  1. We homeschooled for 2 years a few years back, we were registered under Homelife. I've just never pulled kids from school and this is their first time in public school.
  2. Cindy thanks so much for that! I am also working part-time right now but this business looks to be going out of business in the next few months. My boys are 6th grade and 2nd grade and are doing fine in school they were both honor roll for this last 9 weeks. Your prayers are much appreciated, I get to go to a Ladies retreat with a friend this afternoon through Saturday so I'm looking for clarification and refreshment. This year has been horrible but I'm thankful we are all together.
  3. I have not been on here for a long time. We put our kids in Christian school which was wonderful but then health problems with my husband and loss of his job led us to the loss of our home. We are now staying with my parents and I'm not sure we can stay there until the end of the school year. My kids are in their local school. What are my options as far as pulling my kids from the public school and homeschooling them when school is out May 27th? We have another place we can go until we are back on our feet. BTW the issues with my parents are my mom fearing for her safety but then sweeping it under the rug. Appreciate any comments or suggestions.
  4. My 4th grader has really enjoyed The Time Warp Trio Series by Jon Scieszka, you can check them out here.
  5. Lee, I don't have an "official" unit study for Japan. Actually I should've worded it as an interest led study. I checked out as many books as I could on japan and we've been going through them, folding origami and I also got a book on haiku so we can work on that. I know it's no help but I don't have enough talent to put together a unit study others could use! :) Have a great weekend!!

  6. Sounds like an awesome trip! You were there during free dining and no big waits?! That's great! I did hear of people walking into LeCellier (in Canada at Epcot) and getting a table (even with free dining) so crowds were obviously low. 130 days until our trip and I can't wait! As for your special treatment at TOT, sounds like you got lots of pixie dust sprinkled your way. I guess I'll actually have to try and ride it this time. :)
  7. Hey Girlie!! What happens I'm away from the boards for a week or so and no rep? That will teach me to stay away long from these boards. :)

  8. Hey girl!! When I get to Savannah one day I'm looking you up (and we're going to Paula Dean's place for lunch!).

  9. I've been M.I.A. for a week or so and missed all of this, although it was nice to get 2 friend requests (I had no idea why I was getting them). Does anyone have a link to the original announcement or thread?
  10. Of course I disappear for a week (to frequent my disney information boards) and there is no more rep? I am so out of the loop (and a little bummed since I just made it to 2 rep squares).
  11. From Forrest Gump: "Dear God make me a bird so I can fly far...far, far away". 'Nuff said!
  12. Apparently though the interview was "heavily" edited to the point of making her look that way. Geraldo who is far from conservative said if you watch the interview uncut you could see she had more than one answer for the questions he asked. Geraldo felt that Charlie was under a lot of pressure from the liberal leaning to sock it to her. Also what was with his eyeglasses on the edge of his nose? It looked way more like an interrogation and she had done something horribly wrong to end up in front of him.
  13. Can I join in?! I just started exercising this week. I really don't like working out or sweating because of how tired I always am in general. They say the more you workout the more energy you get but man it's hard. Anyway I've started doing Hip Hop Abs. It's entertaining to watch as well as do and I've done it 3 times this week so far. I'm shooting for 5 days a week. I've been getting up at 6am to do this and hope I can stick with it because I'm done with flabby! :)
  14. The first few times I thought my eyes were messing with me!! I could do without that special effect.:D
  15. Girlfriend you are welcome to come and TAKE some of my tomatoes. We planted roma and cherry and they have taken over our garden. It was our most successful plant besides the jalepenos, banana peppers and relleno chili's. Come on over!
  16. I LOVED it!! I love that kind of sci-fi type of show anyway plus Joshua Jackson is on it so I'm sold. I'm with LNC any show with Pacey as the main character rocks! I'm setting my tivo...
  17. Melissa I noticed you were gone but figured you (like me) just need to regroup sometimes. I get funky sometimes and just withdraw from things in general, so I figured thats what you were doing. :)
  18. I'm involved with a support group that offers field trips, 4-H and lots of contests the kids can participate in as they get older like Science Olympiad etc. We do have a mom's meeting once a month to discuss things and also a lending library of curriculum we can check out. My 9yo is taking a class once a week at an informal co-op that is on Thursday. This month he's in a boy's skill class, next month music theory. The great thing is the cost is low and you can sign up for a class each month or just pick and choose. It's working good for us.
  19. I just picked up Seabiscuit: An American Legend from the library yesterday. I'm on a horse kick. :)
  20. I just got 3 pairs of these at Penney's this weekend and I LOVE them. They are cute and comfy! I'll be going back for more.
  21. You're going back to Disney?!! Seems like you were just there and I'm jealous!! It's been 7 months and it feels like forever, have fun!
  22. Wow! Even Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer said McCain's speech had a lot more substance than Obama's acceptance.
  23. Did you feel the same about Obama doing a family interview (including his kids) on Access Hollywood? If we're going to be appalled it should be all around and not just because you don't agree with the candidates policy views. Here's a link to the Access interview. Like others said I think it shows the candidates as human beings and it's the networks that choose the camera shots, so if Palin's kids seemed to be all over the screen last night that was the networks call. It would be weird to me if they weren't there and you didn't see them.
  24. I have to say what substance does Obama have in his speeches? It's all "hope" and "change" without a lot of real substance, I've watched his speeches and it's never very deep. This was an intro to the Republican party so I didn't really expect major policy talk. Although I think if he (Obama) dosen't win the election he'll have a real future in motivational speaking, move over Tony Robbins.;)
