RedHen6
I would also vote for Nancy Reagan, I think. In my mind, she was one of the first First Ladies who took an active roll in doing things other than planning banquets! I admire that in her. --Korrie

And, by the way, in the new code of laws which I suppose it will be necessary for you to make, I desire you would remember the ladies and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors. "Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the husbands. "Remember, all men would be tyrants if they could. If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation." Her correspondence also shows how she lobbied against slavery. Quite a grand old gal. Jane

Sue G in PA
Abigail Adams, Laura Bush and Jackie O. Wanna hear a neat story about Jackie O? My aunt, when she was young, attended a pretty ritzy boarding school in Canada. There was a girl there, whom she became good friends with named Jackie Bouvier (I know I'm spelling that wrong!). Well, Jackie didn't spend too long in the school but when she left, she gave my Aunt this beautiful gold cross necklace. My Aunt still wears it to this day. Wanna guess who Jackie Bouvier is? Jackie O! How cool, huh?
