  1. Yikes! I think I would push for an admission if she's worsening or insist she be squeezed into the GI doc within the next few days. I don't see why in this situation they can't do that. Ugh, poor girl!
  2. I would want her examined today by her doc with more tests run. Is the vomiting improving at all since yesterday's ER visit? Is she keep fluids down? If not, I would consider pushing for hospital admission.
  3. Don't be surprised if the hearing issue lasts awhile. DS had high frequency hearing loss due to fluid. ENT didn't intervene and said it would just take time to resolve on it's own. It took several months, but he seems to be fine now.
  4. Your kids will appreciate a van if you can find one. My kids ask almost daily if we can go back to our Sienna. They loathe my smallish AWD. :glare:
  5. I had fun in jr. high; was friends with all the "groups" and don't remember feeling left out all that much. Any groups that existed really seemed to get along easily with other groups. Here's an article that I find to be so true regarding current trends: http://community.today.com/parentingteam/post/being-left-out-hurts-lets-stop-social-engineering-now (edited for privacy)
  6. Like previous posters, I would call and let them know but also request front door pickup. I would not go out of my way to return, as the mistake was on their end. I disagree that it's stealing if you refuse to drive to have to mail it back.
  7. Suzuki piano lessons; $120/month. Invested in a brand new piano after about 3 years ($2,500?). Very much worth the investment of time and money, IMO. Piano lessons also made DD eligible to play percussion at school which comes very easy due to many years of piano. I had no idea how rare the ability to play piano is these days; only a handful of kids in her big school can play. I think that's really cool considering everything is so sports focused here and is very unique (her friends beg her to play for them when they come over!). Yes, expensive when considering we are going on 8 years now but I don't regret it at all. She will thank me someday, I hope!
  8. I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to go this year. But you should. And *bonus* your deductible is met. I would ask everyone you know who they love for a primary GP (you don't even need to say why). When you make the appt, give a sense of urgency so they can get you in quickly. If you stress "new onset" (well, it is because it's nearly all the time now versus occasionally before), that may help you get in faster. Yes you need a neuro appt, but the GP can make the eval, order tests while waiting for a specialist and often get you in faster than if you scheduled yourself. I would even talk to the GP nurse to help get you in faster (they can usually switch up the schedule when needed, instead of a scheduler just plopping you in next without being aware of the seriousness). Praying it's a simple condition! And it very well could be but need it checked out regardless.
  9. Anyone in the family do any woodworking? My DS's inherited a very simple, handmade wooden box with a tiny paddle lock and key. They LOVE it and are in/out of it daily locking up their treasures. :) If you don't know anyone, perhaps Etsy?
  10. I drive a vehicle around that size. It is very, very cramped with my 3 adolescent children. I can't imagine trying it with 4.
  11. Although it may be difficult to charge your son, I would sell him your car for the blue book value, as long as it's safe to drive (I think you mentioned he would be getting off work very early in the am). My kids aren't that age yet, but I know in a few years we should be in the position to hand them over our used vehicle when it's time. I'm going to try to stay strong and sell it to DD if she wishes, as DH and I both always purchased our own vehicles and insurance when we were teens. I think that's a life lesson that goes a long way.
  12. I am wondering if you are swallowing air. As long as your primary doc is aware and doesn't suggest any further tests, I'd talk with your CPAP company; perhaps a new or different mask would help.
  13. I'm sorry, I don't have any recommendations but would suggest (if you haven't already) to get a medical evaluation, perhaps it's something that can be treated so she doesn't have to handle it at home.
  14. Have you had your heart checked out at all? This can cause fluid backup and abdominal bloating/fluid accumulation.
  15. No ideas (and glad you ruled out medical conditions) but I would recommend Nioxin shampoo if you haven't tried already. It's expensive but have heard it's effective.
  16. Haven't read all of the responses, but my theory is from playing in the dirt all the time as a child. We grew up playing softball and were at the fields all.the.time. I have so many pictures of myself playing in huge mounds of dirt. Same thing with my siblings, we rarely get sick other than occasional colds. We grew up in an old house, it was messy quite a bit of the time and I'm sure it was rarely sanitized. My parents used to be the same but now I think it's catching up to them as they are approaching their 70's. One thing that helps in my house (I think) is making sure they wash their hands the second they walk in the door from the bus. I specifically don't purchase antibacterial soap.
  17. I don't feel like slippers provide enough traction to move around the house picking up, etc. I wear my old Bear Paws around the house in the winter. They are very comfy and so warm. I do own Uggs, but save them for going outside the house.
  18. I have pieces from many, many years ago. It is good quality overall. I've had issues with a few pieces but they are lifetime guaranteed, just keep your receipts!! I do prefer going to a party versus an online party, they can show you the large variety of ways to wear a piece, and it's just fun to get together with friends and oooh and ahhh over the jewelry. :) They also often look much prettier in person.
  19. I will ask! Could be awhile, she's very slow to respond. :D
  20. While I love my iPhone, the pictures aren't the best compared to other phones. I have a 6s and the megapixel's are fairly high (12?). My sisters have Samsung phones and their pictures turn out really, really good! That said, I did use it on vacation, along side my good camera, and the outdoor pics turned out well, though I know they could have been better. I really hope Apple decides to come out with a better camera because I love the phone itself.
  21. Last time that I used it was about a year ago, no issues at all. Did have an issue scheduling a class once so Groupon gave me a credit and were very easy to deal with. Although this was several years ago.
  22. I would not be comfortable dropping off a 5 year old at that age, unless I knew the family really well. In my experience, parents are welcome to stay but don't usually partake in the food or activities. At that age I've always written 'parents are welcome to stay'. I can't think of any particular venue that would charge for adults unless they were directly participating.
  23. The Monsters Inc Comedy Show (not sure the actual name) was so funny! Way better than we expected (found it by accident when hiding from the rain). Highly recommend catching that. The Jungle Book night show at Animal Kingdom was really cool; I recommend seeing the current movie first, it helps with the story line. If you spend 2 nights at MK and don't want to see the light show/fireworks twice, I found that to be a really good time to ride the rides since most people are watching the fireworks.
  24. I know what you mean! I made all my sisters watch it so we could discuss.
