My 3.5 yo is calling me a "scurvy ______" (last part varies. Right now it's "scurvy luch" ) as his mean/rebellious name calling.

I had some confusion when I read TWTM a year ago and was deciding what to get for my then kindergartener for handwriting. It said Zaner-Bloser handwriting was "continuous stroke" but it didn't say that anywhere on the ZB website. I called and asked and the customer service person I talked to had no idea why WTM called it that. I almost didn't buy it because of that, but I finally decided to try it and I'm glad I did. Today I got to host a guest post by a representative of Zaner-Bloser who does know why TWTM calls it "continuous stroke" and talks a little bit about "continuous stroke" vs. "ball and stick." Check it out if you're interested. (I'm not being paid to host it.) I know other people on here have posted about this question and I thought I'd put this on here so people can search it when they need to.

So much for my Good Citizen Badge

I'm torn between reporting it and offering to pay for it for the old man. But I would DEFINITELY have reported an employee doing nothing after it being reported. -
Nope, but I can ask dh. We were both born in the 80's, but he's a computer geek.

That's awful.

That's what I was hoping for. He tried, bless his heart, at first. If they could have done it with his head to the side it would have been fine. But they needed his face right down on the sheet/table top and after 10 minutes (after 4 hours waiting in the ER :glare: ) he was done and started kicking and screaming. It was after dinnertime (which we didn't have because we were waiting in the ER) and almost bedtime by the time they tried. But I think after last night he is going to be very uncooperative today.

Yesterday my 3.5 year old came up to me and told me that he put a bead up his nose and that it hurt. He has never said or done anything like that before, so we decided to take him to the ER (the call in advice nurse said to take him there instead of rapid care.) 5 hours later we were sent home because we couldn't get him still enough to take a clear x-ray. They refereed us to a nose an ear specialist. The ER doc told me they would sedate him and go up his nose with tools to try to find it. But when I called the specialists' office the nurse (?) told me that they wouldn't do that at the appointment, they would just try to hold him down (which did NOT work last night trying to get the x-ray) and examine to see if surgery is necessary! How did it get to that?! We're not even sure there is anything up there at all!! Please, anyone BTDT? :crying: UPDATE: The specialist said that there is only a 20% chance that there is a bead up there. He thinks ds might have a bacteria infection and took a culture. He wants to put ds on antibiotics and see him in 10 days. I'm putting off starting the antibiotics until the culture comes back.

Would you attend a church if you don't believe...
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to NotSoObvious's topic in The Chat Board
I don't see the point of going to a Christian church unless you're willing to be open to believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the only way to salvation. If that is completely impossible for you then you would probably be wasting your time. -
Construction type gift for 11yo boy?
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to Jaybee's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I just got ds a bunch of PVC pipe to build with. I cut it in 1ft, 2ft, 3ft, 4ft, and 5ft pieces and got a whole bunch of fittings. We gave them to him on Thanksgiving (we had to cancel his birthday party) and he hasn't played with any other toy since. :D Here's my blog post about it. -
3 days later Builder Boy is still playing with his pvc pipe present. He hasn't played with any other toy at all!

I made a wish list of all the books recommended but I think the list is the WTM for reading, not SOTW. I had to search them all myself.

Need a gift idea for a young engineer
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to EmilyJ's topic in The Chat Board
We just gave ds6 a bunch of measured lengths of pvc pipe and the fittings to go with it to build contraptions, structures, forts, whatever he wants. He LOVES it. I blogged about it for more info. -
Unequal Friendships?
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to JumpyTheFrog's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I have one friend. She has other friends that I don't "hang out" with. I consider her my "best friend" but she's never called me that, though she has refereed to other friends as her "best friend" on facebook. I have no idea if the things she confides in me she are things she talks with her other friends. Sometimes it makes me sad, but there's nothing I can do about it. I'm not about to guilt-trip her into calling me a "best friend." We're planning on moving out of state in (hopefully) some time in the next 6 months. Once that happens we'll probably only be facebook friends. -
How to start a blog? And is it helpful?
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to Amy M's topic in General Education Discussion Board
I really like Blogger, though I tried to sign up to monetize months ago and I still haven't been approved or whatnot. My blog is mostly about homeschooling (link in my signature,) and it's good for keeping me on track and holding me accountable. -

Train Wreck Thanksgiving Stories?
theYoungerMrsWarde replied to Heatherwith4's topic in General Education Discussion Board
*sigh* I pi$$ed off my BIL and he stormed out and didn't come back. :blushing: We had to do ds6's birthday things on Thanksgiving because ds was sick and we had to cancel his birthday party. BIL didn't want to have to stop watching the recorded football game for his very patient nephew's birthday gifts and activity. :glare: I had the audacity to ask which was a bigger priority: football or his nephew? It's a small house; there was no other room to do it in and no other place to watch the game. -
I first heard about giving your building inclined kid pvc pipe lengths to build with on this forum and yesterday I got to give it to Builder Boy for his 6th birthday!! He loves it! Here's a picture of the first thing he built at Nana and Apa's house where we gave it to him. I blogged about it, too. The fit of the pipe with the fittings is perfect. It's tight enough that they stay in and loose enough that he can put on and take off the fittings without too much trouble. Thank you so much to whoever it was that mentioned this on here!!! We also made pvc pipe mini marshmallow shooters that I found instructions for on Pinterest. OMGosh, they are AWESOME! Our family was "playing" with them yesterday and we were all cracking up like crazy.
