I can completely relate. I put so much time, thought and effort into choosing gifts for others it's not even funny; meanwhile a certain someone grabs whatever at the very last minute. He will ask what I want, and I feel like he doesn't even know me! If he just took the time to notice the things that I wear, he wouldn't even need to spend much to come up with something thoughtful. I bought extra at Bath and Body Works for last minute gifts to have on hand but I think I will keep a few for myself. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I would tip 15-20% as usual. I would only tip more than that if I had a regular stylist that I knew well/loved. I'm still bitter about my recent outrageous bill, twice what I normally pay in this area, including in that same salon....she only got a 15% tip. PSA: ask how much each and every individual service/product costs ahead of time.

Ideas for toning down war play for play date
magnificent_baby replied to bookbard's topic in The Chat Board
You are in charge so simply say "no we aren't going to play that, but here's what we can play" and give them a few options. -
What kind of dr. do you see for something like tennis elbow?
magnificent_baby replied to Stacia's topic in The Chat Board
I have done this before and it did heal eventually. Have you tried ibuprofen? I would do that and ice for several days to decrease the inflammation. A PCP will treat you conservatively with ice and anti-inflammatories, maybe even PT, then refer you to an orthopedic if that has not worked. Just keep in mind orthopedic docs are surgeons so if all of that has failed they may suggest surgery. -
I hand them my Costco charge as a membership card since it has the number, same with Sam's when I belonged there.
-
Probably a well thought out business scheme so that you choose to charge it on that card since it's conveniently in their possession (versus charging it on another card or paying cash).

I would try a new router/modem. That can make a big difference in wifi issues. Our cable company sells them and I was able to negotiate the price down a bit. I chose to get it from them even though they were a bit higher than retail stores because they offered a return if it didn't fix my issue. I think they go out of their way to try to fix problems so they can avoid sending a service tech at their cost.

would you be unhappy with this situation??
magnificent_baby replied to ProudGrandma's topic in The Chat Board
Yes that would be very annoying but in reality you can catch a virus anywhere you go; just not everyone mentions they have been or are sick. This time of year I try to be very cautious regardless of where we are or who we are around. I really wish people were more thoughtful of others and just stay the heck home, but like your friend, they don't. -
I do not understand boy's shoe sizing.
magnificent_baby replied to SparklyUnicorn's topic in The Chat Board
Famous Footwear is pricey, however if you join the rewards program you get really good coupons and rewards certificates add up fast. If they don't have the size you need in store they will ship to your house for free, which is fairly fast. Also online shipping is free if you are a certain level of member (this happens fast as well). My boys grow into a new size every few months so it has been worth purchasing most of our shoes there as it seems like I have a $20 reward every few months. Same with Dick's sporting goods for athletic shoes. Both carry youth/men's size 7 in some styles. -
Like the other PP's, it's okay to wait another year or so, unless you have a close family member with history of it or have a lump. If you would like one for peace of mind, call around to your local hospitals. There are multiple programs in my area that offer free screening mammo's for those not covered. Perhaps you would qualify since you are uninsured.

Bass Pro Santa's Wonderland--anyone been?
magnificent_baby replied to Aura's topic in The Chat Board
We go every year, usually more than once and even my older elementary kids/middle school kiddo enjoy it. Getting their picture with Santa has become a yearly tradition and we replace the pic each year in the cute picture frame they sell. Weekends are really busy and require an "appointment" card. The scenery is beautiful and they don't mind if you take additional pics with your cell, even with Santa. -
I think around $6 for matinee and close to $10 starting late afternoon. The concessions are very expensive but we pay for the rewards card every year which is worth the yearly fee since it gives fairly good discounts. I don't mind the admission fee considering they have super comfy reclining seats. I don't think I could ever sit in a regular theater seat again, we are spoiled!

So sad. I grew up watching Growing Pains and he was just on This is Us not too long ago. I still can't believe it!

If you listen/watch somthing as you go to sleep, what is it?
magnificent_baby replied to Tap's topic in The Chat Board
Usually King of Queens with the sleep timer set. -
DH has an Excalibur as well. Uses it all the time for venison jerky. He's been very happy with it.

I don't have any suggestions but will be following this thread closely. Family member (teen) was prescribed wellbutrin by pede. It hasn't been started yet and will probably not be. No idea why this was chosen, as it is not first line at all for anxiety and several anecdotal experiences found online by other parents said it made anxiety increase. Therapy has been of no help over several years and various therapists. Good luck to you OP, hope you find something effective for your loved one! :grouphug:

People who are bi-racial but call themselves black?
magnificent_baby replied to GinaPagnato's topic in The Chat Board
All of my biracial cousins refer to themselves as black. They have grown up in a black community, still live there and definitely identify with the black culture way more than their white culture/heritage. I don't know any biracial people that identify themselves as white. -
We have Bearpaws and Uggs and like them both really well. DD's going on winter #3 with her grey Uggs, and they still look like they are in very good shape. Definitely have been worth the investment. Both of our Bearpaws look rough after about the same amount of time/wear, but are still really warm and comfy. I think Bearpaws are slightly more comfortable.

Favorite board games with large age gaps?
magnificent_baby replied to AimeeM's topic in The Chat Board
Sorry Checkers (we have the big rug style, the kids love it) -
That's weird. I've worked in many health settings and systems and have not heard of this. The only thing I can think of is if they want to connect family medical history, which would not surprise me if someday this would be up and running (which I think has the potential to be very useful). I think I have heard of this concept but have not seen it in use. I would either decline or ask what they do with this info before divulging it.

What charities do you support this time of year?
magnificent_baby replied to mommyoffive's topic in The Chat Board
Usually Operation Christmas Child, The Salvation Army's Angel Tree or local homeless shelters. This year we adopted a homeless, single mom and her young son to buy for. We haven't shopped yet but are very excited. -
Pretty, feminine watch with 24 hour dial?
magnificent_baby replied to Chris in VA's topic in The Chat Board
I have this one, although no military time, sorry! It's very feminine and I get compliments on it all the time. Looks like it comes in rose gold too, that one's really pretty! http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-2414336/armitron-now-crystal-mother-of-pearl-watch-made-with-swarovski-elements-women.jsp?color=Gold%20Tone%20Clear -
As tempting as cute covers are, I wouldn't put anything on my iPhone other than an Otterbox, unless the phone was really inexpensive and you are okay with replacing if needed. I drop my phone daily and the Otterbox has saved my phone more times than I can count. The warranty and customer service are top notch as well. I also like the Otterbox because it gives my phone some traction in my pocket...anything else is way too slick and more prone to falls.

Yes, go with your gut feeling and get a second opinion. Another neurologist, and/or an internist to explore non-neuro possibilities.
