I hate cooking and I hate planning meals and I hate the clean up. If I lived alone, I'd just snack throughout the day.

My son with Aspergers got his first job at a local discount grocery store doing stock. It worked out very well for him. He did have to go on many interviews before he was hired and it was definitely tough on him. Having your ds practice speaking clearly and making eye contact is great. As far as answering about customer service, the idea to look at the company website to find keywords is an excellent idea. Otherwise, I think saying something about going out of your way to make sure customers are satisfied - being friendly and helpful - is pretty basic. You don't want to overwhelm ds with too many things to think about at once. Good luck to him!

I'd add chocolate chips to this: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/claire-robinson/flourless-peanut-butter-cookies-recipe.html

Can you recommend any brands of these products? My daughter is 14 and has eczema since she was an infant. We have taken her to dermatologists and allergists with no success. She is very self-conscious about her skin now and we don't know what to do for her. It is very frustrating.

I hate surprise parties. I've had two and was gracious both times, but I really hated them and don't want to ever have another. I think the only surprise party I would like is if my kids all got together to surprise me since it's rare that we are all together as a family. That would be a wonderful surprise.

Graduate early? (gifted)
Kassia replied to StephanieZ's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
My daughter (just turned 14 and in 9th grade) wants to graduate early, but I would prefer that she does dual enrollment until she's 18. I will have her prepared to graduate a year early if that's what she really wants, but I am hoping that she will change her mind. My niece graduated high school (parochial school) at 16 and started her freshman year at Dartmouth just after turning 17 last year. She just turned 18 over the summer as an intern in D.C. So far it seems to be working out fine for her, but she's a very mature young woman (lost her mom to breast cancer when she was 13). -
Healthy eating parents...Thoughts on snack bars?
Kassia replied to madteaparty's topic in The Chat Board
I really like Quest bars and Kirkland (Costco) bars. -
I can't lose or maintain weight without being hungry. I hate it and sometimes I wonder if it's worth it. I'm tired of fighting hunger all the time and then feeling guilty when I cave and eat.

Yep. We're driving our two sons to college tomorrow morning and neither are packed or even close to it. It makes me a nervous wreck, but I can't do anything about it. They know when we're leaving and what needs to be done. I packed some, made them lists, did their laundry, and the rest is up to them. It's going to be a madhouse here at the last minute.

Give me a good reason to not go have a chocolate bar
Kassia replied to Ginevra's topic in The Chat Board
My son hid the dark chocolate on top of the fridge. I happened to see it and tried to resist, but eventually caved and decided to eat some. Fortunately, he had it far enough back that I couldn't reach it without getting on a chair and I wasn't going to go through that much trouble. So, no chocolate! He thought that was the funniest thing. -
Insane college move-in day for dd tomorrow!

Good luck and hope you get a chance to recover after it's all over! -
Did your child go off to college and not know a single person on campus?
Kassia replied to Samiam's topic in The Chat Board
I didn't know anyone and my oldest son didn't know anyone. It was fine for both of us. We both made friends and those friendships will last a lifetime (over 30 years for me). -
My kids bring tuna and salmon pouches, protein bars, granola bars, cereal bars, dry cereal, nuts (lots of nuts), peanut butter, trail mix, jerky, fruit (dried or fresh)...

I recently canceled and sent a letter and then called to make sure they received the letter. You could send it certified if you wanted to be safe. Going in to cancel is probably your best bet, though.

Suggestions for health curriculum?
Kassia replied to mamakelly's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
I haven't used it yet, but plan on using Oak Meadow. -
Do you get those $10 off a $10 or more purchase coupons?
Kassia replied to Ottakee's topic in The Chat Board
I get the coupons, but have never paid with a check there. We just used ours last week - got my daughter a nice cardigan on sale for $20 and paid $10. I have one to use at Peebles, too. -
What resource for Geography?
Kassia replied to Debbi in Texas's topic in High School and Self-Education Board
My daughter learned a ton of geography playing Sporcle. http://www.sporcle.com/games/category/geography -
Have you looked at British Lit through Lightning Literature? I haven't used it, but have read good reviews. https://www.hewitthomeschooling.com/Materials/mLLSrHigh.aspx

My daughter is a rising freshman and took two DE Spanish classes over the summer (8 credits )and is taking another one in the fall (3 credits) and another in the spring (3 credits). My plan for the year is: 1 unit English (American Lit) 1 unit Social Studies (World History) 1 unit Science (Biology w/lab) 1 unit Math (Algebra 2) 1/2 - 1 unit P.E. (gymnastics) 4 units foreign language (four courses at CC for 14 college credits) Can I count her Spanish classes as four high school units of foreign language if they are taken in one year? I didn't know if that would look wrong on her transcript. Thanks!

How to watch NBC olympics w/o cable provider
Kassia replied to Tranquility7's topic in The Chat Board
Thank you! We are using it now and it's great! -
A friend of mine swears by ginger. I think she takes it in a pill form. We always covered up the window on the side my dd was sitting so her peripheral vision wouldn't get input from the moving scenery. It definitely helped.

We bought a memory foam mattress topper and the smell really got to me for the first couple of weeks - made me nauseated. For the OP, we bought a mattress from Amazon last year and it worked out great and we would definitely do it again.

I use the Free and Clear pods a lot - Tide or All.
