  1. Our church is tiny, and older. Our kids are the only kids nowadays. Have you considered a song, or a collection of songs? Our choir sang "Mary Did You Know?" one year. I was up front, dressed like Mary, and holding ds#2 who was 9 months/7 months gestationally. He fell asleep during the song. :001_wub:
  2. Dh is ambidextrous, and has gone back and forth learning on his left and right. He wasn't taught consistently, and got very frustrated when they tried to correct his (almost unreadable) handwriting at the middle school and high school level. Because of this, I make sure ds5.9 writes his letters correctly, about 80% of the time he's doing free writing, and 100% when he's working on school work. I try to be gentle but firm. A pencil grip helps a lot.
  3. Was the tendon still attached when you cut it off? I've always wanted to try pulling the tendon and making the claw grasp and un-grasp :D
  4. Here is the link to my blog post about how we organized our school supplies, with pictures.:001_smile:
  5. Ds#1 I called almost everyone in my family almost as soon as I got the positive test. Ds#2 We waited until 12 weeks, except for dh's tiny side of the family (who live in the area) and my best friend. I might be pregnant right now, we'll see. If I am, we will wait until 3 months again, for various reasons. I don't want the kids to know until then, either. (If I am, I will post it here because I'd be bursting to tell. :tongue_smilie:)
  6. No wait, but dh 10 minutes earlier had a few minutes to wait. We went in the early afternoon.
  7. I have a very similar issue, and I have anxiety over it, too. What I do is have them use a small needle on the vein on the top of my hand. Sometimes it hurts more, but they always get it right the first time.
  8. I already do that ; you are welcome. ;) And I update them, too. But I update me signature on a regular basis because I put the date of my latest blog post (I post pretty regularly.)
  9. “He that hath a beard is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than a man. He that is more than a youth is not for me, and he that is less than a man, I am not for him.” Dh has a goatee :001_wub: the perfect balance.
  10. Just a reminder that the drop off period is November 12-19. :001_smile: That means you have just 2 weeks to fill your shoebox! Here's the link for finding a drop-off place if you're not doing it through a church/youth group/organization/etc. Here's the link for swellmomma's link about what people put in their shoeboxes. Here's the link for my blog post about our box (pictures included.)
  11. Costumes! You can find something authentic/civilization specific to make to go with each one. Then your kid can dress/wear that item/outfit for each one while you're learning about it. Take pictures, too. I am totally looking forward to making the Mycenaean helmet! And here's Builder Boy dressed like an ancient Egyptian: one with a home-made Egyptian wig (instructions to make the wig here,) one with the double crown of Egypt.
  12. I haven't seen the latest episode, but I got the impression from season 1 that Henry's dad was a real scumbag. A drug dealer or date-rape type of situation. That doesn't jive with Bea's character, but I could be wrong about my impression of the conversation between Emma and MM/Snow.
  13. No, never. Unless you can prove that the information is out dated and there is someone else who lives there, no.
  14. Isn't that the sort of thing you should report?!
  15. :grouphug: This was me, too! They NEVER had my name, and I really wanted that for my kids. But apparently, my ds#1's name doesn't qualify. :smilielol5::smilielol5: :iagree: Wonderfully smart of you to dis-engage and not let her continue to try to justify herself.
  16. That reminded me of Julie & Julia where she burnt the pot roast, stayed home from work to re-do, and her husband made sure she posted on her blog that she was sick.
  17. Well, if something's on the floor the headlights could make it visibly sparkle since it's closer and at a different angle than your room lights. Like the CSI guys (on the tv show) using flashlights even when the lights are on; it focuses your eyes and attention.
  18. If you are a Christian I would suggest getting anointed. For current problems and/or when you do become pregnant.
  19. We are doing something similar. Instead of graphing how much of each type of candy, we're making observations about the differences in tastes and textures and recording the information on a chart. I blogged about it and made a chart to print out if anyone wants it. ETA: Oops, I tried to add the picture and it's HUGE. You'll have to go to my blog to print it out (for free!)
  20. I got the idea to make letters out of fuzzy sticks/pipe cleaners off of Pinterest. :001_smile: It could help a kinetic learner or a kids who does better with 3D things. It could be good practice.
