unsinkable
I'd to do a little project but I need some inspiration. What's new, hot, trendy, easy?
Cinder
What are you looking for? Something to use/wear now or for later? I'm am far from trendy but I think shawls/shawlettes are still popular. I've heard a lot about the Color Affection Shawl. It's a bit of a commitment, though. This Nori Shawl looks cool and not too complex, of course you'd still have to pay attention. lol I've just been knitting cotton dishcloths. :D
redsquirrel
Yoga socks. They are like fingerless gloves for your feet. I made my first pair and they were super cute. However, if you don't like knitting socks you might not like this. I am now very clear that I don't like knitting with teensy needles and sock yarn. But, if you like it, then you should give yoga socks a try.

Give me fingerling weight yarn any day! Over the weekend I purchased the materials to make the beaded embellished cuffs gracing the cover of a recent Piecework magazine. I have not combined beadwork with knitting. This simple project looks like a good way to test the waters.

Arcadia
My boys asked for knitted golf club covers for their clubs. I haven't tried yet as I have not found an easy enough instruction.

Give me fingerling weight yarn any day! I'm with you on small needles. Right now I'm knitting a bulky hat on US10! It's hurting my hands. I also have a sock cast on and it feels so comfy after the hat. Like a rest for my hands.
Splash
My friend writes knitting books and they are very cute. Since I don't knit I'm not sure how difficult or how long it would take but you might enjoy them. Her first book is called Phoebe's sweater. Her newest project is Green Gables knits. mumto2
If you like knitting stuffed toys Alan Dart has some fun ones at his website. He also has one published in the Simply Knitting magazine each month. I think I saw them for sale in the US too. Dd has made many of his patterns and they seem to be quite good accuracy wise. His different mice and hamsters are so cute. Yes, I know I should be linking. I can't!

I haven't made Hitchhiker, but I did make the Twisted Edge Shawlette, which is similar. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/twisted-edge-shawlette It was easy (after several rows...once I "knew" the pattern somewhat) , but not boring. Miss Tick
I like small projects that travel easily to waiting rooms, swim practice, gymnastics, story time, etc. In between socks I've been working on a little beaded purse called the Tosh Purse from Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders. Unsurprisingly, it is going to take me two skeins, but I was prepared for that. I just checked out Teeny-Tiny Mochimochi from the library. Most of the projects are 1" long. Of course, I'll have to get some more yarn...
Cinder
I made a bunny nugget for dd. It was quick and easy. The hardest part was stitching on the nose--mine kept coming out wonky. Do it in a self-striping yarn for extra fun. Hitchhiker is one of those patterns that I keep adding then deleting from my queue. I dunno, maybe someday? I think it's the teeth--blocking them out--that keeps scaring me off. ETA: Another really quick and easy toy: Owl Puff
Jane in NC
The shawlettes remind me of this pattern from Ravelry The Age of Brass and Steam kerchief I made this a year ago--easy peasy. Photo from the site.

I can't! I used one of his patterns for Christmas last year. I changed it up a bit -- for example, I used icord for the feet. It was really cute and quick. http://www.alandart.co.uk/product/all-patterns/furry-fairiesfree/ My next project will be a 221B hat http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEw12/PATT221b.php I'm pondering a scarf with various motifs from the show. Other than that, I'd ponder something Mochimochi http://mochimochiland.com/gallery-2/ -- maybe make a boatload of tiny Santas or snowmen. Mommy22alyns
I want to make this again after wasting my first one on my mom (long story, not going there): http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html I just have to find the right yarn without spending $100 on it. If anyone wants to give suggestions, I'm listening!
GailV
Ooooooh, sometimes I think about making another clapotis. I made my first one from a solid color yarn that was part silk -- I think it was a close out from Webs years ago. The texture was great for dropping all of the stitches. So that's all I've got for you -- look for the close outs, and don't limit yourself to a multicolored yarn since it's very nice as a solid. Cinder
I just have to find the right yarn without spending $100 on it. If anyone wants to give suggestions, I'm listening! Perhaps KnitPicks Swish Tonal? Looks like it would be around $60 total. Or Berroco Vintage? I haven't used this yarn but you can check reviews on Ravelry. Check WEBS for sales. If you prefer an acrylic yarn the Deborah Norville line and Red Heart Soft have some nice variegated colorways for a low cost. And the yarn is pretty soft too. MomOfOneFunOne
AMDG I don't knit so I don't know if they're quick and easy and, well, they're probably not trendy but if I could knit, I'd make these: http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/2008/07/fruit-cozies.html

Desert Strawberry
I made too many infinity scarves last fall. I couldn't stop. I hope that trend stays around for a while.
