Halcyon
I am so tired of it. Really. Every night my kids bicker when they are sent to brush teeth, wash face etc before bed. I dont know why. But it is every nighth. Older says something obnoxious, younger over reacts, screams, older yells back that he is being dramatic, younger storms into room. They should be able to brush their teeth withtout getting into a fight!! Ugh. Do i really need to stand there and watch over them like a prison guard? Vent over. Alte Veste Academy
Oh my word. Mine too. And we moved this year from a house with one sink in their bathroom to a house with 2 sinks. So really, what the what?!?!? We now send them in one at a time. Really pathetic but at least it is more peaceful.
merry gardens
Well, at least they brush their teeth. :D
Mrs Mungo
Our bedtimes are staggered. Each one is brushing teeth, etc on their own.

LaxMom
Count mine in, too. Plus the ever-so-clever returning about 40 seconds after they go into the bathroom, claiming teeth have been brushed. As if we a) can't hear them fighting all the way there and back and B) don't check. Every.single.time. Honestly, I sometimes ask them if they're new here. It does boggle the mind. besroma
Every night here, too (and two sinks!). If we are not close by to monitor, we send them in separately.
Desert Rat
Do i really need to stand there and watch over them like a prison guard? Yes. Yes, you do. At least we do. Ours don't fight, they rough house. With sticks in their mouths. Awesome. Drives me nuts. We usually send ours off at different times or different bathrooms. tagglelim
I can't tell you how much better these posts make me feel! I thought we were the only ones! EVERY night our two girls enter into a rough-housing Battle Royale while brushing teeth. I thought we were the only ones that had to separate them in this! And then, of course, they're upset over who went "first" last time. :cursing:
ErinE
No help, but a little glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem.
violamama
Ours threaten to pee on each other from time to time. Bleh. We did get toothbrushes that blink for 60 seconds and we turn off the light while they do it. 60 seconds of "peace" but we have to be right in there at all times. Kids are dorky. sbgrace
I'm another voice relieved to see my boys aren't the only kids like this! Whew. My husband kept telling me it was normal kid stuff. I must have blanked on it in my childhood.
Julie Smith
I still brush teeth for one boy. He lies down when I do all the work. Sort of a mini dentist visit. He had teeth problems when younger. I sort of look forward to them just doing it. Oh and I have to floss the teeth of the other boy. But they are at least happily willing. momto10blessings
If my kids were doing that, I would make only allow one at a time. Others wait in the hall in a line, quietly. Once they can behave they will be allowed to brush together again
Lizzie in Ma
Yeah, they should but they won't. When our kids were at that bickering stage they just weren't allowed to go together. This too shall pass. :grouphug: :grouphug:
jrn
My girls do it too. Drives me crazy.
Tess in the Burbs
Same here and honestly, my sister and I fought while brushing teeth growing up. It's just normal. Mine are no longer allowed to brush together. One at a time. And no standing outside the door being annoying LOL!

So really, what the what?!?!? We now send them in one at a time. Really pathetic but at least it is more peaceful. I know. Same here- I thought when we moved to a house w/ 2 sinks, this lovely nightly ritual would resolve itself. :confused1: Some nights, when I'm feeling snippy, its a 'silence-no-one-says-a-word-or-makes-a-sound' kind of deal... mermo
Oh yes, we have that lovely issue here as well. Drives me batty. (7 year old DS, 5 year old b/g twins)
Pamela H in Texas
In our home, no two children are allowed in the bathroom at one time (bedrooms either except for sleep). Can't fight if you're not allowed in the room (or even in the doorway). It never crossed my mind that we had this nice side effect of our rules. YAY! Granted, it does take us longer to get through routines (well, having so many kids makes that the case anyway).
Mommy22alyns
I feel your pain. Mine are the opposite, but no better at brushing teeth. They get in there together and it's thumps and squeals. They're like the Two Stooges. And completely incapable of getting things done.
unsinkable
I agree with the one at a time in the bathroom rule. I'd also come up with a routine for the non brusher. Like a little chore or reading the comics or something to keep the non-brusher occupied.
