My dd had a crush when she was 7 and halfway through grade 1. She suddenly took a liking to a cute little boy that also goes to her church. She has since moved on to a boy a little older then her because he notices her and spends time showing her cute origami stuff. That and she loves his curls.

ETA: I didn't have a crush on anyone until I was 14 and I heard a boy singing. He had a GORGEOUS voice. I never did anything about it though. I was never really into boys as a kid. I thought they looked weird and acted strange.

At sixteen she had a mild, very mild crush. Nothing she even felt like acting on at the time. At 19 she dated a 22 year old newly graduated school teacher who seemed nice at the time, but who came on WAY too strong and moved towards a marriage proposal much too quickly despite the fact that she gave very overt signals that he was moving too fast. She REALLY liked him, was definitely emotionally attached, but he pushed and lost.

The third boy was the charm, and he is my son-in-law. They began dating when she was 21.

DD was never very boy crazy or boy oriented even as a teenager which made her quite easy to raise.

Around 5 or so my Dd informed her best friend who's a boy, that she was going to marry him.  He shrugged and said okay.  Neither of them have ever been goggly eyed or romantically obsessed with the other, they just matter-of-factly decided that that's what was going to happen and as far as I know, it's still the plan 4 years later.   It's really sort of funny actually.

How do you define crush?

I don't have a daughter, but I had a crush on Frasier, the boy in my class when I lived in England at 6 years old. After that, I always had a crush on someone. Usually I would find a boy I just adored and would love him for years. I never told any of my crushes, though, because I was a very shy kid and later an outcast.

Back from England I loved David in 2nd-4th grade. Then switched schools halfway through the year and I loved Earl in 4th. Then switched schools again and loved Tony from 5th - 7th. I switched schools again (!) and I loved the same boy from 8th-12th grade very faithfully (Joe). Of course, they each never once looked in my direction. Le sigh.

I had an actual boyfriend at 16, but we were a bad fit. His mother wanted him to have a date for the prom, so she pushed us together (we went to church together.) Even though we were a bad fit, it was so nice to feel loved and I grew very attached to him. After the prom, his mother refused to let him see me anymore. I was only ever an escort in her eyes. I was heartbroken. He was, too, but he was only 17 and obeyed his mom. Neither of us were bad people. Well, she was bad. She was very strange and the pastor had to finally ask her to leave the church because she wouldn't stop with vicious gossip. It was all very sad.

I have three daughters.  The first one loved boys from birth.  It is just part of who she is.  Her first crush (that she still remembers and talks about at age 17, btw) was at age 4. There have been many in the years in between.  She's almost grown and doesn't date, so her fondness for the male population hasn't led to crazy serial boyfriends or anything..lol.

My other two are 14 and still haven't had a crush.  They just haven't really been interested.

My oldest was 3 when she had her first crush on a boy at church. She liked the same boy for the next 5 years never once wavering in her devotion. Now she says that she no longer likes him, but she was completely head over heels for him. They were going to get married, have kids....the whole shebang! She's my true romantic though.
