  1. Another rental here that is cheap flat white paint EVERYWHERE. No primer, so in the light you can see some of the previous color through it, and it's cheap which means it peels off when I try to wash the walls. :glare: But YEA! We're moving in 6 weeks (we've been here 5 years) to rent a house from my in-laws which means if I want can paint the walls COLORS!
  2. We like it over here. Here's the links to my blog posts about lessons 1-40 to see the sort of things you can do with it.
  3. Awesome! Was the weather bad this week? Did you get snow at all this winter? We're in California right now which means the snowflake symbol for winter is more of an abstract idea to teach the kids rather than a reality. Are the drivers better than California drivers have a reputation for being (and are)? Are there enough homeschoolers that you don't get weird looks when your kids are out during school time? Is visiting Boise worth the drive from Caldwell/Meridian? Will my neighbors come over to meet me, or will it take them a year to learn our name? Does it get super hot in the summer time? And do you know of a good ob/gyn that deals with high-risk pregnancies? :willy_nilly: :001_smile:

From what I've heard/read, a false positive is MUCH less likely than a false negative. So if there's even just a barley-there positive line, that usually means positive. But I don't know how Mirena works.
  5. At my mother's prison there is a chapel library with shelves of Christian fiction authors; Frank Perretti, Janette Oke, Francine Rivers, and Linda Chaikin are well represented and my mother really likes the female authors. Check to see if there is one at your sister's residence.
  6. I am so relieved, I think I'm going to be sick. (Okay, probably sounds like an over-reaction, but I've been crying over here all morning since I found out about the 5-HTP and Melatonin. I hate thinking that I've been hurting my baby these past weeks, and I thought I was looking at 8 months of no sleep.)
  7. Various articles online. I think Valerian was also on the "no" list. :( I haven't tried camomile before.
  8. Background: I just became pregnant (5.5 weeks.) I am currently getting off Seroquel, Lamictal, and Ambien (my last scaled-down dose it tonight.) I started taking 5-HTP (heard about it on here) and Melatonin to replace them and to help get off the Ambien without a return of the insomnia. But I just found out that both 5-HTP and Melatonin should not be taken during pregnancy. I've been taking Melatonin for a week now, and the 5-HTP for 3 weeks or so. Oh, and I have anxiety issues, including anxiety about not sleeping or falling asleep fast enough, which feeds back on itself. Yeah, I'm a mess. :( I don't have an ob/gyn to ask because I need a new one and we just found out that we will be moving in 2 months, which is about the earliest the new ob I wanted to start seeing here would see me. :banghead: Please Hive, what can I do? Is there anything safe to take? You all are my go to source for natural remedies. I'm getting anointed on Sunday, but I admit my faith is flagging a bit.
  9. (Since the wedding is over) To quote Dwight Schrute: Every day is black tie optional. :D
  10. Any WTMinders there? Looks like we'll be moving there in two months and we've never been to the area before. :driving:
  11. I love this site. It shows a beautiful picture and then picks colors out of it for design schemes.
  12. Thank you for all the responses. I think dh will really appreciate it, too. :)
  13. Ds6 (just turned 6 in November) does a page in the Zaner-Bloser handwriting book (1st grade level) a day for two days, then on the third day does a "draw and write," writing 3 short or 2 long sentences. When we finish the book we'll start WWE.
  14. What I remember is anything you add to your cart (but not to your wishlist) for the next 24 hours after you click through an affiliate link that is purchased within 90 days gives a percentage (excluding a few categories of items, but I don't remember what they are.) Both my blog and jenbrdlsy's blog have affiliate links. Both blog links are in my signature.
  15. ...if a near relative (think cousin or closer) gave their baby the same name as your kid? I know it's different for each family. It came up because dh and I are expecting and we've run up against a problem. It's important to us that the name for our baby is from the Bible. But I come from a very big family and over half their names are from the Bible. Every name my husband liked, I have a brother, cousin or cousin's child with that name. I think that we shouldn't "steal" a name from a family member, dh doesn't think it matters. (But he comes from a family of 5 other people besides the kids and me.) What says the Hive?
  16. Yup, that's weird. I'm surprised that all the other guests thought it was normal?
  17. This is so funny because dh and I not an hour ago were going down the list of Biblical names seeing what we liked and every single name dh liked I said "sorry, I have a cousin with that name." Not repeating a name is important to me, although dh doesn't seem to care.
  18. Don't compare your kid to other kids. This is generally good advice, but I think it's extra important for very early learners. I really wish my husband would stop doing it. It it very freeing for me to know that comparing a 3.5 year old reading at a 2nd grade level to any other kid, 3 year olds or 2nd graders, or anyone in between, is pointless.
  19. I read sometime in January. I cannot imagine returning either. Imagine the possible PTSD for those kids! But they can't leave the whole building closed for the next few years, right?
  20. Bumping again. If you read this and decide to do it would you please post on here so we can keep this high enough that other people will see it? I really think this is something worthwhile.
