  1. Our boy cat has been "hunting" recently. He got in the cabinet under our sink and "caught" an SOS pad. He proudly brought it under the Christmas tree. He also catches the stuffed gingerbread man ornaments off our tree and carries them under the dining room table. Our girl cat thinks she is my middle son's dog. She follows him like a puppy. she comes to him when he whistles, she evens kicks her back leg when he pets her.
  2. Yikes! I have quite a few item coming from them. Both Christmas presents and some baby gift for an expecting couple. The first shipment of my order came in alright. Let's hope that the rest does.
  3. We double dip as well. Milk, then seasoned flour. If we are just having regular fried chicken, the seasoning is salt, black pepper, and paprika. If we are having chicken sliders, it is garlic powder, onion salt, paprika, and a mix of black and red pepper. Hmm.. this is making me want fired chicken. I don't remember the last time we had it.
  4. My family loves fried chicken. I bought an electric skillet just to make fried chicken. That is what my grandmother always used, as well.
  5. The Walgreen's closest to my house is not so great. Pictures seem out of focus. Another one 15 minutes down the road is much better. My vote is try another store.
  6. Wow! You were good! That never occurred to me. I would always find out my Christmas presents. Sometimes it was through no fault of my own. (ex: I would be asked to put up laundry in a closet where my gifts were stashed. Other times, I did the open/reseal thing. I never felt guilty. That was part of the fun at our house. Seeing if a gift could be stashed well enough to be kept from me, but not so good my grandmother could not find it on Christmas. One year I found a whole bunch of doll accessories right before my birthday (November) When I did not get the stuff (or even a doll for the stuff) I was crushed. I thought my grandmother had bought it for my cousin. I was **elated** that Christmas to see all that stuff AND a BEAUTIFUL new dolly to go with it.
  7. Whaaaaaatttttt??? I had no idea we had them. Great. Now something to be afraid of.
  8. :bigear: I have the same problem with one of my work clients. I would love to get confirmation when people get emails to make sure that they are going where they need to.
  9. All the pictures I have seen of her, the neck looks too short. That would have bugged me as a kid. I don't think o would have wanted my doll to have zits, cellulite, or stretch marks. That seems odd. What kid wants that on their dolls?
  10. My guys used to use Old Spice but now they use Axe. My favorite scent is Dark Temptation, but the husband and sons prefer Excite.
  11. Very true. Baptist here, but so much of that applies.
  12. Our K Mart started displaying the trees in September, so we changed the lyrics slightly each time we went there: It's September, stores with plastic Christmas Trees....
  13. A station here has been playing Christmas c=since mid-October. I like it. My middle son says he wishes we would play any Christmas tunes until after his birthday (mid-November)
  14. That's what I thought, too.
  15. My grandfather called my oldest son Henry because he felt like Nathaniel was an old man name, not a child name. He called my middle son Alexander because Benjamin was also my grandmother's father name. Shocking, he always called Samuel by his actual name. Sometimes people are just weird. The kids even got to where they would sign cards to him as being from Henry and Alexander.
  16. I saw four signs today at the doctor with my sign. He even commented to the nurse that he was glad he didn't have ebola like those guys (clip art people depicting symptoms) We were asked upfront if he had any fever. We also had to fill out all symptoms on a piece of paper. which we have never had to do before.
  17. I go with my husband in th eexam room. It never occured to me not to go in with my kids. If they, or the doctor, ever asked me not to, I certainly would not. My husband likes for me to go in with him so I can ask questions that he might no think of and remember what the doctor said.
  18. We like sweet potaoes sliced, layered with chopped apples, pecans brown sugar and little bits of butter. We made charoset one year instead of cranberry sauce, but that did not go over too well with my in laws. They are a little weirded out by using real cranberrry sauce instead of the stuff that comes out of a can in one piece. For Christmas, the past few years we have only had appetizers. For breakfast, I'll do scones or quiche but everything else is just like ham and cheese sandwhices, sausage balls, veggie plate, cheese and crackers and sweets.
  19. There are lots of different types of blades, some easier to get cut with than others. My husband started out with one type that a few friends told him was great. He has very thick, coarse hair. The kind that most people say will slice will before you know what has happened (Feathers, in case you are wondering) are the ones that work best for him.
  20. My husband got fed up with expensive razors and started using old fashioned safety razors. After the initial expense of buying the razor and brush, he is sooo happy because the blades are super-duper cheap. I have even started using it on my legs. I love it because for the fist time ever, I have a close shave AND no razor burn.
  21. How funny! My middle son decided the first time we went to a Wal-Mart with a self checkout that he should work at at Wal-Mart. "Look how easy this is, Mom!"
  22. I think they should be welcome to worship in the church, but not lead it. We were once part of a church that had an all out scandal with the pastor. He came back several years later, to worship, but not lead. It was still hard. Feelings that had been terribly hurt were still very raw. People felt very uneasy around him. I think it might have been better if he had found a different place of worship.
  23. Praying for your son! My oldest went through that for months a couple of years ago. I will pray for you, as well. it is hard to see your child hurt and not be able to make it better or know what is causing it.
