Elizabeth86
For the other 3 I had a not great cover. I'm looking for something that covers my muffin top when my shirt is up because that is just kind of obscene
freesia
Aww, I'm sure it's fine. I hope no one is making you feel badly. I preferred using a receiving blanket kind of around (but not over) the baby and tucked around my body if I needed to. That was super easy to adjust to cover depending on what kind of shirt I had on. Some people buy tanks that either have nursing slits or just cut holes and that keeps the whole belly covered (with another shirt over, so when you lift the shirt, the tank still covers your bottom torso). If I had a winter baby in the climate I am in now, I might have tried that.

I always just feel self conscious about my back and or hips hanging out.
TheReader
I used a camisole under my shirts while nursing to keep my belly covered. A regular one worked fine for me and I'd just pull it down from the top to move it out of the way, but a nursing one or slits cut into a regular one would work as well. Other than that, I usually was wearing a maya wrap & wearing baby, so just used that as the cover. But, I am very under-endowed so this was not ever a huge issue for me.
ealp2009
Have you tried a nursing tank? I love them. I was always much more concerned about people seeing my tummy than a glimpse of my nipple ;). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest
I also use nursing tanks. That’s all I wear, actually. That makes it much easier to keep covered. It helps that I am always cold and the extra layer is wonderful.

medawyn
Yup, tank top under shirts here, even in the summer. Shirt up, tank top down (or nursing top unclipped), baby on b00b. I'm with a PP; I don't mind people getting a glimpse of nipple, but hips or stretch marks, otoh. Also, for me, I can't ever make a nursing cover discreet. There's too much peeking and lifting and positioning, and then when I get the darn thing over both of us, I have to fly across the playground to keep one of my kids from throwing sand, and then everything's flapping in the breeze anyway.
Ailaena
Sometimes, I wore shirts that I would unbutton a bit, sometimes I draped a receiving blanket over baby and kind of tucked it around my bits I didn’t want showing, but mostly I used a tank because I’m lazy and couldn’t even figure out how to make a cover work :p
busymama7
I buy cheap tank tops, usually whatever is on clearance for $3.99 at Old Navy, and cut two vertical slits. I wear one under whatever shirt I want to wear that day. Easy, cheap, and works really well. No clips or anything to deal with. How do the slits not show through the other top? Elizabeth86
Ugh I hate layers of clothing, but I might consider a tank top underneath.

Melissa in Australia
I used button tops, I opened up the top buttons to feed the baby, my tummy was covered at all times.

I have to have another kid just so I can use it longer, lol. That is so cool. I have a history of babies who flail around and pull covers to the side. This is the most flail-proof thing I've seen! OP, tank tops are pretty awesome too. I'm not really into layering, either, but I like them for nursing. Another option is to go from the top. I tend to wear v-necks and/or wrap style clothing, and just pop those ladies out when they're needed. No belly exposed at all. A tank underneath or a cute scarf in front can help if the V is too low for your comfort level.

If my dh can display his floppy moobs all summer at the beach, no one had better say a thing to me for having one out for ten minutes at Starbucks or whatever. And I carry a card with MN's breastfeeding law on it in my diaper bag just in case anyone ever tries.
Stibalfamily
I use a nursing apron with boning in it. You can make them, there are tutorials online. If you bought one I used this one. https://www.amazon.com/Bebe-Lait-Premium-Cotton-Nursing/dp/B00GXDFPNU/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1513439514&sr=8-1&keywords=baby%2Bau%2Blait&th=
maize
I wear maxi skirts 90% of the time. One reason I love them is that I can pull them up to cover my belly when I nurse.
Rosika
With my first five kids I just did the tank top or scoop top thing that others have already posted about. I was never coordinated enough to figure out how to nurse through traditional nursing shirts. My boobs never lined up with the slits, and my kids were always too impatient for me to learn how to use nursing shirts with any ease. But when I had my 6th last year, I received this as a baby gift. I loved it so freaking much that I bought more. It lets me wear any bra and any shirt. I can see myself wearing this even when our nursing days are done, because it's a great layering top. It looks like they're getting rid of them at the store I purchased from (only 4xl and 5xl are left?) But maybe you can find them somewhere else. For $10, it may be worth buying one and shrinking it as much as you can. LOL
Carol in Cal.
I'm so sorry that Motherwear went out of business. I had the best nursing dresses from there--no buttons on the slits, easy but nonobvious access, no midriff exposure. Great designs.
carriede
I got some really cheap wife-beater tank tops and cut the arm pit longer, so when I nurse, I pull that opening over my breast and everything else is covered. Of course, that cut tank top doesn't look very nice under thin clothes, so I also have two of these that snap into your bra: https://undercovermama.com/products/uc-mama-tank Edited December 17, 2017 by carriede
ktgrok
If you are just covering your belly, how about using a maternity type belly band? Like this? You were it under your shirt, and over the top of your pants. Smooths out the lumpy post partum belly and covers it when you lift your shirt. Easier than messing with another layer of tank top or whatever.
