Do you all have a "map in your head" of where your fellow ITTer are located? When I think of Ellie and Tex, they are in Texas, of course, on a flat map with different colors for the states. Texas is pink. Sometimes Ellie sneaks over to Hawaii. Lynn is Northeast of me, but for some reason my brain puts Slache down in Louisianna. I know it's wrong, and I have to move her back West. Renai is often in Washington with Jean and sometimes in

Canada (?!?) but I know that is also wrong and have to slide her South. Is there anyone here in Canada? I don't know where that comes from.

Clearly I am suffering from fever-induced delirium. Carry on.

This is awesome.

Do you have a fever again?  Go to bed!

Map!  Yes!  Just last night.  And I often have Ellie in California (because she used to be there), and I have to move her over.  Ducklings is northeast/New England?  maybe?  Dawn is north west of me by a little bit?  JoJosMom is in a frozen tundra of some kind but I don't know if it's east or west, US or Canada.  For as long as she's been doing frozen poop aerobics, I'm suspecting it's not US.

How fun!  I think of JJM as in Canada, but I don't know if this is right.

Oh and Tex, I just saw this:

That is terrible, but it is less terrible because I imagined initially that the AoPS classes themselves are full and I thought I would have to drive myself off a cliff ala Thelma and Louise.

We've had a few quiet hours here, and I hope we are past the worst of things with dd and the :ack2: .

So, in sum, we're wrapping up Ellie as a Christmas present to Slache, watching the new Star Wars movie with Mark as Chewie, and then going out for drinks? I'm game for that.

How is your little one doing?

My morning has been somewhat fruitless - I was supposed to do science/lab with the youngers and then have them practice Christmas music. Instead I came home from the orthodontist to find some of my kids making clay pots and the others setting up a train track and looking for batteries. Guess who has taken the day off of work and doesn't realize that if you let the kids start on projects that "should only take 15 minutes", by the time they are done and have been called back 4 times to finish cleaning up their mess, the morning will be gone.

I am cranky and need lunch and more coffee.

Susan, just leave me in Louisiana. I'm good.

Professormom, you know to unsubscribe, right? Many people are unfamiliar with the concept.

True. But, I only unsubscribe to known sources. I am talking about the Viagra, foreign language, fake Amazon prime spam. I can't imagine that they actually honor unsubscribe because I never subscribed to begin with, lol. Besides, I am not willing to click any of their links to get there.

I actually have to get ahold of my email provider because the level of spam in the last 6-9 months has gotten out of control. When I am on my laptop, but junk catcher helps a lot. I just need to stop procrastinating and get er done:-)

What is terrible? I thought you would be happy that they are going to keep offering classes. I am really reading things weird today. Maybe Susan's fever is an online contagion  Or, I am just being a ditz. Or I have ingested too many migraine pills. Hmm.

We are several days in to an on/off  :ack2:  bug.  It's either a random viral bug (or a series of them) or there's something else going on. At first we thought it was extreme motion sickness (like another kid of mine has) or hypoglycemia (which we also struggle with)....but there seems to be a viral component now that baby girl has spiked a fever.  It's just been weird that in a family of our size, no one else has gotten it.  We are good hand washers, etc. but I have kids who touch their face and are otherwise likely to infect themselves.  Keep your fingers crossed that this ends here. I don't want to spend Christmas playing pass the puke bowl around the Christmas tree, iykwim.

:) Isn't Renai in the Midwest?

Jean is not quite in Canada.

I am in Washington.

Entitlement is when someone doesn't want to work, but thinks they deserve a house anyway. You're describing the American dream. :)

Seriously that's what I though. I am increasingly seeing sneers at my desire to make the American Dream happen though. Well I don't give up that easily.

Providing we do get over this..... I need to plan a campfire meal for the beach. Any ideas? Sandy beach, decent wind, temps in the 70s....

Hobo meals would work well if they will have enough time to cook - sealed in foil to keep out sand. Hot dogs are quick and easy and classic. I have never cooked on a beach so I don't know how much sand might blow into the food. Maybe no one will care. Because beach. And campfire. :)

I am now organizing my dining room table in piles. Whether I will actually do anything with the piles has yet to be seen.

I am finally reading KonMari.

In her section on papers, she has one simple rule:  THROW IT ALL OUT!

She didn't specifically mention paying the bills first, so I'm thinking skip that part???

It was terrible because I thought it was AoPS saying all classes were full and enrolling him in a spring class was my Obi Wan Kenobi so I was all panicky, .

Ah, that's right. I am having problems today. It took me about 3 tries before I figured out that Slache was talking about the spam, lol.

I am just so happy WTMA is going ahead with the sequence next year. That is my Hail Mary for math.

Professormom, what's your email? I have Gmail and I don't have that. Our church has Hotmail and they get a ton.

Tsuga, good for you!

It's actually through my own site (now defunct blog that I have zero time to keep up with but can't let go of the dream :crying: )

I just need to get ahold of the host. They can't fix what isn't broken, but I hate dealing with customer service. Apparently less than I hate deal with spam.

I have gmail and an outlook account, so I have to just make a stupid decision. :-)

Finished this morning with about 20 minutes to spare. It needs some repair after the party and there's some refining to do, but overall I'm pretty pleased.

Here's Chewy with two weirdos I've totally never met before in my life:

Ds8 says AWESOME.   And HEY! THAT GIVES ME AN IDEA!!!!!

He now want to a make his own, really really really tall Darth Maul costume.  For which you owe me, MarkW, because it will undoubtedly cost me several hundred dollars in duct tape and unrolled rolls of paper towel.

Morning all.

Last week before break. I am giving the kids their week plans and telling them that whenever they are done for the week, they are done. So if they finish the work by Wed, they get Thurs and Fri off. That should motivate them.

Then, I need to get busy and get all of my Christms stuff done this week, so I can have at least a few days of break myself before la familia descends. I really have to get better about guarding part of the holiday breaks for my sanity. Really.

Woke up with a migraine, so I am off to self-medicate. Hopefully, I won't be posting quite so much today. Y'all are probably sick of me after yesterday, lol.

i wish I was done.

Every math plan feels like a Hail Mary to me. I will stick little dd in Jann in TX's class at the earliest possible opportunity, thus pre-A.

 I just sent a friend over to check out Jann's classes. She is lovely.

I teach through pre-a, then they are outta here. I have been surprised how much Algebra has come back to me as I have helped ds here and there, but I am not relying on that to get them through higher math. It would not be pretty. And that is stupid. Because I rocked math all the way through ap calc in high school and higher maths in undergrad. Grad school statistics killed me for some reason. That poor prof. Here I was, a pathetic young woman who had never gotten less than an A in math, hobbling along. I talked to her so many times, I think she probably kept whiskey in her desk just for dealing with me.

No idea what was up with that. But I still have no desire to revisit math learning in my old age

If it's really important they will have someone call you... Repeatedly... In a condescending voice. ;)

Stats and economics are only half math. The other half is assumptions to memorize.

I have implemented her binder idea. I have 5 sections.

1. Ongoing projects (workout schedules, Bible reading plans, etc.)

2. Monthly rotation (bills, checkbook)

3. Occasional (resumes, leases, loans)

4. Taxes (dun dun dun)

5. Forever (marriage, birth, SSC)

When I ask Matt to put something in my binder he slips it in the front so I can file it mom's way. There's a clear pocket in the front for cupins and receipts. You're going to be pretty important if I'm going to keep your receipt though.

:)

My family has learned to quietly look away when I start giggling and mumbling about pants or the letter H. :D

DH rolls his eyes, but he did spend half an hour at a huge party Saturday night trying to get a pic of a guy in a kilt for Tex.

I think he's being sucked in.

And he got the pic.   :D

So, when I was little, we sometimes watched "The Dick Van Dyke Show." I didn't remember how good it was and so have been pleasantly surprised now that I'm watching it on NetFlix. :-)

There was a show that had a catchy song about Alan Brady, the character in the show for whom Dick and Sally and Whatshisname worked. I have remembered that song forever. So, yesterday when I came home from church, I sat down in front of the TV to veg while waiting for Mr. Ellie to be finished with his church, and when I turned on the TV it was already on CoziTV, which shows only old TV shows and movies. Guess what was on? Yes.

KonMari :thumbup1: I got rid of about 10,000 lbs of stuff last year!

My family went out of town and Matt said I could do whatever I wanted. I tossed 17 bags and sent 3 boxes to goodwill. Nobody has noticed anything is gone and everyone thinks the house looks nicer. I couldn't believe how much I was able to get rid of and people already had been calling me a minimalist.

I got bored with school and spent the better part of an hour putting my main character, the antagonist and two supporting characters through short personality tests. I now know why the main character feels like (and sometimes does) blow up doors around the antagonist, and the antagonist secretly plots to ship the main character away from the story in a fireproof box. So apparently I selected appropriately for conflict, now I just need to find some means for resolution.

It's a good thing the house cats are supervising the education of the children. The kitten is making sure one reads history, the old cat is making sure that the other boy does his geography.

Well, it turns out y'all were like zero help with the whole Hamlet thing, but I managed to schedule a proper study of Hamlet in spite of being left to my own devices.  However, now I have to cram the stuff that had been on those days onto other days.

My Contribution:

You're welcome.

Yup, exactly one half of a paper towel roll is already used up.

And the better part of my used-to-be-sharp black Sharpie marker ink reservoir.
