  1. I feed my GP and my cur 2 eggs each every morning. I get approx. 12 - 14 eggs per day and supplement the dogs with a couple of eggs.
  2. The custom meat shop (slaughterhouse/butcher) we use for our beef and venison accepts food stamps. There are signs hanging inside the building stating it and their newspaper ads always mentions it.
  3. This is what I do. Get up at 5 and start breakfast so we can eat together before he leaves. We go to bed at the same time also.
  4. It is the Smith Driving Method used by many companies for safe driving and parking. Pipeline workers, coal mines, hazmat trucks, etc train their drivers and I believe it is OSHA mandated
  5. I'm still growing out a bad cut from the week before Thanksgiving and from your description we may have had the same stylist :). It is still so bad that as of now I plan on never having it cut again and going back to long French braids and messy buns.
  6. The hotdogs in a jar look like the pickled bologna that people love here in Kentucky. It is for sale in every grocery store. I don't care for it, but others like it sliced and served on a saltine cracker.
  7. Yes we use our GP in with our cattle. They protect our calves from coyotes. The scary thing about a GP is they do not bark or sound any alarm when they are chasing away a predator. They silently go from standstill to 50mph. If my GP is barking it usually at some other dog off in the distance. And they are big. Mine is taller than me when he stands on his hind legs (I'm 5'4") and he is approx. 125lbs.
  8. And I wouldn't hesitate to shoot any dog coming after my children or livestock. The problem you may have is that Great Pyr is roaming you will need to keep her contained if you are going to complain about others dogs. Great Pyrs love to roam and they are scary looking to others because of their size. Mine are always contained either in a fenced pasture or around our fenced yard.
  9. Hot wire. I live on 60 acres and have approx. 1 acre around my home in double stranded hot wire to keep my Great Pyr and Cur dog in and roaming dogs out. After being stung once most dogs greatly respect the wire. We keep our cow pasture in triple stranded (some barbed) hot wire to keep cows in and roaming dogs out. A solar charger will work nicely for the area around your home. Children will learn to never touch it..
  10. I agree. I've pretty much stopped going to get togethers anymore because people cannot stay off their smartphones.
  11. All of this plus: 1. Cannot have a conversation outside because they are attention hogs and will stand at your feet and "talk" over you. The louder you talk the louder they get. 2. When they are not squawking at your feet they will travel to your neighbors doorstep. I live in the middle of 60 acres my nearest neighbor is about 1 mile away and you can see NO ONE from my house. We couldn't keep them on our property. 3. Did I mention they are loud? And on my front porch peering in the screen door?
  12. Another clue as to tree type is the color of the bark, leaves and the veins in the leaves. It is uncanny how if you really look they will sometimes match what color the ripe fruit will be.
  13. Stark Bros. com has (or it did at one time) lots of info you can print off. You can also use Stark Bros. online as a guide to figure out what type of trees you have. They have really good descriptions. All of our trees have come from them. Can you ask the previous owners what varieties you have? That will determine when they fruit. You can identify by blossom color and when the fruit is ripe If you are in an area where the trees have not leafed out yet you will still have time to prune. Dh pruned here about 3 weeks ago. You prune in the late winter/early spring. We prune heavily for the trees too bear lots of fruit.
  14. Yes, yes and yes. I am so glad my last is finally out of braces. I lost my mind for years in the ortho's office with all the beeping handheld devices and people yelling into their cell phones. It was maddening. I have never considered it lazy parenting I just want to be able to walk thru the aisles or read my book in the waiting room without someone on an electronic device annoying me. FWIW I also hate Call Waiting.
  15. It is just not kids either. I used to get together with a group of ladies for coffee and chatting. I finally quit going because so many were too busy checking facebook, texting or browsing the internet on their phones. Or we were constantly interrupted by someone answering their phone having ho-hum, lame conversations with others about nothing.
  16. I read your thread earlier & was coming back to post this exact thought! Sadly I have learned that a lot of mean girl mentality and actions never goes away.
  17. We use huluPLUS nightly and do not normally have issues. Last night (approx. 10 pm est) we had buffering issues and finally gave up (on the tv thru the Wii). This is not a common problem and I bet hulu was having tech. problems last night.
  18. Low carb high fat. I started lchf to get my pre-diabetes under control. I do not do a plan (like Adkins), I don't count calories or carbs. I just cut out all sugars, wheat, grains, corn, potatoes, etc. I eat plenty of meat, low carb veggies, eggs, full fat dairy, 90% chocolate, olive & coconut oil, mayo. While I didn't do this to lose weight I have without worrying about it. I feel better than I have in years.
