read the Constitution and all the amendments in 8th grade US History. I've read parts of it since then. Edited July 4, 2009 by LizzyBee
BillieBoy
Yes, but not recently. I think it's time for a refresher. Has anyone ever seen or taken the American Citizenship test? I was embarrassed when I was quizzing my 70 year old grandmother for it when I was in college and I stumbled on quite a few of the answers. Thank goodness I'll teach my dd better. dirty ethel rackham
I read it in 8th grade, in 11th grade and a few times with my kids. Everytime we study the revolution, we read the Constitution. I helped my son study for his constitution test last year as part of a class offered at a local co op.

kah
I voted yes, but have to admit it was a long, long time ago- probably high school government.
Dirtroad
Yes, long ago. Happily... we cover it in school this year. I even pulled out a book about federalist papers this week.... that will be tough, but it will make me a better teacher this fall! Not to mention... a better citizen! Look out Washington! HappyGrace
Yes, this past yr in our studies. Enough to make me know the framers would roll over in their graves at what is happening in our govt! (Not a political statement-I mean on both sides of the fence!) It really makes me wonder how certain things are happening w/out people up in arms about it, pointing to the Constitution and saying, "This is completely AGAINST the Constitution!" (Again, not a statement on any one thing, but things done and/or supported by all political parties.)
SheilaZ
read it and have the app on my ipod. (I kid you not.) I have the Constitution, the Bible, and Great Books. (I'm currently reading Flatland.) It keeps me busy in the waiting room and helps when I just need to look something up.
MomOfOneFunOne
Repeatedly and recently and I refer to it frequently. Me, too. I read it earlier in my adulthood b/c I thought I ought. Now, not only do I read if and refer to it often, I am requiring my daughter to memorize it (and I may try that, too.) We're still on the Declaration, though. elw_miller
I've read it, but not all in one sitting and I do not remember enough of it to speak confidently about much of it. Time to pick it up again!

BabyBre
I would now like to change my vote to "Yes"! I plan on delving a little deeper. Can anyone recommend a good (and cheap) course or study guide?
Gretchen in NJ
Yes, I have. I have also read the Declaration of Independence to my girls this 4th of July. We are going to make it a family tradition.:001_smile:
Shelly in the Country
Why don't we have to do that in American schools? I had to read it in my public high school. Of course, I'm sure there were some kids in my class who didn't do their reading assignments... I wasn't tested really thoroughly on it as I recall.
